Sadly family circumstances have meant a last minute change of plan and I'm not at the bridge tonight.

Can't say I'm over enthusiastic about the team selection tonight but I assume injuries have forced the manager to make some changes.

Anyway, COME on MY MIGHTY BLUES.

Sanchez it hasn’t just keeps starting him another goal given away how many more am not being funny but if he keeps picking Janet up top and him in net I hope the pressure starts on manager he’s bringing it on himself.

Sorry you won't be there Tom . its half time and looks as though CFC are missing you. but given last fifteen minutes or so might be another good game to miss. After yet another bright start things fall apart again. Sanchez gives another goal away by not lunching the ball out. and did yet anothe sloppy pass out a bit earlier - but Wolves had gained control. Yet again we look to have nomplan B. Does EM have the tactical ability to do so? We will see in second half soon wnough but haven't seen any sense of tactical awareness or game management for many a game now. We look decidedly mid table mediocrity at times.

looks like your not missing much Tom same rubbish different week?.

Thankfully we seem to be after finding a new life second half these last few weeks have been a tough watch up the blues.

I suppose we will have to ask the question what did EM said to the team at half time? ?

We had a poor 20 mins when we became far too passive. Other than that a pretty routine win.

Can I say that on TV our fans were very quiet.

Nib, what pressure?

Yes good turnaround second half with Cucurella and TC and Caicedo all having good games. Neto and Sanchez not so good.

A good and much needed win and thankfully we did not collapse in the second half.

Surely at some point, Sanchez has to be dropped and still no goal again from Jackson.

I have no problem saying that I rate Jackson but he didn't have good game tonight. He is lacking confidence but that can come back quickly with a goal or two!

what ever he said at half time it worked anyway tom b.

Poch, we haven’t got a clue what gets said from game to game at half time.

Generally throughout last season we came out for the second half looking like we had taken sleeping tablets but that observation gets forgotten if we win. When we were winning this season as far as I can remember no poster mentioned half time team talks. At the end of the day it’s results that makes us fans react.

We got the result we wanted yesterday but it wasn’t a massively impressive performance. We have played a lot better this season and dropped points.

Sanchez, is an absolute liability. De Zebri saw it we see it yet EM doesn’t: is he defending him out of stubbornness? What makes it worse is that the coach and SDs let our best keeper go out on loan. Incidentally, Petrovic has the best stats for accurate passes in Ligue 1.

Sanchez has made some good saves this season not least in away game at Bournemouth but he is liability in the so many mistakes he makes that lead to goals. NOt acceptable and apart from his flapping erro last night there was another moment when he had plenty of time on the ball and space to play it into and sent it looping straight to a Wolves player.

Petrovic had done well last season and should surely have started as our number 1 this season. And TC our best defender - after Silva's retirement - also sent out on loan. CG not thought worth giving a better contract though Lavia injury record immensely worrying, seems Casadei not trusted to fill that role, and KDH though had a good game last night surely not as good as CG in turnovers and goal threat and ground covered.

Has antone had an update on Lavia's latest injury and Enzo's injury? Would hugely hope that they could both be fit for crucial City away game though Cucurella did a great job yesterday in coverfing much of the pitch and yes KDH was energetic and tidy and could grow in confidence and creativity perhaps

Some quite a few unforced errors made last transfer window including not brining in either a worlds sttriker - admittedly not that easy to obtain of course - or at least a support striker who could be trusted to make an impact off bench if not a starter and get more minutes than Guiu.

Biggest sucess was perhaps Sancho on loan though Neto has had some ghood moments and Tosin beginning to settle in. Jorgensen not given much of a chance in first team.

Agree with the above stats on Petrovic a better keeper than Sanchez.

I am generally a big Jackson fan but going through an iffy patch I would possibly give him a rest for the weekend but he does work so hard.

We all use stats that support our argument, I know I do.

This may be misunderstood a conversation I had with a fellow season ticket holder who told me that Sanchez had the best save stats in the premiership whatever that is.

17.) 21 Jan 2025
21 Jan 2025 13:21:53
Every man and his dog, apart from Maresca, can see that Sanchez is a total liability
It's little wonder our defence has been nervous and has hardly kept a clean sheet all season.

18.) 21 Jan 2025
21 Jan 2025 14:16:28
Let me mark it clear that I would rest Sanchez and play Jorgenson for a few games.

So many so called goalkeeping keeping experts moaned that Petrovic didn’t have the goalkeeping “profile” needed for a Chelsea keeper having been playing his football in a less competitive league.

The best place for Petrovic for the remainder of this season is Strasbourg.

The club can evaluate our Keeper issues at the end of the season.

21 Jan 2025 14:28:56
Bill, EM’s half time team talk has worked for the vast majority of games this season.

I repeat I would haven’t a clue what he says at half time but no supporters would bring it up as a subject if we win the game.

20.) 21 Jan 2025
21 Jan 2025 18:41:49
Sanchez is high up on save stats but frankly they are meaningless as they can’t distinguish between top saves and ones which any keeper should make. Incidentally, the bottom two keepers are Alison and Ederson for the least amount of saves: who would you prefer?

21.) 21 Jan 2025
21 Jan 2025 19:12:43
Jimbo exactly, stats are often used to support an argument point of view. In the same way the Petrovic passing stat is useless unless you know the context of the passes.

The same guy who mentioned the stat for Sanchez to be fair touched on a similar point that you are making. He said that Onana had made less mistakes that led to a goal being conceded than Sanchez and has he said who on earth would want Onana as there keeper.

22.) 22 Jan 2025
22 Jan 2025 08:32:39
I agree that stats alone are not that useful for keepers but the errors leading to goals is a solid one: Sanchez is second worst and, of course, that doesn’t include the ones he got away with. I prefer the eye test which he fails miserably. There is a photo of Trev looking daggers at Sanchez after the blunder which says it all.

23.) 22 Jan 2025
22 Jan 2025 10:29:32
Jimbo, the whole team should have been looking daggers at Sanchez in the same way they should look at any player who makes a costly mistake.

In this thread I didn’t bring up the use of stats. I was just pointing out how they don’t tell the whole story about a players performance.

The one that makes me laugh is the passes completed stat. If I remember correctly the top players on that list are VVD and Colwill.
