Where do we stand on Jorgi's future if Billy continues to impress? Think Billy has done well so far and not to get ahead of ourselves but he'd be better on the right side of a midfield three more like a Xavi type because he has the legs and he's more athletic than Jorgi. Still don't think he's the answer as the holder in the future. Billy is more of a creator than a regista. Much prefer to still see us sign a proper holding midfielder this summer and then use Gilmour/ Kovacic/ RLC/ Mount as the box to box players either side. Think we'd be stupid not to cash in on Kante this summer with his age and persistent niggles. Not entirely sure he fits Lampard's future system either.

Players improve and learn everyday, I am not in doubt Jorginho is watching Gilmour and will surely learn a few things from Gilmour (to improve his game) just as Gilmour has clearly learnt a few from Jorginho.
I am and will never be in support of selling Jorginho (unless we get another defensive midfielder that offers what he does and is more combative- not Kantesque) . I believe Jorginho still has plenty to offer.
I agree with you BillyGoat as a regards Kante; if a very good offer comes in for him, I support the club sells him and reinvest his cash in to the team. You will notice that that Chelsea's performance was very good and the team went on a winning run in the first part of the season when Jorginho partnered Kovacic in midfield; and performance dropped off when Kante regained fitness and was reintroduced into the team. Please don't get me wrong Kante is world class but he's just at that stage in his career when it's ok to sell him; and he seems to be struggling under Lampard.

Kante has never played holding midfielder not even at Leicester. Conte tried him there in his first 10 games in a 4-3-3 and he was awful. As good as kante is he has no positional sense to play at the base. It’s a very hard position to master.

So kantes the best defensive minded midfielder about. Gilmore can play the role and is forward thinking. Breaking forwards and passing and has energy to cover a lot of ground, Mount is ( at times ) a good 10, presses and drops and has energy, so wouldn’t a 4231 be what’s needed, kante and Gilmore the deeper, both can break both defend and both have energy,

Mount played better as an #8 weekend same as Loftus-Cheek and Barkley do so why change it? We just need a solid holding midfielder who has positional sense. Someone likes Marquinhos would be great he’s been fantastic their for PSG and can fill in at CB. Great in the air and a threat from corners as well something which we’ve missed. He’s also a leader which we still need. Think someone like Marquinhos or an Ndidi at the base is what we’re missing. Gilmour, Kovacic, RLC and Mount either side and we are good going forward. Ziyech can also play there.
