So a big big game for us today, it's a huge test but coming so early in the season it will be hard to judge just how far we've improved or not. Especially without so many key players.

But today's lineup I'd go with:

Kepa

James Zouma Christensen Alonso

Kante Kovacic

Mount Havertz Werner

Giroud.

Some might question me for sticking Werner on the left, but I feel he could rinse Trent inside out with his pace. Trent definitely isn't the fastest or best defensively. Werner would also be free to drift in and link up with Giroud when and how he likes. Girouds physical presence would occupy Liverpools CBs and create space for Werner.

Defensively, I'd just stick with the backline from against Brighton. Although you could argue Azpi could come in for either James or Alonso.

Midfield, Kovacic has to come straight back in. He offers us something different that we could all see we lacked last week. And Havertz has to start in the middle, not out wide. We need him to get more involved.

It's going to be a tight game, but I'm going for a 2-1 win. c'mon Chelsea!

Good line up but:
* we need attackers/ wingers/ attacking midfielders that can transition quickly into attack (counter attack)
* we have to exploit the spaces left by Robertson and Arnold when they overlap (cos I know their full backs will surely overlap) - hence I think a winger (perhaps Hudson Odoi) will serve us better than Mason Mount in this game playing on the wing but he has to put in the work.
* I trust Caballero more than Kepa for this
* I feel 4-3-3 serves us better against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool than any other formation.
My team for today’s game will be:

* Caballero;

* James, Rudiger, Zouma, Azpilicueta;

* Havertz (or Barkley), Kante, Kovacic;

* Hudson Odoi, Giroud, Werner.

As may have been clear from my positing after the Brighton game, I would go with the same line-up Bobby, with Havertz in the number 10 slot, Timo coming in at pace from the left (as at Leipzig and giving Trent A-A pegged back) and Giroud our striker keeping VVD and co. busy. I did think Timo needed more help up front v Brighton.

As I said the other day, Giroud is not for me against Liverpool.
