The only real challenger he has had in years was Nico and he couldn't handle him.
Bottas was hand picked to not challenge him by Toto Wolf.

He has been in the most dominant car in the history of F1 with little or no real competition from the usual suspects.
If you add into that the selection of a B grade driver who wouldn't challenge or pressure him it is difficult to judge the quality of his results.
What we do know is that he handled the pressure of Nico challenge poorly and lost the only real battle he has had at Mercedes.
How anyone could compare him to some of our great Olympians for example is baffling.

{Ed001's Note - seriously? The Ferrari has been the better car for at least 2 of the seasons he won, but he is a much better driver than Vettel so won anyway. You are also forgetting that he is in part responsible for the dominance of the car due to his work away from the track with the team, in a similar way to Schumacher.

The difference between him and most Olympians is that he doesn't have illegal aids to win, so I know who I would put ahead. There are very few people who have competed in the Olympics in the last 50 years who haven't been aided. The final Ben Johnson was thrown out of, for example, only 2 people were not clean, and neither of them were Carl Lewis, by the way. So you can't trust those results, whereas you know Hamilton has fought through and won on his own merits.}

{Ed001's Note - oh ok, I was researching stuff for a sporting villains article on Lance Armstrong and it popped up as I did my research on the drugs Armstrong used and how they worked. There is also reports from Lewis's college career of him being banned for failing dope tests. He is the biggest hypocrite in sporting history. It is just that I am good at retaining info and I read a lot of things. I am OCD about trying to find out everything I can about whatever I write about, so I end up researching things that are not really relevant or necessary but, just in case, I want to know it. I will try and find one of the links about the Olympic final for you now. I did check it from multiple sources and the original source material, so I should be able to find the link.}

Turvey are you for real? What can stats tell you when the driver made the difference? As for Bottas, he was brought in because he was the quickest driver, at the time, that would join. No top driver wants to join Hamilton's team, you only have to look at what is happening at Red Bull to see why. It is pointless discussing this with you, you have clearly made your mind up and just don't like Hamilton so won't admit he is a great.

As for Redgrave, I have no idea nor do I care about a non-entity of a sport like that, which is only for a few rich entitled people and no one would give a toss about if the Brits were crap at it. It is just another curling, something people only bother with when the Olympics are on.

What on earth has McLaren's power plant got to do with anything? And how is the power of Mercedes engines like cheating? It was Ferrari that were cheating, so no. You are making some astonishingly idiotic attempts to denigrate Hamilton.

As for the rivalry with Nico, of course it affected him. They were best friends when they started together, so the fall out affected both of them badly. Badly enough that Nico decided he didn't have the drive to carry on once he managed to get one title, whereas Hamilton has just knuckled down and worked harder and got better.

By the way Ed I did a lot of training 5 to 10 years ago
Weights keto all the stuff that is famous now I would of tried anything
To get ahead a trainer of mine spent thousands going to seminars and 1 thing always stuck in my mind

He went to a seminar of a famous Dr in America who specialised in hormones and the affect they have on training
Another guy there asked the question on steroids
The Dr said if I was an athlete I would not hesitate to take them
He asked everyone for there mobiles
Then proceeded to tell them the clients he had helped
He was an expert in covering them up not giving them
but he said there isn't a athlete out there not taking enhanment drugs they just haven't been caught yet.
