Our keeper situation is very tricky. We have Mendy who is exceeding expectations and doing so so well for us right now but things can go south very fast like we saw with FL at the helm. if under TT our results go sideways . he will be under pressure and i don't see Mendy coming up trumps. He is good when the going is good . i have doubts that he is the difference maker when the going gets tough.

Then we have Kepa who is a 70mil flop who is out of confidence and is showing no signs of turning this around. I don't see the option of a loan as it will only add to diminish his value. Best option for us would be to sell him and get a world class keeper in his stead with Mendy being a good No 2 (cup competition) and Ziger our No 3 (WC leaving in the summer)

If donnarumma or oblak is available we should go all out as that could sort our GK situation for the next 4-6 years or even more.

I don't know but ED002 can confirm if we are looking to sign any GK this summer window and who we are interested in? Thanks in advance.

Why would Mendy be happy with being a No2 given the outstanding results we have had under TT?

Mendy will be out for a month with AFCON next year and we canâ€™t Mount a serious title charge with Kepa or Caballero as #2 so we need a new keeper regardless. I like Mendy but Donnarumma at like what is he 22? On a free transfer is too good to turn down in my opinion.

Apropos goal keepers. I think tomorrowâ€™s game against City is going to be close. If it goes to extra time and penalties are looming I would take off Mendy and put Kepa on- just a thought.

Nail on the head Jimbo. I rate Mendy but heâ€™s got a poor penalty record. Kepa is better at penalties than normal saves. Donnarumma is very good at everything thatâ€™s what makes him so good.

A top class keeper is worth a lot of points during a season: if a team wants to compete itâ€™s worth investing is the best keeper you can get; neither of ours are top class.

In fairness I think Kepa really lowered our expectations as far as keepers go. Mendy has been solid in making the expected saves and claiming balls that should be claimed. That said he struggles on the ball and has demonstrated a limited ability to come for balls played behind our back line that most elite modern keepers clean up with regularity. I think Mendy provides the safety of not having to make any panic purchases at the position but I donâ€™t think heâ€™s a world class keeper which realistically we should have.
