We've won only 8 games at HOME this season, one more to play, our most creative players are chillwell and James and one was out most of season and James had his injuries, we've had rudiger silva alonso get most goals, we have serious serious creativity problems, mount has good numbers havertz was better, ziyech pulsic Cho offer nothing really let's be honest, and with rudi azpi Christensen going, our priorities will be on defence and DM before attackers,

Man City and Liverpool have each won 14 home games this season, as a comparison.

Said this all year we have no one who can go past people and we have no creative midfielders we have a lot of midfielders that just run a round and like me first boss told me once when I was a young boy
‘Just because you are doing a lot more doesn’t mean you are getting a lot done, don’t confuse movement with progress.

Our home form this season is appalling.

Lack of ideas and movement in front of low block teams is a problem for us in comparison to Liverpool and City.

Both have players who rarely stop moving and are willing and comfortable receiving the ball in tight situations.

We have two forwards who struggle with control and a midfield that can be static and rarely see a forward pass. Of course this could all be part of a TT cunning plan but it’s not easy on the eye. ’.

Astonishingly poor home form this season. For me this shows that we are absolutely not ready to compete for the top spot.
In my opinion there is a mentality issue in our squad which needs to be addressed.

It's frustrating when we have a throw in near the opponents penalty area and 30 seconds later the ball is back with Mendy. I've seen that happen so often in matches.

If you look at the stats across the season, creating chances ain’t the problem it’s finishing them. We had another 19 last night, 1 goal!

Lukaku, Pulisic, Ziyech, Odoi, Werner all need replacing. None of them based on this season are good enough or even consistent enough.

You can see why TT calls it a rebuild, we need about 6 players : (.

FL recognised that this group could not win the PL. He started to move the players that couldn’t deliver toward the door and gave youth a chance. I agreed with most if not all the moves he made in terms of who should be shifted. The only player he (maybe) got wrong Rudiger? I am prepared to give you a debate on that another day. The football however, was sharp and attacking but they couldn’t defend, he paid the price for dropping out the top 4 and the rest is history. Tuchel tackled that, by steadying the ship won a CL. All good. However, what I do not see is a vision for the future, to go forward, a Tuchel style of play. He has played the midfield to a virtual standstill. The forwards do not move in relation to the position of the ball, or on who is in possession at any one time. The recruitment and tactics for me are random, scattergun, not joined up without rhyme or reason. Chelsea loan Gilmour and Gallagher but borrow Saul? (Btw Billy will never be back, the moment has gone, that for me is a disgrace) They sell Livramento and Guehi but keep Alonso and Dave, they loan Broja, sell TA then play without a 9 for weeks on end, they field that disgrace Kepa in the most bizarre of circumstances (Chelsea are a laughing stock for that nonsense) . Not one area of the forward play has improved individually or as a group under Tomas, indeed all the forwards have got worse. Tomas will now work with a budget lower then his predecessors but roughly the same as fellow managers in the top 6, City apart. The trade off is they won’t bullet you in a heartbeat. But does he have the steel, the oomph the personality the guts to really build a team. I do hope so.

Look at how comfortable all the City and Liverpool players look when receiving the ball.

Werner has never had a first touch and Lukaku’s may have slightly improved but not enough for him to bring other players into play. Who gave the green light for those two?

I would suggest that Kovacic is the only player in the side who can carry the ball.

Also, if we can’t find Mount between the lines we are pretty much toothless from midfield.

Stephen, you can’t resist harking back to Lampard and criticising Kepa - who isn’t even playing even though Mendy is very poor. Who are the players that FL ushered out of the door other than Tomori, our best young CB. As for TT he isn’t responsible for players who have gone or come in. You are right though about next season if there is a rebuild we need to establish an identifiable style of play and he will be judged by performances and results.

Jimbo, If I wanted to hark back to a better time in Chelsea managerial history I could easy go to Jose or Carlo. The reason I mention Frank is that he was the first manager to really deal with the RA era “Chapter 2” . The group minus any of the greats. I am stating that I could see what Lampard was trying to do. He was trying to make room by unloading the disastrous recruitment and clear Cobham out, from memory he pinpointed Zappa, Kepa, Baka, Drinkwater, Batshyui, Emerson, Jorginho, Rudiger and then he got Alonso in his sights due to his behaviour and overall below average performances. This was to clear the way for new players that might actually have a tilt at winning the PL, something Chelsea were getting further away from doing, whilst also trying to improve the playing style of the team. I don’t want to quote Roy Keane but as he so avidly puts it “ before getting good players in you’ve got to get the bad ones out! ”
Now I did happen to agree with everyone of those players being sold on. But that is another debate. and Don’t forget FL played more than a third of the season without Kante, he picked and rotated Christiansen, James, Mount, Gilmour, TA, Werner, Pulisic, with relative success in keeping the players turning over decent performances and growing into playing for a club the stature of Chelsea, he changed selections and formations home and away to suit the opponent coming up, he also signed Mendy, Silva, Havertz, Chillwell, Xiyech, Werner. Four of those started the CL final with two on the bench. I accept that Chelsea couldn’t defend under Frank and he unfortunately but deservedly got sacked. But I honestly do think he had a plan, a vision? Tomas has come in and steadied the ship, got top 4 and won the CL. But he is no nearer the title. My post is posing the question as to whether we all think that Tomas has the vision to rebuild the team. because in the 18 months he has been in charge in terms of playing style, formation changes, nothing has actually happened. If anything the overall style of play is stale and all the forwards seem to be getting worse. But Tomas has had to deal with C.V., and the club sale etc, so fair is fair as they say. Big year coming up. With regard to Kepa? He is the worst keeper in Chelsea and PL history, his performances were utterly wretched, including that recent halfwit cameo role in the league cup final. Imagine turning to that no mark to get you out of a jam? but he was true to what he is, a rank failure.

I think we will regret selling Kepa in years to come.

Man Utd have had a few horrors as keepers but in recent years we got spoilt with Carlo, Big Pete and Courtois.

I want TT to carry on winning trophies but I would like to see some football that is a little easier on the eye.

Players leaving this season should be seen as an opportunity on lots of levels.

Ha ha, Stephen you really hate Kepa! Kepa is a better all round keeper than Mendy who looks scared of the ball. Did FL make the decisions to buy or get rid of players, I’m not so sure. Will TT make these decisions, if not, who does? You are right about next season if nothing else I would like to see some sort of system or style of play become clear. Obviously, we don’t know who will be in the squad but I would like to see a settled or preferred front three, the constant chopping and changing has cost us this season. As for next season, I don’t think we should set our sights too high. We know who the top two will be, Man U can’t possibly be any worse, Spurs will be stronger if the hang onto Conte and, of course, Newcastle and their money burning a hole in their pockets. If we can get the balance right of the players coming in and the players going out, I think we will be alright.
