There were differing opinions on here as to the value of the transfer market this window, some thought the fees would be high, others thought they would be low. Not a case of 'being proved right' or being 'proved wrong'.
The latest rumour is João Félix going to Al Nassr for €50 million which gets us out of a sticky situation if true.

Greenaway, I believed that a few premiership teams would be spending big money this year as they looked to rebuild for the future and rebuild because of a disastrous season. We will probably see the uk transfer fee broken twice in this window and we have about another five weeks to go before it ends.

I must admit I also believed that Real, Bayern and maybe one or two other supposed European giants would have also been involved in the scramble but they haven’t really spent “big money” so far.

On another note, I think Felix will end up at Benfica but who knows in this crazy market.

If the deal goes through surely it has to go down as a great bit of buisness.

If we can find a buyer for nkunku, veiga and kdh now.

Anyway benfica are a strangle club. I think i read they have the most income from player sales. But they never have the money to buy a player.

Only wanted to buy 50% of felix.

Blueblood, the last time I looked at the average price of a league season ticket at Benfica it was an about £200. Maybe, because they want fans to be able to afford watching live games at there stadium they have got as much money as others to spend in players.

I would suggest that a few of the Portuguese clubs act more like introducing clubs for South America players coming to Europe. Im not an experbht that seem like a good BP to me.

Any Veiga sale is a mystery to me as he looked like perfect cover for Cucarella and Colwill but I have no idea if the player was demanding more playing time.
If KDH leaves for me it will also be a shame because for me he improved throughout the season and was beginning to show his worth. The problem is we are now so strong in midfield that he wouldn’t have got many games. Apparently Fulham and maybe West Ham are looking to sign him.
I assume Nkunku will be sold. I will be sad about selling him because I’m not sure we got the best out of him and injuries didn’t help. He could be a player we regret saying goodbye to.

I agree slightly about nkunku. I was looking forward for him when he signed unfortunately just another player that doesn't suit premier league I think.
Was great in some of the European games.

I totally agree that if we sell JF for £40mil, that is great business by the SD's.

I would say it's not just Portuguese teams that try and low ball us, over the years, Italian clubs have nade an art of screwing us over and I'm glad we pulled away from the potential AM Veiga deal. Like Tom, I hope we keep him.

Bill, this is just me guessing but the Veiga loan was strange when he was the only cover for our LB and BB was injured. It seemed to me as if something had gone on, it could be that the player just wants to play more but it also seems odd that we are potentially signing Hato for what appears to be the same reasons we signed Veiga.

Just for the avoidance of doubt, I rate Hato far higher than Veiga and I can see Colwill going into the centre of a three.

I tend to agree about Nkunku, I think his time is up at Chelsea but I feel he never got a decent run of games. As for Felix, if we get the reported fee I will be happy but it’s more luck than judgement by the SDs, that a player of his age would go to Saudi. It’s like finding out your best mate is being released from prison but you wonder how he got there in the first place.

Tom, Veiga was indeed signed as cover for Cucu and also as a holding midfielder. The problem came about when his national team manager, that totally inept Roberto Martinez told him to convert to a centre back in order to solve an issue for the national team. Veiga then confronted Maresca who is not a man to mess about with and demanded a starting slot on the left side of our centre backs. Maresca told him, quite rightly, that he was not in his plans to replace Levi and needed to knuckle down, train hard and see what happens. Veiga, backed and encouraged by Martinez then requested a move. The rest is history. I hope this helps you understand the situation mate.

Greenaway, as I said I guessed he wanted to play more but I had no idea about any “actual” falling out with the manager.

He may well have got a chance had he been around when the form of LC dropped off earlier this year.

Never liked Martin's, always anti CFC.

Spot on Greenaway that problem was that Veiga did not want to play LB or LWB only CB. It is a pity cos he looked very good and composed on tne ball and could indeed have been excellent cover for Cucurella but also a back up CB if ever needed there eg in formation change mid-game.

JBS, that is 100% correct. Martinez is a snake and caused this issue. Will turn a nice 20 or 30 million profit though so all good if we get young Hato.
Rumours now picking up that Newcastle want to pay £65 million for Jackson but we want £80 million.

I personally wouldn’t sell him for less than £100m. They are going to get £150m for Isak.

Mind you if they get Jackson maybe that leaves the door open for Sesko. ?.

I think if we wanted Sesko we would have already have gone after him.

Bill, it might depend on if a club comes in with a big offer for Jackson.
