Ed002 any truth we are interested in nottingham forest defender murillo?

{Ed002's Note - Murillo (CB) The sharks are circlisng as Nottingham Forest look to shore the club up against further FFP charges and move players on. Liverpool and Chelsea have have sent scouts but I understand both consider him physically short to meet their desires. Barcelona have also sent scouts as they see him as versatile enough to fit in a three with their revamped defence.}

Ed002 are we interested in lamine camara?

{Ed002's Note - He was watched but cannot move to England and has no intention of moving.}

Ed002 reports saying we scouted gyokeres vs portugal and are going to make an offer soon? Any truth and with osimehen now looking unlikely is he the priority main target for cf? Or is it sesko or someone else? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about the timing of bids.}

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Mar 2024 19:41:45
With the osimhen deal looking less likely has gyorkeres our no1 target?

Has a release clause so Chelsea and others know what they have to do if they want him.

23 Mar 2024 07:24:50
Ivan Toney has to be the number one priority this summer. Jackson is getting better with each game and will be ready to lead the line soon. Toney is EPL proven and will do the job for a couple of seasons. Don't waste crazy money on a striker, if we are going to spend big, get a proven CB in ???.

22 Mar 2024 21:58:04
Ed002 Is he our first choice option now for cf?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are already looking at other options as they are not convinced Osimhen will want to join in the summer.}

23 Mar 2024 21:19:44
LukakWho imo don't see Tony an improvement on Jackson. besides can't understand how exactly Tony is proven rpl striker what exactly has he proven?

24 Mar 2024 19:39:30
Despite a headers v Brentford and Villa, Jackson doesn’t have the physical and Ariel box threat Toney has, great back to goal 40 yards from goal to give and go or channel runs but when we’ve needed to cross v teams who have numbers in the box, Jackson isn’t in the mould of a Toney or giroud or adebayo awonyi Antonio who’s going to cause panic and win those headers. The ones where you turn a ok cross into a goal rather than scoring header from a cross pin pointed onto his head.

24 Mar 2024 22:20:16
Ed002 do you think we will get gyokeres or try for him? Or is price too high? I personally see us getting sesk. And with Brighton connections could we maybe look at Ferguson?

{Ed002's Note - (1) He is not the first choice. (2) Ferguson would be well down the list.}

27 Mar 2024 13:35:09
Martin I don't get the hype around toney and Jackson only need time to settle down and I think he will perform when we have a formidable team not what poch is doing now. Toney is not even a big fish in a small pond yet you are raving about him. He's not Chelsea level much less one to improve us. So your fabricated skills of toney is a joke to me.

28 Mar 2024 15:30:28
Matt, Haaland isn’t very good in the air. Actually do any of the team in the top five teams play with the sort of CF you describe?

I’m not even sure how many top clubs in any top league play with that type of CF anymore!

29 Mar 2024 15:06:34
I disagree Haaland is okay in the air. Just because teams in the top five don’t have a CF who is good in the air doesn’t mean they don’t want one. Why wouldn’t they, apart from posing a threat in the opponent’s box it is also useful defensively e. g Drogba.

29 Mar 2024 16:56:12
For better or worse the so called modern CF has to have a more rounded game than being good in the air. A good first touch, good movement and pace now seem to be a bigger priority for the better teams in Europe not just the Premiership.

29 Mar 2024 17:26:03
I didn’t realise there is such a thing as a modern CF, I am not suggesting that being strong in the air is the only attribute for a CF but imo a top striker should be good in the air.

29 Mar 2024 17:45:48
In this case I’m using the term “modern” to reflect the current trend.

It would be wonderful if a CF had every attribute but unfortunately that’s is very rare. It would appear that most successful teams and there managers have decided that being good in the air is as important as it used to be.

I’m not even sure my No1 choice (Osimhen) is that good in the air.

29 Mar 2024 19:26:37
Tom, Osimhen is good in the air.

29 Mar 2024 22:24:13
You may or may not remember but I went over to Naples at the end of last season, partly to join in what I thought was going to be a victory parade but Also to see my No1 choice as our CF play.

Needless to say the plan didn’t work out as I had hoped but I did take the opportunity to have many drinks with Napoli fans. I was very keen to bring the conversation around to the player rather than the team. They talked about his pace and work rate more than any other attribute. Obviously I had watched him throughout that season as I have tried to this season, including AFCON, when he was average. I have never thought of him as being brilliant in the air. If that’s another skill he has so much the better.

21 Mar 2024 09:49:51
So Fabrizio Remano, a VERY reliable football reporter has reported that Gallagher asking for wages that are excessively high is untrue, and it's more of a case of chelsea not knowing what they want to do with him and potential necessity of selling him due to our excessive spending and FFP worries.

Shame.

21 Mar 2024 11:54:05
If you choose to read comics that is your choice. Why not trust what the ED's on here say?

{Ed001's Note - it is not so much that. It is that you need to question where he would have got the info from. Romano would have got it from Gallagher's agent, so it will be coloured by his bias. What he considers excessively high might be totally different from what any of the rest of us would think.}

21 Mar 2024 12:19:14
Thanks ED for clearing that up.

{Ed001's Note - he may be right, that is the thing, but you do need to take it with a pinch of salt due to the source. It might very well be that he is making very reasonable requests and the issue is simply the club viewing him as an easy money maker to sell. But Romano is only giving one side of the story, so you always have to bear that in mind.

And you are very welcome.}

21 Mar 2024 12:59:27
Thanks again ED, it is nice to get a balanced view.

{Ed001's Note - always a pleasure G8.}

22 Mar 2024 07:58:21
Don't really understand but both seem to correlate. his high demand could lead to his sale to raise money to meet up with the financial regulation. I really don't mind if he goes or not so long as we can get an upgrade but I can't trust boely on that though. Conor is only energetic but lacks te football sense and technicalities to play in such advanced roles.

22 Mar 2024 14:20:59
Conor has done better than most other CFC players this season with exceptions of Gusto and Palmer imho.

22 Mar 2024 16:29:41
The only info on this issue thus far is that Conor is asking for too much money.
Presumably this is the club briefing certain parties and should be taken with a pinch of salt as well?
It's clear he's a popular players with most Chelsea fans who would take a dim view if he was sold particularly if that was to Spurs.
It's also likely that the club will need to sell some homegrown players to help fund the excessive spending on untested young foreign talent.
I am sure this will be noted by players in the academy.

{Ed001's Note - yes, it should.}

22 Mar 2024 21:42:28
If they are truly good enough and both parties want a Chelsea future it will happen. JT, went on loan, came back and the rest is history. (Bates era), Rice, deemed not good enough (Roman era), Musiala, chose to leave (Roman era), James (Both club and player wanted it to happen (Roman era) . Tammy, wanted to stay but not a TT pick so left (Roman era) . the list is endless.

22 Mar 2024 22:29:43
Absolutely KDrog, it's already been made abundantly clear Boehly and co. See the academy as a way to offset there outrageous signings and excessive fees. Every indication is that were fine in ffp but we do have to raise a substantial amount through player sales and Chalobah and Gallagher represent pure profit. Even though they've been better than Disasi and enzo this year, and others, they will likely be sold along with mattsen etc.

23 Mar 2024 21:35:41
By outrageous signings, you clearly mean outrageously good signings, Yes, I agree, I think the investment in quality young players is to be applauded. Cutting the wage bill too. We are in good shape moving forward. And did you watch Enzo tonight? and Conor? if you didn't, you might want to.

23 Mar 2024 23:58:04
No g8 by outrageous signings I mean the lack of a strategy. Buying 5 players for the same position (Caicedo, Lavia, Ugo, Santos and Casadei) for massive sums. Some transfers I liked but all in all many were so unnecessary and that's now likely put us in a position where we need to sell to comply for FFP.

One game doesn't change that g8, Gallagher has absolutely been more influential and better than enzo this year. Enzo has talent but he has improvements to make.

25 Mar 2024 13:57:16
Completely agree Standard one poor/ good game for a national side doesn't define a season.
The club have signed three midfield players who have barely played in the first team totalling £100m but not to worry they are on low wages!
Currently they are costing us around 1 million Per Game!
Whereas Conor who has been more or less ever present is being greedy and cost nothing!
It would be tough to make this stuff up and be regarded as sane!

28 Mar 2024 13:19:54
This may come as a shock but for all players get wages.

The players we have signed are to replace the players we have ever sold or whose contract was up. Those replacements probably give the club a lower wage bill and a better chance of complying with PSR going forward.

One would think injuries are a new occurrence. Less we forget James, Chilly, Pusilic and many more. The club do not sign players because they want them injured fgs.

29 Mar 2024 17:23:15
Pulisic has made 47 appearances for club and country this season!

29 Mar 2024 18:24:53
Actually, Pusilic echoed a point i made in another post about player rotation.

He suggested that he is clear of injuries this season because he is playing regularly. It was reported by Ashley Cole recently that “full on” games were played at the end of each training session under Jose. Apparently Carlo was shocked to see this type of training when he came to the club.

29 Mar 2024 19:36:55
Tom, that may be the case for Pulisic but when James and Chilwell return from injury they get plenty of game time but get injured again.

30 Mar 2024 06:46:19
Chilly seems to do slightly better than James on the recurring injury front.

Anyway, that wasn’t my point and this is just my theory. Rotation of players is apparently a necessity. So, to keep players match fit training games in my opinion have to replicate a premiership match in intensity.

16 Mar 2024 14:18:42
Ed002 are we interested in ait nouri.

{Ed002's Note - Well down the list - Chelsea has a much preferred option.}

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Mar 2024 18:14:32
with james and chilwell so injury prone is it possible the club would look to offers for both especially with the emergence of gusto this season?

17 Mar 2024 10:47:18
Just like we did last time, I think we should sign a reliable left back. Chilwell can't stay fit over a period and an experienced player could help with the position.

18 Mar 2024 08:34:36
Cucarella is doing well this season and is very experienced.

18 Mar 2024 07:53:32
Ed002 us miguel gutierrez the preffered option? Are we interested in him?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

18 Mar 2024 09:29:20
Agree tom i like cucerella id would sell chillwell and buy a left back like gusto young and full of potential or keep maatsen if we can.

18 Mar 2024 10:55:03
We have Maatsen if we want to go down that path.

My guess is they will stick with Cucarella and Chilly then sell Maatsen. ’.

18 Mar 2024 23:13:02
I think there’s a release clause for maatsen in his loan deal anyway? So Maatsen staying isn’t entirely in our own hands anymore should Dortmund decide to make the bid. At least as far as I understand.

19 Mar 2024 10:38:22
Ed002 I'm assuming alphonso davies is the first choice but with his price and madrid strongly interested I can't see it unless we have a chance? Do we? Balde we have liked and with barcas wage issues maybe attainable but doubt it. Robinson is good but probably too old for what we go for now and price maybe too high and are we interested in feyenoord impressive Lb hartman? Thanks.

14 Mar 2024 11:03:40
ED02 if I may, are we interested in Leny Yoro?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

Agree0 0Disagree

14 Mar 2024 00:56:37
Any interest on Musiala?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

Agree0 0Disagree

14 Mar 2024 11:12:31
Thabks Ed. Ref for anyone else.
Ed002's Note - Jamal Musiala (AM/ LW) Bayern Munich have no interest in selling the player who spent 8 years at Chelsea although Chelsea will raise the possibility of offering two players plus cash to take JM back.

{Ed002's Note - You can add to that Manchester City consider him an option to replace KdB.}

14 Mar 2024 21:24:51
Musiala is definitely beyond our reach right now, sadly so. No way, even if Bayern would somehow agree to sell him, would Musiala join a club outside of Champions League.

I'd love for him to return to Stamford Bridge, it's a damn shame he left at all (though hard to argue it didn't work out superbly well for the player), and he's a lovely player to watch. He'd be the next artist back at the Bridge, after Hazard. But we're simply not at the level right now where we can properly compete for players of Musiala's level.

14 Mar 2024 21:51:17
It was reported that we get 20% of any on sale.

He looks a good player but it would appear City are favourites to sign him.

11 Mar 2024 18:27:34
So PSR is being scrapped.

Agree0 0Disagree

11 Mar 2024 21:04:28
what is that likely to mean teams can spend what they want.

11 Mar 2024 22:30:09
It’s not being scrapped ? it’s changing slightly to match UEFA’s FSR, pretty much the same thing really. Clubs only being allowed to spend 85% of turnover on wages and transfers. Think there’s still things to figure out but don’t think it’ll change tooo much.

11 Mar 2024 22:59:21
Fuser, it is being scrapped mate.

12 Mar 2024 22:51:49
I’m sorry but very few fan’s understand FFP and my guess would be very few will understand any new proposals.

Why do we bother with worrying about it? If our club has in some way in the past we f? cked up then we deserve to be punished and if it happens for a future offence, so be it.

13 Mar 2024 12:39:24
Tom fans are allowed to care about the finances if they want too. I'm more supirsed when people don't care. It's one of the most important things in the sport. Do you expect an American to not care about the salary cap in the nba or nfl?

Again, 'so be it' in response to cheating is a bit too 'turn the other way' ish to me. I'm obviously not saying we're cheating, i think we skirt the rulez but that's okay
but if we were cheating I'd be a bit dissapointed.

13 Mar 2024 15:35:41
Standard, let me know when you understand FFP or PSR. I’m honest enough to say I don’t understand either of them.

I repeat if we are ever punished for breaking any rules I’m not going to bleat about. I will just assume that we deserve it.

Unlike you I have seen zero evidence that suggests we
“Skirt the rules. ” As far as I’m concerned, a team either conforms to the so called rules or breaks them.

13 Mar 2024 15:49:11
I should have also added that even if I did understand FFP and PSR I wouldn’t have a clue about the CFC”s financial position and how to apply it to FFP or PSR.

14 Mar 2024 04:54:01
I understand the amortisation pretty simply. Why are you so stand-offish and defensive?

An example of skirting the rules would be amortisation over an 8 year period rather than the standard 5, it was considered a loophole and it was subsequently stopped. If the rule isn't in place, absolutely make the most of it I say but I'd say that's an example of skirting, and not in a bad way.

14 Mar 2024 06:08:50
So like me you don’t understand FFP or PSR.

Also, working within the rules isn’t “skirting the rules. ”.

14 Mar 2024 06:41:49
Standard

How is it skirting the rule when there was no rule in place that we could not do deals over an 8 year period.

The rule has since been amended so that we can't do that going forward as you mentioned.

14 Mar 2024 07:06:11
Bill, I’m probably wrong but I think the “term” of a contract can still run for any agreeable duration.

14 Mar 2024 07:21:56
Bill I used the worst skirting, not breaking. There was nothing wrong with it as there was no rule in place as explained. But it was a method used to get around ffp absolutely, and although it is risky, I think it smart.

Tom as I typed, I understand it, it really isn't that hard to understand. Did you misread or something?

14 Mar 2024 07:42:57
Good, so you can now explain FFP and PSR to the posters on this site when we have a question on the subject.

So, under the current rules is there a maximum term/ duration for a players contract?

That’s my first question. I will have loads more over the coming seasons.

14 Mar 2024 11:18:13
I'm not sure what I've done to deserve this hostility Tom. I apologise if I've upset you somehow. I've actually stuck up for you a few times on here. dissapointing.

14 Mar 2024 12:32:00
I’m not sure what is “hostile” about asking a question on subject you “understand” but ho hum if you can’t answer the question no problems.

I find it very “disappointing” when I’m constantly miss-quoted by you but I guess that’s the way things are in life.

Just as aside im never that bothered when my opinions are different from other posters. I can’t imagine being a person who would gloat about victory or prefer defeat just to prove a point. God, what a s@it life that would be!

14 Mar 2024 22:40:10
I'm constantly miss quoted by you also so that's quite ironic. I've suggested many times for you to slow down and read my post again because multiple multiple times you've misquoted or misunderstood me.

15 Mar 2024 06:54:31
I assume “misunderstood” is a poker term for a crap hand.

15 Mar 2024 22:48:55
And you've confirmed my point. If you're just going to be negative to my every post why bother replying?

16 Mar 2024 03:10:49
Surely the point of posting anything is to get a reply, regardless if any reply is positive or negative!

16 Mar 2024 10:17:23
Tom, to be clear on the hostility Standard is referring to, your replies have come across extremely passive aggressive. Whether you meant it that way or not, that is how it reads. Furthermore, Standard also explained to you that he understood about the amortisation part of FFP, however you decided this clearly meant he claimed to understand FFP as a whole.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with two different views on a subject and having a debate, however your replies are becoming predictable every single time anyone talks about money. You simply say you don’t care about the finances as you don’t understand aspects of it. If this is the case then that’s absolutely fine - however it is far from constructive in consistently repeating that statement across multiple threads. You may not care, others certainly do. What others care about is completely up to them.

FFP is a big thing in the game at the moment, and for the foreseeable future, many people are going to be interested in this and to varying degrees of an understanding. You need to just get used to this instead of calling the pot pink.

16 Mar 2024 10:53:26
Cech, I have said many times I do not understand FFP or PSR and I have also given my opinion that both terms are generally weaponised. Every single time I’ve asked a poster to explain them both to me I get zero information.

I am well aware of the term “amortisation” and what it it means but as I don’t know if it’s application at a football club applies to all players (ladies, juniors included) all staff, general capex, salaries, bonuses and transfer fees.

I would humbly suggest that instead of expressing concern about FFP or PSR posters just ask a question or if they have a “factual” comment to make on the subject they express them. Any answers on the subject or factual comment would be helpful to me and I’m sure lots of other posters.

Apparently I have a habit as coming across as “passive aggressive. ” That would never be my intention and I obviously apologise for any unintentional offence caused to any poster.

16 Mar 2024 20:50:30
Your personal understanding of FFP, PSR or amortisation on the broader scale is slightly redundant in terms of what we are currently talking about though Tom?

Firstly just because your understanding of them isn’t at the required level, does not mean that the rest of us should not be able to comment or express concerns on the matter.

Secondly, if anyone here does understand FFP et al, they are under absolutely no obligation whatsoever to divulge that information to either you, myself or anyone else that has questions on the matter. That however does not mean that their contributions to the page should become mute. However if you don’t agree with it by all means share your side. But don’t constantly suggest that others shouldn’t talk about financial or other matters just because you have no interest in them.

I tend to find myself agreeing with a lot you say Tom, however the constant disregard of others concern or questions/ information regarding FFP et al is, simply put, infuriating at times. Anyway, i’m not going to carry on with this, I just hoped to explain to you how it looks from another perspective. I hope you’re well and sending you all the best.

16 Mar 2024 21:41:32
Cech, of course my understanding or lack of understanding FFP is redundant hence the reason I ask for clarification on how accurate the comments are on the subject. As far as I’m concerned that is one of the selling points of the site.

Surely posting we are are likely to be in breach of any rules needs some explanation.

You and others may well find my “constant disregard” of other people’s concerns about FFP or PSR “infuriating” but I can see no problem in asking the reasons for a such concerns. I find it equally infuriating when fans use the term without any supporting argument.

At some stage it may well happen that we are in breach of some rule or other and if that is the case we will deserve to be punished.

I fully understand fans having concerns about our club’s finances. That’s fine as far as I’m concerned but surely I’m allowed to ask the question why those concerns exist or express my ambivalence.

My health isn’t to bad at the moment thanks Cech. I go back into hospital mid April but hopefully just for an MOT. Stay safe mate.

06 Mar 2024 21:04:30
Ed002 is it true we are looking to bring Nico Williams in the summer? And could that mean sterling could go? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Nico Williams (LW/RW) Young Basque winger and brother to Inaki who has eased himself in to the first team over the last two seasons. Terse response from the Spanish U21 set up (along the lines of "he does not score many goals for an attacker") when told he was changing his allegiance to Ghana, like his brother - and that led to him changing back to Spain. There was plenty of interest in him so a contract extension and buy out clause were awarded to the player at the start of 2022 and again in December, pricing him out of a move to Barcelona at €50M plus. The Aston Villa coach wishes to be reunited and they will push for a deal in the summer but expect him to stay for a year or two more after signing a new contract. Looked at by numerous Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal as well as Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It is unrelated to RS.}

Apparently we had a club official at the benfica / sporting game, sporting won, gyokeres with a brilliant no. 9 goal. They're saying we were there to watch Amorim gyorkeres diomande, any truth?

03 Mar 2024 00:40:03
No aparantly we were thrre to see the big eagle and sign there under 12s.

03 Mar 2024 09:01:41
Sorry Gianfranco

There is no way we are going to change and go for more experienced players at 12 level.

01 Mar 2024 13:00:19
Ed002 is it true we are interested in summerville.

{Ed002's Note - Crysencio Summerville (RW/LW) Leeds have no interest in selling but his agent is looking for a step up and speaking with clubs about him. Agent is close to Aston Villa and the City Football Group. Any move will likely depend on promotion being gained or not. Leeds will look for a new contract.}
