I know this opinion might not be popular but I think selling bran might make a good bit of sense in terms of progression of youngsters as well as playing styles. This would allow us to move Dave back to right back and therefore be able to offer shaw a much easier route into the first team and having these two at wingback will provide us with far more width and better service from outside which was areas that held us back when teams packed the box. This will also make it harder for teams to suffocate our wingers like hazard. As far as natural progression goes this will allow more natural movement across the entire back line. Were already very likely to bring in a top quality left back. We can then also bring back pva to fill in at left back and we would have Dave at right back with kalas as cover for right back. The bigger area this sale would clear up is at centre half. I think bran could use a move centrally because his lack of pace and end product in the attacking end may start to outweigh his defensive and aerial strength however if he moved centrally his strengths would carry over, he would have average pace for the position and actually be decent on the ball for a centre half. But in terms of youth progression this would have a good impact. As it stands I think terry Cahill and kalas are all ready for a good chunk of minutes with kalas being behind the other two but terry having maybe a little longer than a year left at the highest level. Then we also have zouma who I don't believe to be quite ready but a season loan to a lower level premier league team could do a ton of good. We also have omereu and ake who will both likely receive loans. Christensen could progress to full time with the u21 group and pick up spare minutes here and there that kalas received. This also makes a lot more sense if we buy varane and I'd almost argue that if we bought varane we would have to make this move. Without that purchase we would have a back line of either shaw or Luis, Bertrand or pva, terry, Cahill, kalas as cover in the middle and out right, and then Dave which I feel is plenty sufficient and allows us the space to bring in a player like varane. Interested to hear your guys opinion.

Mate, Ivanovic is CD who just turned 30 few months a go. If he is 33 or even 32 JM might think about it. It's not going to happen.

Regardless of whether Ivanovic stays or goes, we need to start playing a left footed player as left back and a right footed player as right back in order to get some width into our play. All the attacking midfielder's look to cut inside the majority of the time so if we can get some natural width from the full backs to cross the ball in for players to actually attack I feel it will be massively beneficial. It will create a lot more chances and hopefully speed up our play so we are not so predictable and easy for the opposition's defence to set up.

Fully agree with you about backs. I also believe that winger should be a winger also right footed on the right and left footed on the left. It makes sense to switch sides only when you are pressing the opponent and opponent is forced to defend. Otherwise wingers are losing initial speed and ball control advantage.

Definitely think that if we sign Varane that Iva should be sold. We have quite a few great prospects when it come to defense, that in order to start making a transition he should probably leave. If he stays it will likely stagnate the progression of said youngsters into the team and at some point when Terry and Iva leave, we'd be left with the youngsters who've featured rarely, if at all, for the club.

After days of Chelsea have spoke to fabregas and his in london etc etc today's rumours are Chelsea have now enquired about fabregas, lol aren't these rumours the wrong way round, all Spanish press going with this, fab hates Chelsea and mourinho, can't see this at all,
