Eds could of you please explain why chelsea would wait to bid for stones and not do it straight after rejection of the previous bid

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed018's Note - you'd have to talk to someone at Chelsea to explain that one. I have no idea.}

28 Jul 2015 06:24:26
I'm guessing becuase if you just keep bidding without a break, it makes it seem like he's the only player you want, therefore raising the asking price.

By waiting, it makes it seem like you're not as interested, but still interested. Making the price not rise

If you get what I'm saying

It all seems so childish - why don't Everton say either he's not for sale at any price this summer or we want £32 mill and no less to let him go? Then Chels either pay £32 mill or ssay No thanks - Ridiculous!

It may seem ridiculous to you however there's a lot more to a transfer than just agreeing a transfer fee.

Looks like United will sign Pedro - have to say I think we've dodged a bullet.

Yeah, a five time La Liga winning, three time Copa del Rey winning, two time Champions League winning, European Chamionship and World Cup winning shaped bullet! Who needs that kind of experience in the dressing room - especially when he has scored double figures, for his current club, in every full season he's played for them averaging over a goal every four games.

Well dodged!

27 Jul 2015 23:54:22
Wow, Torres also have a full collection of trophy from perosonal to team. We took that bullet with 50 mil and 4 years of weighting down our budget to reinvest in strike force.

Good experience - good trophy.

When did the team trophy become the standard that we need for a player?

Agree0 Disagree3

28 Jul 2015 06:44:21
I think you'll find 90% of Torres's winners medals have the word "Chelsea" carved into them.

OK, team honours don't make the player. But you don't play over 200 times for the best club side of the last decade and win over 50 caps for the best international team of that period as a bad player - do you? Do you think Pedro is a bad player? Worse than Cuadrado, Moses, Traore or even Willian?

I could score 10 goals a season playing for Barcelona!

Ur argument is still unpersuasive.

The problem is not if Pedro is better than the wingers we have or not. The problem is that if he would be suitable for our playing style or not.

Here my opinion on Pedro that I posted recently:

- Pedro (Barca) for RM position. At least I know Pedro but he 28 now and he never show me of his man-passing skills. In Barcelona - he play crossing and short - passing. He doesn't play the style we need (and Premier League needs - EPL usually needs a winger to pass a man by speed or dribbling skills - the defenders are also more offensive and knock u down more often than give u space to run compared with the defend style in La Liga). Typical success wingers in EPL is Hazard - Sanchez - Sterling, they built physically to fight again the harrashment of defenders.

Pedro can learn for sure with his professionalism, but he is 28 already, nearly fully developed. Di Maria, who is surely better than him in La Liga also has an unsuccessful season.

Sum up, I don't mean he is not good - but just maybe not the man we need for that position.

In our league he would end up as another Jesus Navas and we do not need that.

Ed002 it's awesome to see you back on this page, though I understand you won't comment on Chelsea transfers due to idiotic trolls who are likely not Chelsea fans or perhaps were to be found on the Paris metro. I hope you appreciate how much true fans value you, and although abuse is never taken lightly, I feel I speak for everyone when I say that you are truly a compassionate and dedicated football person. not disrespecting ed018s contribution of course!
I don't have a question for you, but as an avid visitor of the page and occasional poster I wanted to convey the gratitude of all true Chelsea fans. KTBFFH!

Gratitude towards every editor who helps run these sites as they're amazing. Never have I read so much objective information with regards to football, not just transfers. I can honestly say I've learnt a lot by reading the pages here.
So indeed, thanks to every editor, with special mention for Ed018 lately. Absolutely FANTASTIC work on these sites, well done!

27 Jul 2015 18:40:12
I saw reports a couple of days ago that he was going to. Did you see some that said he actually joined them? :)
If he does join them then I can still hope for Witsel!

Same really it read he'd agreed terms to join abit like what he had with us I think

It'd be a sensible decision for him to be honest. He'd probably play a lot more at Leverkusen and Bundesliga is a very good league. We'll see.

Aranquiz team Internacional have just been knocked out of the Copa Libertadores in the semi-finals - he is only now available to talk to prospective clubs.

Eds can you explain why we haven't yet put a further bid in for Stones? Why would we have to wait until we return from out pre-season tour?

For goodness sake guys(and girls) have patience! There is still a month to go in this window!
Our club have been awesome in their dealings in the last few windows, yes last window we reacted quickly and brought in players(Fabregas) that we never expected. I, however, would like to point out that we will not now pay over the odds for players, so, let's be honest, we are not Real or Barca that can "buy" whoever they want at whatever price! We are a club now(I hope) that wants players who want to play for our club for what they'll win rather than how much they'll earn. This creates the "them and us" situation that Jose seems to want to instill in our ethos.
This is where I get annoyed with the likes of Mikel, who, it appears is happy to do a Winston Bogarde and see out his contract rather than back himself elsewhere! I'm sorry, but, he is not good enough, however likeable he may be to us fans, Ramires, the same.
We hear the names, Pogba, Greizeman, etc that we're interested in, but, if money is they're prime incentive let them go to whoever, I'd rather have a RLC that wants to succeed at CFC on a weekly basis! That is what will win us the EPL again and the further opportunities that Europe provides.
We are not quite in the elite yet, whether we like it or not, but, it's going to happen!!
Ed002 has said on so many occasions, we will not stand in the way of anyone wanting to leave, which only emphasises my opinion that, if they don't want to be here, let them go.
Sorry for the Rant fellow fans, if only a portion of the players had the same mentality we would be fine.

I have faith in the club, but I am worried.

As a die hard fan, I'm going to be worried and want the best.

But I trust the club :)
