Anyone know how long ivanovic is due out for? Or will he be back to face the spuds at the weekend?

Nick88

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Come what may, but there should not be a sniff of #17 in tne radius of afew miles off SW6.

I just hpe if Brana is not fit to start, that we have Luiz at right back, oe Essien, or even Ramires. Ok, - Hutch. Turnbull or Hilario or RDM himself, but not Bisingwa

JG

Agree6 Disagree1

Bosingwa neither defends nor attacks when the ball is around! In the match against Man City he was backing away allowing the wingbacks/midfielders to shoot into the D-Box! 3 basic things he forgotten about football! art of defending- closing down on the opposition player; passing the ball - Not giving it a wild kick; clearance - forgets to kick the ball wildly this time:-(

God save Chelsea fromt him!!
Time for Roman to take out his axe on this guy!

Agree1 Disagree0

The axe needs to be swung at more thn bosingwa, essien, meirelles, cole, mikel, kalou, sturridge and malouda BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree2

You no blueboy, you can't just go selling every player who had a bad game or doesn't fit into your perfect image of the team orit will end up like did and has with robben, we STILL haven't found a replacement for him. You just can't go selling 7 players and expect that we will instantly get amazing £30m replacements for all of them or even any of them.

Agree1 Disagree1

Essien 4 romeu, meirelles 4 mceachran, malouda 4 kakuta thats 3 sorted non of these 3 will do worse than them and probably all 3 are more creative and obviously more gifted at passing the ball. so we only need 4 more hazard 4 sturridge 35m, sturridge sold 4 20 m thts only 15 m towards haz, lucas moura central attacking 40 m.v d wiel 15 million, bertrand left back aint alot spent after the sale of essien, cole..

Agree0 Disagree1

Romeu is not better than Essien, Essien may be struggling since he came back from injury but how can you write him off so quick, I'd like to see us stick with him and hopefully he can get back to his best next season, where's the loyalty, he's been a great player for us over the years. And while Romeu is a good kid he's by no means the finished article, I've seen him get caught out for a couple of goals early on in the year, I'm not having a go at Romeu but he's young and will learn from these mistakes (and then probably feck off back to barca, but thats a different issue)

Kenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Very true abwt bk 2 barca, essien has been poor. the injuries have gt to him, i knw its nt his fault but whats happened to the bison who use to mark main players out of the game, 3 years now really is time to move on from essien dont lik saying it but is true

rangers fan on here lads, just wondering what you all think the chances are of going through against benfica in the quarter finals in the next couple of weeks ?

the big problem for us is the full back positions, boswinga is totally useless no heart no positional play weak in the tackle does not seem to care one bit, ashley cole is not good enough as well he is to slow always out of position can't tackle what we need to do is get these two out of our team asap and get rid of them in the summer for now play bertrand or luiz at left back as for right back either keep ivano there or try luiz there if bertrand does well at lb, we have to act now to salvage something from this awful season we are having. coyb forever

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Spot on there, ivanovic is a solid right back but we need a more attacking back up like azpilicueta for example. bertrand has looked impressive when called upon but im not sure if that is because he is good or ashley cole is so poor, if real madrid still want him, i suggest we get rid while we can still get a good price for him.
trueblue012

Agree5 Disagree1

They realy are poor fullbacks totally agree with you mate needs sortin soon i would say

Agree1 Disagree0

I still like ashley, I don't know if I am watching other game but he all the time do his work at defence (do not count some mistakes) but he is superb going forward which is just perfect as mata likes to move to the middle even if he plays in left wing and he with cole makes superb attacking pair on the left side

One thing I will say that I haven't seen mentioned a lot is that since RDM became in charge Mikel has been playing far
more and yes he's actually looking half decent. He's made more bursting forward runs in the past 5 games than he had in the last 3 years. He was far better than essien last night (as much as it pains me to say that). Many people have said we should take the cuffs off of him and let him play more and I'm wondering if RDM is doing this. Just my thoughts.

why do you eds have to break up a bit of banter all the time?
is there any point in me using this site any more?
i bet i dont even get an answer from you ?
dave.w {Ed002's Note - Firstly you need to distinguish between banter and abuse. Secondly writing trite comments like "i bet i dont .." yadda yadda normally results in the post just being deleted. If you don't want to use the site anymore that can certainly be organised for you.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I use to think people on here were a bit harsh with you!
but it only seems out of all the eds you have a serious attitude problem,if you dont like being on here you should quit!
if calling some 1 an person is abuse i think you need to get out a little bit more..
dave.w {Ed002's Note - Don't worry. All fixed such that you won't have problems any longer. You can thank me later - oh, sorry, you can't.}

Looks like that's the end of dave ;)

I think Dave just got his ass handed to him on a plate.
Bye bye Dave.

Haha silly boy dave, will I agree that our 'conversation' was in good fun and did not mean for it to come across as abuse (well maybe a little) you just dont argue with Eds, definately not Ed002.

So now hopefully you take note of what I said and dont come back on this site to hang it on Chelsea until your gooners atleast win the Carling Cup.

When Brani was limping last night was I the only one who would have preferred to see Turnbull come on instead of Bosingwa?! haha

Believable1 Unbelievable0

No, you must have not been the only one. First idea i got was, that we have two components for disaster on the pitch already in Bosingwa and Meireles. Was looking for Malouda to come on at any minute.

Bosingwa to Chelsea is much worse than Winston Bogarde ever was. Therefor it is only natural we extend him for another year.

And so it begins... OMG ROFLCOPTER LOL some of you on here are like school girls. Love RDM one week hate Sturridge the next. Get a grip!

We lost 2-1 to one of the two best teams in the league at home, while playing poorly. That is not that much of a surprise to me. 5 weeks ago it would have been alot worse.

Someone even said they 'hate sturridge, would rather kalou' clueless gilfnards (thanks ed002). Sturridge is in his first season as a first team player, he is one of our leading scorers and adds alot to our play. While I am the first to agree he is unbelievably selfish, he has come from dominating reserves for a couple of years and killing it on a loan spell at Bolton. The kid is use to being the best. If we can harness his skills and make him realise that a assist is as good as a goal he will be a club legend. I have no doubt in that. This is where Mourinho or a manager of his magnitude would help out.

Some people on here just enjoy whinging I think. How can we expect stability when our own supporters and so unstable. We are not going to win the league, we are going to have to fight for 4th. We need to realise that winning away to Man City is a huge task now, and playing poorly and getting a 2-1 result is not the end of the world.

A major overhaul is coming in the summer, I expect Essien, Bos, Malouda, Drogba and a few others to be shown the exit door. Alot of fresh faces will come in.

Support the club you love. Bring on the spuds!

Melbourne CFC

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Couldn't agree more, people need to adjust their expectations. 4 wins on the bounce, then one unlucky loss to city and everyone jumps on the moaning bandwagon again. Some even saying get rid of RDM! Jokers

Top post mate, i think a lot of people forget how young studge is. While it's frustrating to watch he is still learning.

Blue John

Agree0 Disagree0

Last night was a poor showing from the majority of players vs Man City and I, plus a number of other fans, question the team selection by RDM.

Questioning these things doesn't mean I want RDM out, it just means this performance wasn't up to the standard I expect from the club.

If Chelsea play well then I will say it was a good performance, if they dont play well I will voice my concerns. As a fan I have the right to an opinion and a right to voice these opinions.

Cheering or complaining I am always supporting!!

Agree2 Disagree0

I cant agree mate, complaining is not supporting. I mean saying bosinga is s**t is neither constructive or supportive. I'm not arguing that you dont have a right to question team selections and be angered by performance but dont come on here a week later making contradictions of yourself like half the people on here do.

Osgoodisking, Shak, Blue John, Shed, JG, PR, myself are all people who complain, get frustrated, crack the s**ts but we do not whinge. We put fourth constructive arguements and debate what we did wrong. Some people just come on to whinge (not saying your one, don't even know who you are).

What such a let down last night, when have you ever seen such a shocking performance from us?? Happy to lose?? We went 2-1 down and didn't even try! We need a new manager quick because rdm ain't no better than AVB ,he even said 10 mins before kick off that we'll be defending most of the game? Before we even started he's conceded the match something mourinho would never have done! As for some of the players there just not good enough! City have got dzeko, balotelli, tevez, aguero, silva, toure as there attack force and we got..... Wait for it Torres the guy that works hard for the team as everyone keeps saying on here,do you think when roman went and spent 50 million he said right I don't want you to score and I don't want you to have a good touch just run around like a headless chicken??? Don't think so! Also meireles is so shocking I can't even get into it! Drogba lampard mikel essien malouda bosigwa have been good servants for the team and SOME are legends but the level of football in the top four has upped to the next level and there just ageing now and just look short of pace right now! If we don't make champions league we're in big trouble just look at Liverpool ! People that say it don't make a difference are in denial because it does! Fifth in the league and deservedly we've been terrible this season ! We need at least 5 or 6 players coming in the summer and top class ones not kids to go on loan!!! P#$$ed at what I'm seeing right now!!

We know out current squad isn't good enough, it's not a new revelation. City have a far superior team, especially attacking, and yet you want us to go there and go all out attack! Get a grip, this isn't FIFA mate. If that pen hadn't been given I think we would have won it, then let's see your moaning. And as for wanting RDM out, well, fans like you are exactly whats wrong with this club, he's an interim manager!

From watching last nights performance it is crystal clear we need a couple of wingers, I have said on hear several times we never replaced Robben and Duff and it is now costing us, I think Mata is class but he needs to be playing just behind Torres not out on the left, Sturridge needs to get his head round the fact he is playing wide and in a team or he can f*** off. Ramires is no winger and should never be allowed to play out there again. Boswinga needs to be charged with fraud as he is no footballer, Essien sadly looks finished, Meireles just awfull.
Come the summer we need to be bringing in a minimum of 5 players and getting rid of the same amount or we will be in the same or worse position than we are in now, even the special one would struggle with the squad we have at present.
Some positive Romeou looks quality and needs to be playing more. Luiz is getting better and is a joy to watch. Torres has impressed me, yes he has missed a couple of sitters but in his defence most of the players around him are either not up to the task in hand or just dont seem bothered, Mata is pure class but needs to be played inthe middle not out wide.
Regards manager i would love to see Jose back, but if RDM can prove himself then maybe keep him on.

Hi Ed: i really don't know why we play so defensively...we should push ourselves more to get the 4th spot...and ed i know it annoys you but i can't help asking you is the club takes the decision who will be our next coach and the players we wanted...because this year also same happen we waited for the recruitment of the new coach and finally it was so late that we couldn't make good signing.chelsea for life {Ed002's Note - Obviously a decision will be taken over a new coach and players.}

Arsenal fan in peace.

Just thought I'd see what you guys think about Torres. I thought he was excellent against Manchester City, almost looked the Torres of old. You could see the panic he cause when he turned and ran at the defenders.
The only problem was that no-one else seemed to want to score.
And as a side issue I think Luiz could be a top player once he learns to control himself. He was top notch today.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Not much else to add, u hit the nail on the head. Torres was our best player last night and should never have been taken off.

FT9

Agree2 Disagree1

Rate him very highly. Supported him all year and began to slate him towards the start of Feb but I'm so glad he is showing his worth. Puts the team first, and plays for the Chelsea shirt. Am hoping RDM only took him off so that he is in peak condition to start against the spuds.

Melbourne CFC

Agree2 Disagree0

I thought Torres was playing very well, he was probably only taken off to keep Drogba happy

Agree1 Disagree1

I imagine the idea was to get drogba to hold the ball up more, as we were severely on the back got at the time. Unfortunately didn't work, but can see the thinking behind it.

Evaluation:

Bosingwa - Lazy defender and no end product. Needs to go as soon as window opens, got no heart to play for Chelsea.
Meireles - Not strong enough for centre mid. Gets over ran by bigger stronger players like Toure. His passing is meant to be his strong point, i havent seen anything to back that up.
Drogba - Someone said the other day that he has 1 good game for 6 bad ones, i agree. He shows nowhere near as much work rate or invention as Torres.
Essien - Past his best, injuries have finished him unfortunately. If we want to play a passing game then he isn't the man for it. He can add steel but not much else.
Sturridge - Best in the squad in 1 on 1 situations. He needs to learn to play for Chelsea though and not himself. He's got his eyes on the Euros and that top goalscorer tag this season, hopefully when he grows up the selfishness and ego will calm down.
Malouda - doesn't add anything. I would never be happy to see him start and i would never ask for him to be brought on as a sub. So why keep him?
Kalou - For all his effort and like-ability, he just isn't good enough. No end product.

Out of them all i would say keep Sturridge. Give him a few years to mature. Bring in a quality winger to free up Mata in the centre. Bring in a quality Centre Mid who can run a game with his passing and composure, like Scholes used to or Xavi does. For all the bad games he has had in the past, if Mikel can carry on playing like he has recently and carry on passing forward then keep him. He does give us strength and composure when he's at his best. And we need a new right back more than any other position. Bosingwa - he is possibly my least favourite Chelsea player of all time. Next game watch him defend, its not that he can't defend, its that he doesn't want to. The goal we conceded against Everton, watch it again, he strolls back leasurely with no effort whatsoever to try and prevent a goal. Compare him and Ash next game they play. Ash gets tight, shows them down the line, doesn't let them turn, follows them inside if they go, follows them down the line if they go, jockies them all the way waiting for a loose touch so he can make a tackle, he covers his centre backs etc. Bosingwa just plays the easy game, he sits off and doesn't get tight, this way he won't get run to the line and he won't have to jockey (which from playing in the past i know absolutely kills your legs and quads, its hard work for 90 mins). Its lazy defending. When hes pressured to clear the ball he can't even do that with any effort, he just swings his leg, not even trying to pick the centre forward out. His end product is shocking, can not cross a ball. I could go on all day about how bad he is but everyone else knows it so no point. Ivanovic is good but he isn't a natural right back, its not in his nature to get to the line or cross a ball like modern right backs do. He's good for games where we need a big strong back four, hard to break down. If we can get a winger, centre mid and right back in the summer who are up to the standard of the rest of the team then we'll be ok. Just need to make sure we do. Throw in Jose and we'll be laughing.

Gotta say well done on the evaluations, i think every one of them are spot on.the top performers from yesterday were torres and luiz.mikel surprised me a little,i thought he was one of the better performers from yesterday along with cahill.the rest of them for me were just not good enough.meireles passing was shocking, bosingwa as usual acted like a headless chicken, ashley and frank looked uninterested, ramires and mata i thought performed well below their standards.essien has lost it,drogba seems only interested in the champions league maybe because he couldnt care less about next season as his future is still in doubt.

I just hope we give spurs a good beating on saturday to keep us in with a shot at top 4

Yeah me too, thought Mikel played well, so did Torres, but he hadn't got a prayer up front on his own he needed some support from the mid-field, but that never came they just hoofed the ball to him and had a little rest. I think we should have taken off Meireles for Sturridge and pushed Ramires back to CM, It would have given City something to think about instead of them slaughtering us with wave after wave of attack.
Cech was man of the match for us I thought.

I think the positive everyone is missing is that proves we can go away to a top European team and get a 2-1, which is kind of the deafult away result you need in the Champions League, City are as good at home as anyone on the planet, in Champions League terms thats a good result, and the Champions league is the one we all want so im not concerned its good preparation for Benfica/Barca, the league will take care of itself i still think we'll get 4th,

SHED END

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Although I think Europe is a different kettle of fish to a league game I see what your saying Shed. I wouldnt put Man city at away on the same level as Barca just yet, we can take positives from the game.

Man City had alot more to play for than us. 4th is huge for us this season but doesn't compare with Citeh's ambitions.

i hate to say it but essien needs to be sold, hes lost so much pace and quickness with his injurys. He never gets into the game, poor passing and slows down possetion way to much. He just clogs passing lanes and never wins the ball back anymore. I love this guy but his recent preformences have been shocking.

cali

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Essien has been poor after the first major injury and stayed that way eversince. We were all just biased towards him, coz he is such a lovable chap. I hate to admit it, but he's got to go. I have noticed his clumsiness on clearing the ball from the box or thereabouts a long while back, it has been costing us goals and games alike. (Just remember the Iniesta goal against us in CL semis).

RDM sees that. No wonder he started Mikel. That and Yaya in mind, too, probably. Anyway, as much as i am biased towards Essien and wish him all the best.... But elswhere.

I would not count on Mikel, cause you can't get two decent performances from him in a row. Never happened.

These two should both be sold. And lets not concentrate on cosolation prize like Tiote. The is one man names Yann M'Villa. This is a vital position in modern football. And we should go after the best.

I don't see why some of you seem to think we were crap and can go to city and go all out attack. They are 2nd having spent hundreds of millions on an amazing team. We are 5th with an ageing squad that has only hit a tiny bit of form. Going all out at city would open us up and it would have been humiliating. Get real lads. You think mourinho would have done it any differently, no he wouldn't. Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but we are not the team we used to be. Some people need to adjust their expectations
