I'm going to propose something that many will think is ridiculous but I think is a good shout.

We should transform Alonso to a striker, because he's natural with it.

Alonso is fantastic in and around the box and has never been given an opportunity there at senior level. For some reason In pro football positions seem locked and no one get chances to play in other positions. One example however, is Antonio. Beginning as a right wing back, he's now a striker and scoring plenty.

As Werner is a very very unreliable striker, I propose we alsono as a striker (once chilly returns to left wingback) .

Thoughts?

Far too slow to be a forward.

{Ed0666's Note - Werner is faster than a whippet hasn’t done him any favours ?

Werner has just got to learn a new way of doing things especially when he’s in the box, I think he often takes the wrong first touch in the box (Werner does have a good first touch but he always seem to take a first touch that takes the ball to his disadvantaged or weak side before he shoots at the goal; I mean, being a striker that is right footed and operates from the left hand side, he has to learn that- when he’s in the box, slow down and trap/ control the ball with your left foot to your right foot before shooting esp when the pass is coming from the right hand side- cos it gives him a wider and better angle of the goal post and a better advantage of finishing with his strong foot which is the right foot) .

From the way things are, Werner’s speed seems to help him everywhere on the pitch except inside the box; hence, he (Werner) can do well to slow down a bit, learn somethings about positioning and finishing from Lukaku (who is older and more experienced scoring in England) . I remember Lukaku in an interview with SkySports said that it was Antonio Conte (in Italy) that thought him what it really took; he continued that he (Lukaku) used to over do things- which is partially Werner’s problem too. I really don’t want Werner to leave Chelsea hence he should learn from Lukaku cos I honestly think Werner has the tools to be a prolific goal scorer like Lukaku (in England) .

Honestly I think Werner and Lukaku can strike up a formidable partnership upfront for Chelsea: one has the speed and runs to create space for the other that can finish; the other has the strength to hold up play and link up the other; but above all, both have frightening pace and can bring down any defence way- running in side by side.

Obinna, I agree with you on Werner and Lukaku, I would like to see them start together but I’m not sure if TT is open to that. Kova has started the season very well so he would be an absolute starter for me at the moment. Rudiger, Christensen and Silva are also on my team sheet and, of course, Rom- I love him and Kai and Jorginho for”big” games. Otherwise, other positions are open for me.

If only Kante could start every game!

TomB I agree with your comment: of Kante starting every game but I also think that his inability to play or start every game is perfect for other central midfielders that we have got in the team, his inability to play every game is or will be very good for even Saul (who has not come up to speed yet) .
