I prefer the term negative to “cowardly” but as I’ve said before for me the false nine sends out a message that your only interested in the counter attack .

Havertz coming from deep would IMO really have hurt the Scousers but it’s all water under the bridge and pure guesswork.

We had no wingers. We’ll be different with Pulisic and Ziyech. But teams give Liverpool too much respect and sit deep. Villa did not let them play easily from the back. Hats off to the villa lads.

We did have two CF’s and chose to play a false nine. For me that was us being timid and showing the Scousers to much respect.

Not go for the “jugular” but I think I said I wasn’t happy with a false nine when the team was announced but maybe I’m dreaming again!
