Lots of links with Aurelian Tchouameni after his performances for France in the nations league.

Question for posters, would you rather Rice or Tchouameni. Touch one.

I admit, I haven't really watched Tchouameni, but I would love us to have Rice. He fits the bill for us and he is a proven player in the PL.

Such a tough one. Rice is proven to be at the highest level in the league. But, for me, Tchouameni has a higher ceiling of ability. I'd probably say Rice in the end, although either would be excellent additions to our squad.

We have been doing this comparison on this site for some months now and my stance still remains that I will take Tchouameni a thousand times over Declan Rice.

I am optimistic that RLC might be better than both in that role. Or Ethan Ampadu. That said, I like Rice, but he is not worth the money the media say he is worth. Simple as that. We are still waiting to see if Saul can do anything for us in that role. I think an older player with experience is what is needed in that position tbh.

I think RLC plays a role congruent with Jorginho which is about possession circulation and advancement rather than the talents offered by Rice and Tchouameni who specialize in ball recovery. That said it’s an incredibly difficult question as in my opinion. AT has a much higher ceiling athletically than Rice but Rice has everything you could want from a mental perspective in terms of leadership and additionally has an emotional connection with the club which I think all of our fans should be able to identify has an effect. Overall if it was a random club I’d say AT no question but DR’s relationship with our club makes this a toss up.

Don’t think we will be in the market for midfielders until the summer. I think the only possible signing in January might be a CB dependent on Christensen and Rudiger signing new contracts. I don’t think RLC fills any role in midfield, even when he is fit he is inconsistent and goes missing in games. As for Rice I think WHU will be asking too much but who knows.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are not considering Rice.}

I understand that. While I do think Rice is better than Potato, there's no doubt for me that both Bread and - especially - Pasta is superior to Rice.

Interesting Ed. Thanks for the information and it save the never ending debate.

I understand Christensen has agreed new deal just a matter of when he signs. Ed does that mean Chelsea are interested in Tchouameni after dropping interest in Rice?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching - this has been explained many times.}

Egg Fried? Special fried? Thai sticky?

If it's Thai sticky I'm into Rice.

Thank God Chelsea are not considering Rice, I wish Rice a safe and fruitful travel to Manchester.

Besides the fact that Tchouameni and Rice are good at shielding the back four, my biggest issue with Rice as a central defensive midfielder is his ability on the ball. His control on the ball isn’t as good as Tchouameni’s. I think ball control is the first and most fundamental attribute of a midfielder. Tchouameni’s ease of ball control and and flair on the ball makes him a better player for me. Rice clearly has more Leadership on the field but Tchouameni can develop that over time.

NB: Personally, the first quality I look out for in a midfielder is his ball control in tight space; then passing ability etc.

If Ed002 says we're not considering Rice, then that's enough for me, so we move on. I remember back a while where Chelsea wanted Tonali as first choice, but it never happened. So, Ed002, in midfield, what is the clubs preferred choice as of now?
At the back, which I realise you're not happy to comment on given previous comments from posters, is Kounde at Sevilla still an option which the club wish to pursue, either in the the January window or the summer, or has the strategy changed?
As a long time watcher/ reader of your info and one who genuinely waits for your input, I would appreciate any information that you may have in regards to the clubs thinking in the future. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - The first choice remains Aurelien Tchouameni (DM/CM) Juventus and Chelsea have all declared an interest in the player. Manchester United could look to him. Borussia Dortmund are interested in upgrading Axel Witsel and have looked at him as have others.
Jules Kounde (CB) Chelsea were planning to look to a deal again in January but priorities will probably shift and other options are being considered. Don't rule out a Real Madrid offer but they would look to include players. Price could block any move.}

I really don't ubderstand this obsession about rice like he's world class. it now looks stupid as not even the club are not interested at least as per ed update. Business wise, it doesn't loook attaineble.

Ed002 what other cbs are being considered thanks.

{Ed002's Note - As previously mentioned but much is dependent on whether one or two are needed and those coming through.}
