I’ve got little time for stats but I would be interested in his?

I may well be getting mixed up with someone else but didn’t he have a few injuries last season?

Yes Tom he has but if it’s a loan with a big wage cut it makes sense. I’m with Jackson on a Tchouameni as I think we need a similar Kante player to replace him and play alongside him through the season. Maybe that could be Chalobah though.

It's puzzling why we would want a player who only scored 2 goals in 41 games and provided very few assists.
Surely a player who can score and provide assists on a regular basis should be the profile of player we are looking for?

A loan for Saul is a smart move if we can pull it off, it means we can still get Tchouameni next season (if we still want him by then) cos it’s looking like Monaco doesn’t want to sell Tchouameni in this window which means Monaco might have put an unreasonably high valuation on him- next season seems more fruitful and the player would have matured more.

NB: There’s no doubt that Tchouameni is a baller though.

Good point about a loan being good business for the club but the stats Strasbourg is quoting don’t read well.

I suppose the stats could be misleading if he is a DM who just sits.

For me it's not about stats, goals and assists. But I don't think he's at the level required for Chelsea anymore. He used to be, but he's fallen off.

We should steer clear, even for a loan.

I honestly prefer Ampadu/ Chalobah for the 4th CM/ DM role. We can even play James there! We already have very few assists/ goals from midfield, I don't get this at all.

Who knows, perhaps if Shaktar Donetsk qualifies ahead of Monaco (for the UCL), that might loosen Monaco’s hold on Tchouameni this summer?

What we don't need is a player whose confidence is shot to pieces and who has been performing poorly for most of last season on loan or otherwise.
On top of that his wages are ludicrous for a player of his calibre.
Stick with what we have until we can genuinely improve our first eleven or bring in a top kid for the future.
