Hypotheticaly if there was a team that finished 4th this season and it was the managers first season, and this team happened to have 6/ 7 really good young players with a few having world class potential, and these youngsters improve every season with the experience they gain and game time they get, and binding these youngsters together with really good senior players, and again Hypotheticaly this team were to finish 4th then add to their talented young team with 3/ 4 signings like werner, Chilwell, ziyech, ect plus a player like rlc being like a new singing so in my opinion 4 top class players added to a squad that is already good enough for 4th place, so again Hypotheticaly but what position would this 4th place team finish with the additions of werner, ziyech, Chilwell and rlc and the management going into the second season and youngsters being that little bit better, dare I whisper a title challenge?

I think we're looking at a 3-5 year plan. Years 1-3 rebuild and get competitive again, 4-5 mount serious challenges on all fronts.

But we've nicked titles before when they weren't necessarily expected.

I hope its not 4-5 years before we challenge again, guardiola did it in 1 year from finishing 4th to winning the league, City signed Jesus, Sane, B. Silva, Gundogan prior to getting their defence in place. Klopp secured Mane, Salah, Ox, Gini prior to getting VvD, Robertson etc. In fact, every top team going through a rebuild has done that. Real in 2009 (Benzema, Kaka, Ronaldo, Alonso) . PSG in 2017 (Neymar and Mbappe) . I think a world class attack can carry a team, 1 of our biggest problems this season wasn't necessary our defence it was missing so many easy chances and giving the opposition a chance in the last 10 minutes because we should have put the game to bed early on, which in turn put unnecessary pressure and anxiety on our defence, also giving the opposition belief, hopefully with ziyech and werner and rlc we will kill games off early and see them out.

I think a settled back four will be very important to this team. We'll see changes, both players and formation, in midfield and attack; whilst the back four (and goalkeeper) need to be a consistent unit.

We obviously need a lb, and that should be sorted this summer, Ampadu could come in and star, Tomori could take a massive step up, but I don't expect to see a settled defence and goalkeeper next season.
