Ed001, how many new players do you think Chelsea need?

I personally feel we need 6 new players in addition to Pulisic.

CF - (Haller or Isak for me)
LW - (Insigne/ Sancho/ Bailey/ Felipe
Anderson)
CM - (Sarabia/ Mount/ Ndombele/ Rabiot)
DM - (Kovacic or someone specialized like Thiago Mendes/ Weigl/ Brozovic)
CB - (Boubacar Kamara/ Zouma/ Romagnoli/ Tah)
RB - (Reece James)

I don't know how suited will Mount and Zouma be for their respective roles, so they are not definite choices for me unlike Reece.
What are your thoughts?

{Ed001's Note - it depends on what you mean by new? If you are counting loan players coming back as new, then that is one thing. I would not count them as new players though, so I would say you don't need any new players, you just need to replace those who go. And one of them to go should be Barkley.

When you look at your squad, including all the players who are out on loan being back in, it looks very strong. Only real weakness would be up top, unless you can get Morata to actually figure out how to kick the ball!}

I included loan players as well since some of them are more than capable of playing for us like Zouma, Reece and Mount.

But we will still have to get new players at DM (Jorginho's cover), LW (Hazard's replacement who will rotate with CHO) and a starting striker.

{Ed001's Note - you can simply play 2 deeper in mid, with one of them Kante it matters little which other midfielder it is as he even made Drinkwater look Premier League level.}

Jovic, Pepe, Romagnoli and Chilwell and were done. James, Zouma, Mount and Tammy back from loan.

I don't think we need to buy a lot of new players. Loanees can fill most of the needs.
I'd have Zouma, Aina/ James, Mount and Tammy coming back.

Then I think buying a top striker is a necessity. There aren't many available sadly. Jovic would be amazing but won't happen. Haller is a good option as well. Or Isak perhaps, though he'd probably rotate more with Giroud and Tammy. But it could work, without putting too much pressure on him too soon.

Other necessary buy I think is indeed a mid that can rotate with Kante and Jorgi. Tonali would be a dream. Don't know many others who could do it. Barella perhaps, but according to Ed002 he wants to stay in Italy.

Do you not rate barkley ed001.

{Ed001's Note - not in the slightest as I know he is only a moment of boredom away from slipping back into his old ways. So far he has benefitted from behaving much more professionally and not spending every night out on the lash but he doesn't exactly have a big group of friends outside of Chelsea players in London to go out with. I just can't see that staying the case forever. He is a bit like Gazza was, easily led, and the club will need to keep a close eye on his acquaintances.}

I wasn't aware that he was the kind, Ed. Cheers! I always pictured Barkley as a "nice, introverted kid. "

On another note Ed, where would Mount fit best in our midfield? Playing the role Kante plays or the one Loftus-Cheek does?

{Ed001's Note - no mate, that was why he has so many problems at Everton, they were unable to control him and keep him away from bad influences. Chelsea have done a good job so far, but it seems unlikely it will last. However you do never know. He might have realised how much better he can play and how his career is moving forward again and value that enough to keep on the straight and narrow. He can go out on the lash every night if he likes after his career ends and it is a short career, it is not that big a sacrifice to wait!

I am not sure mate, I don't think he is fully developed yet and so could become better at either, depending on which one he plays. Once he establishes himself in one position, I expect he will grow into it and that will become his best one.}

Thank you Ed001. That part about Mount really made my day.

{Ed001's Note - he looks a very good prospect, all about keeping his head on right. He has the potential to be a very good player for a team challenging for the title, but it is all up to him!}

I really want us to integrate our youth, Ed. But there is a slight fear in me if they can be good enough. When I look at the squads that Liverpool and City have, I wonder if the likes of CHO, Mount and Reece can compete with the likes of Mane, Trent, De Bruyne etc.
