Italy looking good. Donnarumma is a class keeper only 22 looks like he's 30.

For those that don’t think Jorginho is technical enough, I recommend they continue to watch his displays in this Euro tournament. Class player for me any time.

Jorginho has been absolutely brilliant, and not just his passing and technical ability. But his work rate and defensive covering has also been fantastic.

Obinna I agree but you’re wasting your time some people just want him out for Rice.

Yea Jimbo.56; you are right about some people wanting Jorginho out at all cost for Rice; that’s the reason why I like the fact that we have a manager that is top class and sees players for what they really are and not their nationalities; and is also unbiased about their abilities.

Obinna, what has a players nationality got to do with anything?

I brought up ‘nationality’ because I think it can really make some managers biased. I have seen managers always wanting to buy or more interested in players from their own nationality, I think it’s rubbish and don’t make sense.

{Ed001's Note - it is simply because they know there will be no cultural misunderstandings that way. When you spend your life mixing with lots of cultures, you find that those from the same country can act as allies, to help those who don't quite understand get what you are saying etc. That is why managers like to have a base of players of the same nationality. But, they never want as many as the reports suggest, as most of that is made up and it seems you are believing those and basing your distaste on that mate.}

Donnarumma seems to have been around for years. I only saw the first Italy match and I know he didn't have much to do but he seems supremely confident.

I’ve been waiting on this from the Jorginho love in squad. Probably the same mob that thot Sarri was good. I am not blind. Jorginho has played okay and works effectively in certain areas. But Italy have not been tested yet. Come the big games we’ll see where he is. Last night for instance. Italy’s first goal? I didn’t quite see the Italian midfielder who played the pass out to the right hand throw in line, where the boy outran the defender from just over the halfway line to the byline then played a cutback into the six yard box where the same midfielder that played the original pass arrived at speed and smashed the ball into net with a one touch finish. I knew then that it wasn’t snail pace, side pass, weak as water Jorginho that played the fist pass. He was and will be again wretched for Chelsea in the PL. He is a luxury, and Chelsea are slow and poor to watch with him in the team. He had a decent CL tournament, not outstanding, but decent. I for one will be glad to see the back of him. Whether Chelsea sign Rice/ Grealish or not, I want him gone, and I want Chelsea to get their £60m back. Hopefully that clown Sarri will oblige. Billy Gilmour is a better player than him, and will give Chelsea more 8,9, and 10 out of 10 performances than this player. Just to finish my point on the Euros. Gilmour was called out on here for not getting a game for Scotland, (I am a Scot btw), and that Steve Clark is a good coach? (Another debate maybe) In Scotland many people are cracking up around the team selection from Clark including not having Gilmour in the team. Also the non selection Adams up front, and of Nathan Paterson (Rangers) had many confused. This kid Paterson is an exciting attacking overlapping right back, Nathan is the next big thing up there. And yes, if you push me Chelsea should move for him. He would need building physically of course to play PL football but he is a cracker.
Anyway back to the Euros. Take the Germany game. Werner was utterly embarrassing for Germany, with Havertz not much better, yet not one mention on here. That doesn’t worry me though, I think Havertz will be integral to Chelsea in the coming years, Werner is 50:50. So carry on with your Jorginho watch and coming on here with your selective criticisms to suit your arguments. All good. Nothing will change my opinion on how Chelsea go forward form this great season. Miracles do happen you know, Jorginho has won a EL and CL medal. Mind you he cost nearly £60m and that was 4 years ago.

As I keep saying Jorginho is a marmite player.

When TT became manager he had a string of very good performances and the odd bad one.

He isn’t going to suddenly find pace and that can leave us vulnerable at times but he has the ability to dictate games especially European games.

I’m a fan but I’m not blind to his weaknesses.

Stephen you seem to be writing off Italy because Jorginho plays for them. I am enjoying the Euros. Obviously France are favourites but I wouldn’t write off Germany, Italy or Portugal. Timo and Kai were unimpressive in the first game; there’s no argument about that. BG is a young player with a lot of potential but you predictions about his future performances are based on what? Out of interest, how many times have you seen him play?

I'll informed and ignorant comments about a talented but untested kid like Gilmour being better than Jorghino speak more about the person making them than having any semblance of truth.
This is the same kid who can't get into a Scottish pub side and is likely to be loaned to a championship side next season.
I presume this 'analysis' comes from a deluded countryman of the lad?
The hostility towards a player that has anchored both EL and CL wins is staggering and a shameful example of a section of so called supporters.

Strasbourg, supporters and posters are allowed opinions and they are also allowed to criticise.

I have Strong opinions about players that lots of supporters would not agree with. I don’t consider my views to be shameful.

Supporters and posters who disagree with my opinion are still supporters, they just have a different opinion and that for me is a healthy situation.

Jorginho shines when he has legs around him, at Napoli I’m the slower league he had Allan and zeilinski I believe, Italy he has Barrella ( what a player ) and locatelli and chelsea he has kantes, his not a bad player let’s be clear, could we improve, yeah,

17 Jun 2021 12:06:11
I like Jorginho but I agree his lack of pace is a worry. If the club decided to sell him that’s fine as long as the player coming in is an improvement. - players come and go.

obinna, I don't think that anyone has questioned Jorginho's technicality - it is his lack of pace that is not suited to the PL.

I believe that he is a liability and has been very fortunate to have N'golo alongside him. We need to upgrade - whether that is Rice is open to question - it is interesting that reports say we are watching Locatelli (unfortunately his price probably doubled last night! ) .

Gentlemen. I love it. Love your passion for the wee guy Jorginho. But, there is no need to question my opinions on my personality or nationality or the quality of my fellow countrymen when it comes to matters around football. (Just to note Scotland produced arguably the greatest club manager in British footballing history. )
This Jorginho “thing” seems to be particularly thorny. The premis is this. Chelsea paid just short of 60 million quid four years ago for this holding midfielder. He was demanded by the incoming coach Sarri. (I won’t even go there) During that time I have formed the following opinions on his qualities. He can’t run, he can’t tackle, he can’t shoot, and most important of all he can’t play with tempo. The game has to be slow and deliberate. Often turgid to watch. (Well you all remember Sarri. Wee Eden got him out of jail. )
Now that works if your team is in front, and if the game is measured and lazy. If however you need a goal, and you need to up the tempo then nine times out of ten, it would be better to hook Jorginho off. So what does he do? He (basically) recycles the ball in tight areas, he plays short safe passes and is in general a tidy and careful wee player. Just to note The wee Spanish boy at Liverpool bought for £15m off BM is a better version of all this) But All these are perfectly reasonable qualities. However, Jorginho often let's the team down in crucial pressured moments. He misses BIG penalties, and he can turn in 0 out of 10 performances when on PL duty. And I do not mean one or two a season, I mean like half of the games in the PL I think he is awful, really poor. The 1-0 loss to Arsenal and the FA cup final he was absolutely dire. But the coach never dropped him because he had to ensure his confidence was in tact and his match sharpness was all it should be for the CL final, and in fairness it worked. Because Jorginho played well in Porto alongside every other player that night.
With regard to Gilmour. No he shouldn’t be sent out anywhere, he should be at Cobham and when fit, selected in the squad every game, he requires to be developed with the top players that Chelsea have, that way he will arrive at his destination of being Chelsea’s HM quicker. He is a diamond, he is “not one from the bottle” as someone famous one said. What Jorginho actually brings to Chelsea game in game out imo can be easily mimicked by Billy Gilmour. The boy can also recycle the ball in tight areas, he can play short safe passes, he can run better, plus despite his diminutive stature he can block better. Gilmour also has more instinct to play forward passes and can cope better with a quicker tempo. On the flip side he may lack some know how in Europe, but he would have N’Golo and Mason next to him.
Even if Italy were to win the Euros it would make no difference to me around Jorginho. Let me also say on this. I have similar thoughts around Kepa, Alonso, Emerson, and Ziyech. I would like them sold to make room to bring in better players and make Chelsea a better team. You on the other hand think that the team should have Jorginho in and starting, no issues, no insults. Just a difference of opinion on a player/ s at the club. Just to say I hope Jorginho has a cracking tournament. I wish him no ill. I just don’t want to watch him at Chelsea. And I have no preference as to who wins the Euros.

Stephen I have made my feelings about Jorginho known I am neutral. If we can get someone better with a bit more pace, all well and good. It’s your harking on about BG that I take issue with. He has potential but is not ready for regular first team football. Most Chelsea supporters would have only seen him play a few times. What are you basing your assessment of him on, under 23 games? Just for the record, I personally have not nor would I comment on a fellow Chelsea supporters nationally or personality. Chelsea is a club with a huge international fan base of which I am proud to belong. Stephen it’s all about opinions and in any event, TT and the club will make the call and I will support their decisions but reserve the right to disagree.
