Oh yes! I want young players to be given a chance at Chelsea but this excitement about young players by Lampard should be tampered with a pinch of salt. There's Carabao Cup for Billy Gilmour and even Tomori, I see no reason why Lamps should have brought him in for Kovacic.

Kovacic was knackered so needed to be replaced with a midfielder. Gilmour was the only fit central midfielder on the bench so he came on. RLC is injured, Kante is injured, Bakayoko looks set to leave and Drinkwater has gone on loan. The injury to Pedro has dragged an extra midfielder into the front 3 which means we have even less central midfielders. Gilmour was the only real option to bring on.

More importantly, I question why Barkley was taken off and Mount kept on. Barkley had been lively and creative going forward whereas Mount was missing for most of the match.
