Reports tonight saying Colwill will likely leave permanently this window. Shocking decision from the club if this materialises.

I hope that isn’t true.

If it is true, my guess is he wants to leave and as we all know we very rarely keep players who want to leave but I agree it would be a shame.

agreed. even if we get 3 cb this summer there will be space next summer with Silva likely being done. I hate the thought of having these players and having to buy them back in 3 years for stupid money.

fair, we can keep everyone but the youth structure needs to be used a bit more!

different sport, but Leinster are a good example of a model to follow. hope i don't get lynched for suggesting that LMAO.

I don’t know why it is assumed Colwill wants to leave, we all know Broja and his representatives are agitating for a move. The alternative answer is that TT doesn’t really bring on young players because he wants immediate solutions. If we buy Ake for 45 million and let Colwill go I will be well and truly miffed .

so do I. he only needs to look at Chalobah.
I also don't get why we need 3 CBs.
surley Ake and Koulibaly is enough with Colwill get minutes. don't get why he wants Kimpembe too.

But if we do I hope a clause is put in his sale.

I hope he doesn't keep Sarr over him . that would be criminal.

I’m only assuming he wants to leave because I find it hard to believe we wouldn’t want him to stay.

If he and Broja want to leave it’s a shame and I will be as disappointed as I was when we have lost young talent before without giving them the chance they may deserve.

I haven’t got a clue about either players contract position and we have other young players on the threshold of the first team squad who may also want to leave .

Wheely you are correct Colwill or Sarr is not a comparison.

I couldn’t understand how TT picked Sarr over Chalaboa on several occasions last season. Sarr is truly awful and surely we should be looking to sell or loan him rather than Colwill.

Lampard with all his mistakes and failures, did at least one thing very right and that was bringing in the youth to the main team. I doubt we will ever see a manager do that.

We have to remember Ashk to a certain extent Lamps didn’t have much choice but to give some youngsters a chance. For me that made his first season 4th position ok.

Of course some will say he didn’t handle the Tomori
situation very well.

Ashk, I was no fan of Lampard as a coach but you right he did take a chance on young players.

tbh Lamps had no choice.

To splash a hugely significant fee on Ake who we sold years ago because he was not good enough to start for a title challenging team, and City (who we are trying to close the gap to) are now selling because he is not good enough to start for a title challenging team is non sensical for me. How many CBs do we need? One of Kimpembe and Ake makes sense but both is ridiculous and considerably bloats the squad and reduces our chances of signing top tier CBs next summer when the likes of Gvardiol may be available. We’ve already lost the likes of Tomori and Guehi and we’re going to make the same mistake again. I don’t blame the lad if he wants to leave, good luck to him.

Of course Lamps had a choice. He still had more senior players in the team and could have used January window to make sign someone. In his second season he also gave James, Mount, Billy and Tammy lots of game time even though we bought many new players.
I disagree about the Tomori situation. I believe it wasn't Lampard's fault that he left.
Anyway, Lamps is still bringing on some youth to Everton as well.
He might not be a top coach yet but you have to give it to him that he is giving youth a chance.

Ashk, that’s why I said “some will say” about Tomori.

There were such a variety of reported reasons for Tomori leaving and one was his relationship with Lamps. Another was the players attitude to training.

I haven’t got a clue but as I say, some blamed Lamps.
