Am I the only one who thinks that Chelsea's January spending was an incredible achievement - to get Barkley, Emerson (who I think we'll all be amazed that he was so cheap) and Giroud for an outlay of approx £40 mill - wow!

You're not alone, I agree with you. Our summer transfer window was bad considering who left and who signed for us.

i agree the squad has improved, but the starting 11 hasn't, i would of preferred if we signed 2 players of high quality who would walk into our starting 11 and push the other 2 on the bench, i think we are all getting carried away with the fact that we only spent 40 million, in reality 2 of the players had serious injuries and the other will be 32 next September, hence the price of the players are reflected, i'm hearing that Emerson is amazing and all that, but he's only played half a game for Roma this season and nobody knows if he has recovered fully from his horrific injury, or how he will settle in a new league country, language etc.

i always think the best way to improve a squad is to not buy squad players to full a squad, i think the best way is to buy players who are going to seriously improve the starting 11 and the players whose place they take go on the bench, so win win the squad and starting 11 both improve, its dangerous buying second rate squad players because if the first team starters get injured then then the gap in quality is huge.

For what we got and how much was spent it was really good, also have a Cm who’s injured / injury prone it seems and 2 strikers and one of which is injury prone in morata so there were areas we needed to add to or quality needed to be added.
