I really don't want Rooney to join, he's too inconsistent, overpriced (if he is valued at £30 million plus as some have stated) and won't allow Lukaku to develop, as this season has demonstrated he gets pissy when left on the bench and we only play with 1 striker.

Moyes has said on numerous occasions that Rooney is staying. The owners cannot really undermine a new manager by then selling him. let's just forget him. Dave

Looks to be the case. My only worry is that Rooney really does want to leave and kicks up a fuss until United have no option but to sell. If that were to happen (not saying it will or is even likely, just that it is possible) I have a horrible feeling he would end up a blue.

Torres is at least in shape. At the rate Rooney keeps packing on the pounds, he won't even be able to get out of bed before the end of his contract.

This is how I think it will be. Rooney's contract ends next year, I think. So, he will be free agent and United will not get any money for him. Plus, he wants to leave, so United will sell him to get some money this year. We are his closest future.
On the other side I hope we will sell Ba, he is not good enough even though he can sometimes do something good.
Cavani is done deal for PSG and for Yilmaz, I don't think he will fit in. Lukaku came back from loan spell and there's Torres. Torres will get it going this season.
With Lukaku, Torres and probably Rooney, we would probably have a pretty good strike force. Hazard, Mata, Oscar, van Ginkel, Schurrle, Moses, maybe Bertrand are behind our striker/s (depends on formation and rotation).
Lamps will lead the midfield and Ramires will play defense there.
I imagine our team like this:
Cech
Ivanovic-Luiz-Terry-Cole
Ramires-Lamps
Schurrle-Mata-Hazard
Rooney
subs. Schwarzer, Cahill, Aspilicueta, Mikel, Moses, Oscar, Torres. What you people think about all of this?

I have full respect for Lampard, but he shouldn't be a part of the starting 11, he should be like Ryan Giggs. Oscar would be perfect there, and van Ginkel/de Bruyne besides him.

I have to disagree with the eds about Rooney. He wants out of United and his prefered destination is Chelsea, infact it's his only destination since he will not move abroad and Arsenal are not a serious contender

People need to understand that it's up to Man U to sell. I'm sure that they wouldn't want to strengthen their rivals.
