Why don't we convert torres to midfield? He has played well in games but because he wastes a lot of chances we get on his back, if we sell him he will come back and haunt us, the problem is tthe way we play not the player, we had this with shevchenko, kezman etc I reckon rooney will be perfect, 30 goals a season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Of course, because we don't have enough mids and we have too many strikers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres was poor for the last 18 months at Liverpool, he has been poor at Chelsea.

Stop making excuses for him. The No 1 objective for any striker is to score goals, everything else is secondary

I hope roman doesn't buy benteke, we know he loves a player who scores against us, another demba ba and shocking card collector

I just saw the clips of Porto's Jackson martinez' 34 goals for last season. Looked good, seems a goal poacher, good size too. Also lower wage. What do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We should sign him

You are more then welcome

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go, 2 games into the season and they are off again, liverpool won't finish top 6

Agree0 Disagree0

He is doing well to be fair.

Thank god we didn't sell him to a rival!

Jordan

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, good point, hopefully he will take a few points off big clubs, obviously hope he has a bad day against us though

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd hope he's scored one per game considering he's also probably only passed once per game as well.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather have lukaku

Guardiola has really messed up Bayern. They don't seem to play very well (yet at least). We might have a realistic shot at winning the supercup if they keep this up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought we needed a striker.

How do they expect to win the champions league with Mandzukic and Pizarro! Surely they will sign someone.

When is the Willian deal going to be confirmed and what is the current situation?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The only official confirmation of the deal being done is when Chelsea announce it

Willian is the most overrated player in world football. Why we didn't instead go for Bernard is beyond me. Although I don't really care about the finances, but the amounts involved are ludicruos. He's not even in the Brazil team with Hulk, Lucas and Bernard ahead of him - all hardly world beaters.
Bas!cs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As a spurs supporter I wasnt bothered and I am not just saying this as you got him he is good but as you say there is better

derbyshire dave

Agree0 Disagree0

Most overrated player ever is a bit extreme.

His price is a bit steep, but I'd say he's better than Hulk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree. don't rate him, don't want him, don't need him

SHED END

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to rate him, he put too past us at the bridge last year which probably got rdm fired and the reason we were knocked out in the group stage of the CL. If he has no ratings what does that say about our club?

Agree0 Disagree0

We won the game when he scored two so a lot of your post is irrelevant

AK

Agree0 Disagree0

With the players you hjave in all honesty you don't NEED him but he is an improvement on moses so I guess he improves you as a squad. hey and if we did get him I would have been really pleased as we haven't the attacking mid prowess you guys have so if nothing else you have dented a potential (and I did say potential) rival as I see us spurs with a couple more signings doing better than man u and even arsenal but we will have to wait and see mean time good luck monday

derbyshire dave

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol I know we won 3-2 but after our first tie with them and aggregate if we ended up with the same points. you still wouldn't understand. Any my main point was how could a no ratings player gut us at the bridge.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who doubts willian will soon see they are wrong when he starts playing
Jc26

Agree0 Disagree0

Willian or Moses.
I know which one I'd go for!

Agree0 Disagree0

I liked the Bernard shout a lot as well and am sort of troubled we didn't go for him rather than willian.

Tk {Ed044's Note - Bernard has already moved this summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Well it looks like he'll be at the bridge next year so he's one of us let's get behind him.

Mourinho has stated that his ideal squad size is 22. Chelsea have a current first team squad of 26.

Likely transfers outgoing - Ba, Mikel, Moses

There are still possibilities in players such as Bertrand and Blackman.

De bruyne, Kalas and Van ginkel have been promised a place in the squad which is a big reason why the first and last did not seek football elsewhere.

Adding quality is something a manager can never pass up but a 30 million pound "transfer listed" player to add to a team that is pretty much full of talent is absurd. Willian will do well wherever he ends up but it does seem like another impulse buy from RA who is helping out a mate in a bit of money trouble.

Realistically if Chelsea have money to burn, shouldn't they be focussing on the country they are based in? Will Hughes and Luke Shaw are both amazing prospects who would cost less combined than Willian.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not a big fan of the possible Willian deal either. Ideally, I'd keep Moses and use those 30m for strenthening elsewhere.
Ba sold and Rooney brought into the team would be outstanding as our striking options would definitely be complete then.
If Mikel is sold, then another defensive midfielder is probably needed.
Onto the position I most think we need to strengthen: central defence. Use the Willian money and put in a large bid for Varane (it's unlikely they'd sell, but you never know). Otherwise put in a good bid for Zouma. He's young, immensely talented and ready to play a decent amount of games right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

A 22 man squad is fine in theory - but don't players under 21 not really count towards the squad? We have a few in that age group that free up spots for others.

with just 22, whatever age, its too small. 3 keeps which you need doesn't leave enough for 2 players in every position which you also need really - and realistically 3 for the the one striking role.

That makes a 24 man squad - or 22 plus a couple of youngsters.

We have 3 keepers, then Ivan and Azp for RB, Bertrand and Cole for LB, Terry, Cahill, Luiz and? for Centre back (youngetser?). Lamps, Van G, Ramires and Mikel Mids, Mata, Hazzard, Oscar, VDB, Schurlle and Moses (or Willian if he comes in with Moses sold) as AMs, Torres, Ba and Lukaku for strikers (Ba being sold if we get Rooney or another in).

Assuming that Kalas is in the squad in place of that 4th defender (as Ivan can cover there) that's a good squad - though it is 24 not 22 man. Plently of options for cover in DM (Luiz moving forwards and Oscar/VDB moving back).

It does mean Essien needs to go as well -which in truth i'd like but not sure about Jose.

Agree0 Disagree0

You know your stuff you should be in the dugout instead of Jose

Agree0 Disagree0

Would of much rather seen this money go one cavani or falcao, even if they were over priced, we need them.

Agree0 Disagree0

So our DM options are, Lamps, Van G, Ramires and Mikel, with Luiz. Oscar and Debruyne possible cover.

So that's 4 players who don't play in the position.

Mikel.

A 21 year old.

And Ramires (ok option).

Thats a really weak set of midfield options.

We need a strong DM!

SHED END

Agree0 Disagree0

SHED why do you keep spreding this dm propaganda. You may turn out to be correct but you're jumping the gun. Last season when Luiz was put there by the FSW along with some tactical tweaks we were ok. This season JM said he sees Luiz as a cb so we bought a '21 year old' and Jose brought back Essien, none of whom has played a minute at that position in the TWO regular season matches thus far. The '21 year old' was brought on as a sub in the 1st match but was played in a frwd role as Frank remained on the pitch. So where is this EVIDENCE that we cannot find a combo of 2 out of our 5 dms to play decent football when we've only played 2 of them there thus far?

I know it was only preseason but go back and look how solid we looked at dm against AC Milan's attack of Balotelli and El Shiwary and all the matches prior to that (without Luiz) before Lamps got his first start of the preseason against Real. Now most of us would like to see Mikel moved on for a Di Rossi or Khedira but I disagree that we need one of them to win.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I'd sell both Torres and ba along with mikel and sign Rooney/j.martinez another striker who won't be bothered if he doesn't play regurely e.g Muriel or rodrigo and a defensive mid

Agree0 Disagree0

Im jumping the gun because we have to move fast because the window closes in a week? You yourself said I might be right, therefore you haven't got faith in our midfield, which raises the same point as I do. The 2 games you referred to were against Villa and Hull. We diddnt impress in either. What if we wait like you say and it turns out we need a CM after all. Season will be over before its began. WE NEED QUALITY CM'S

SHED END

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2013 00:35:33
This is my perfect (although optimistic) transfer dealings for the rest of the window.

Out : Ba/Torres, Mikel, Moses

In: Rooney, Willian, Varane.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ba can go Torres can't. Mikel and Moses should leave agreed. But why sign varane? Isn't he a centre back?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why can't Torres go. Highest earner at the club and everything seems to break down with him.

If anyone think Manchester United will play an open game with us like suggested by many posters, should go and watch against the swans, they defend and counter attack, if they cannot play an open game with swans defnately the wouldn't attempt it with us therefore how I wish TSO will use ramirez and ginkel in def mid because of their pace and think about resting JT & LAMPS for this match. Guaranteed 6 or 5 goals for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They're at home, in one of the biggest games of the season and moyes still has a point to prove. I think they'll come out at as
