Really hope I'm wrong but if we sign Zaha and Ake in Chelsea the board and Marina have learnt nothing over the years. We've got youngsters who are perfect squad fillers. What we need now is world class players or will world class potential. We need to be aiming for the likes of Koulibaly, Chilwell and Sancho. I'd rather sign no one in January than more mediocrity. Not saying Ake and Zaha are average they're just no better than what we've got.

Zaha for me is better than what we have a minute better than Pedro more in form that Willian over the season more in form than cho who has disappointed for me, there’s only Pulisic that’s really stepped up but that’s dropped off so I think he would be a good signing not to bothered about ake has 1 good game in 10.

I agree he’s better than what we have in Willian and Pedro but for how much about 50 million? Why not just pay double for Sancho and then our wings are sorted for ten years with a world class player potentially.

Beside Sancho being English, I really don't rate him as many fans here but that may be me not seeing enough of him. I feel he's over hyped like many other English players Wilshere, Welbeck, Walcot, Barkley etc and we can get a more solid winger for the amount we are likely to pay for Sancho.

I would prefer Ziyach, spelling, or even other better wing players.
Again I think we need an imposing central midfielder to bring balance and steel. Jorginho divide opinions but I think he's deficient in big and fast games. Maybe smaller team where control the game. I would sell Barkley in addition to others already known to be on the exit.

So we need a CB, LB, midfielder, winger and striker who I expect to be starters maybe except for the striker. All ofcourse can't be done in the january window. I don't really know who fit the bills but IMO we have these needs. So your thoughts.

I agree about a midfielder where others rave over Jorginho. He’s a good player Jorginho but he won’t win ya titles. I’d really like us to go after Lisandro Martinez for defensive midfield from Ajax. Fast, technical, a brilliant tackler with tenacity and he scores headers from corners too. Apart from the goals he reminds me of a young Mascherano.

Jorginho won't win you titles cos he isn't playing in the team that suits his style of play, if he was in Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona or with Sarri, I bet you will see his phenomenal side that will win you trophies; Jorginho's quality is never in doubt for me cos I see it every day. We have a coach (in Lampard) that is still mastering/ learning (a philosophy, his players and tactics esp in big clashes) and I strongly think Lampard's relative inexperience is showing in the way the he picks his eleven, positions his players on the field of play and apply his players to get results. Don't be quick to judge Jorginho cos some weeks back he was showing every one his abilities.

@Obinna, nobody is saying he's not good but he appears a weak link in the midfield when we are being pressed by opposition with pace. You can see it in his yellow card because at best he commit a foul to stop an attack. He can be at his best when we are fully in control of the game. We need a player that can do what he does and add steel in protecting the back four like Essien did or even as Fabinho is doing.
Like someone said earlier, Havertz fits the bill and some other players of his ilk.

@FrankisKing, you have to remember the criteria which Chelsea seem to conduct transfer business nowadays. When they are in the market for a player, they do not engage in auctions and do not compete with others for signatures (rules out Sancho, Koulibaly and Chilwell immediately), they pay what they think is a fair price (not market rates and hence leaves you with B/ C list of players to go after) and like deals which are relatively straight forward to complete. So judging off that criteria, Aké and Zaha are not surprising in the slightest when they are put forward as the options they will be going after. Do they improve anything; as per your point? Absolutely not; but that is the way things are now with Chelsea as a club. No longer dining at the very top table.

i doubt zaha is an option given the valuation palace gave arsenal this summer. why sancho could be more of a do-able deal is his age
the board no a big signing will rarely lose value if they have youth on ther side.
