Hey Ed001,

Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere but would You know if Chelsea will be in for a Striker in January. I appreciate Jan is a particularly difficult time to aquire talent but I think We will be playing with the handbrake on if We don't bring someone in.

Looking forward to Your reply Mate and Thanks in advance

Blue_Nose

{Ed001's Note - Sarri would certainly like to bring someone in, he is not happy with either option available to him and is not willing to place his faith in a youngster.}

1.) 03 Dec 2018 04:04:46
Not even Tammy?
I somehow think that Tammy is our best striker.
And this is coming from someone who is not even as pro-youth as most other Chelsea fans.

{Ed001's Note - he is out on loan and Sarri is not happy with either Giroud or Morata as options, so needs to bring in replacements for them. Abraham's best hope is as the 3rd choice for next season.}

2.) 03 Dec 2018 04:49:59
Giroud is very limited and morata can’t score in an empty net. A striker is the absolute priority.

Though Abraham’s having a good season from what’s i at, he’s not an improvement on MORATa or giroud.

I feel like we missed a trick not signing Aubemeyang.

3.) 03 Dec 2018 16:21:09
Completely agree we missed out by not signing Aubameyang, something I and others) had written hoping would happen quite a long time before his move to AFC when Costa on way out. He was then apparently offered to us, and we didn't take him. He seemed so obviously what we needed, hugely better proven track record of scoring than Morata. Of course there were rumours of Aubameyang having a 'difficult personality' but many confident strikers do - eg Costa - have something of an attitude. It's often part of ego/ self-belief required in the job. The problem with Morata is that he doesn't seem to have enough of this, nor quite the physical strength needed for EPL, though he has displayed plenty of skill at times, and it all looked very promising to begin with.

4.) 03 Dec 2018 16:38:40
Thank for the reply Ed001, much appreciated.

Would You know if the Club are on board with Sarri's desire to bring another forward in and if so would this likely mean one going out in some capacity?

Also would You know of any potential targets. I've read rumours linking Us with Immobile but can't see Us concluding that if true and definately not in Jan.

Thanks again for the reply and I look forward to hearing any more info You might have lol.

KTBFFH!

{Ed001's Note - I don't have the contacts within the club Ed002 has, so I have no idea for sure what the club are thinking. I do know there has been a number of forwards scouted, according to people who should know. The problem is that this is due to scouts being at games and there is no guarantee that they are scouting the player it is believed they are scouting. Or that they actually recommend the player looked at. Lazio have been watched and the assumption is it is him. Icardi seems to be under the impression he is a target as well. So it can only be inferred from those two beliefs that the club are targeting a striker. However it is not concrete I am afraid.}

5.) 03 Dec 2018 18:57:05
By Lazio, you mean Immobile, Ed?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, sorry, I should have made that clearer.}

6.) 03 Dec 2018 23:04:28
Maybe we should go back in for Crouch as a big man? We were linked last year, might be another option.

7.) 04 Dec 2018 00:19:39
Thanks again Ed001. Top Man.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

14 Jul 2018 13:11:44
Hey Ed001,

Do You know if any of the media speculation concerning Jorginho really wanting Man City has any truth to it.

I can't see a situation where a player is forced into joining a side He doesn't wish to so it all sounds like saving face from Man City to Me.

If however there is any truth to this, could We see an embarressing Mikel Obi situation from when it appeared Man. Utd had secured His services only for Him to wind up at Chelsea?

Thanks in advance.

Blue_Nose

{Ed001's Note - he does favour a move to City, but it is not a case of being forced to go elsewhere. He loves working with Sarri.}

1.) 14 Jul 2018 13:51:05
Cheers Ed001,

Thank for the clarification Mate.

Appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, I don't know if he would have favoured Citeh had Sarri been in place initially. When he was instructing his reps about the move he wanted, Sarri was still Napoli manager.}

I don't know how legitimate any of this really is and if I had read this from another Member I would have serious doubts about it's validity, so please take with a liberal pinch of salt.

I have been told by someone who works in the sports law field that Roman is looking for either investment or a buyer for Chelsea but dosn't want to leave the Club to just anyone / consortium.

There has been varying degrees of interest but only one has been deemed in the best interests of the Club and that is supposedly from Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma.

If any posters in the know or the Ed's can shed any light on this either way I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

29 Apr 2018 18:35:19
Can any of the Ed's please confirm one way or the other if Luis Enrique will be offered the Chelsea Job at the Seasons end.

I'm sick of the Club making short term appointments and Enrique will be just that plus do a lot of damage along the way. I don't want to keep My ST if He's coming in as it's too costly.

Some info would be greatly appreciated.

Blue_Nose

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware no decision has yet been made as to what will happen then.}

1.) 29 Apr 2018 20:55:51
You would give up a Season Ticket on the back of a managerial appointment? Beggars belief mate. The waiting list is long and I'm sure a lot of fans would love to take it off you.

2.) 29 Apr 2018 23:53:21
Hey G8,

To be honest I've been having a terrible few days and I saw some articles linking Us strongly with Enrique and I just lost My sh*t.

I know how hard it is to get a ST and how many folks would give their right nutsack to get one but they are not cheap and I just felt really disillusioned with the thought of Luis Enrique taking charge.

The truth is I would prob never give up My ST lightly and it was just an over reaction but I hope and pray Enrique doesn't wind up at the Bridge.

3.) 29 Apr 2018 21:12:33
Cheers Mate, I appreciate You getting back so quickly.

I'm just really not feeling Enrique getting the role lol.

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate, I can understand that but I am not sure you have the players to make any long term appointment work anyway. The group above him are the important factor to maintain stability.}

4.) 30 Apr 2018 07:30:51
No worries Blue-nose, we all get frustrated at times. I actually have a feeling he is off to Arsenal as their new manager anyway.

5.) 30 Apr 2018 11:33:48
No way would Arsenal be stupid enough to appoint Enrique as manager. The Arse will be looking for a sensible, long-term appointment - unlike us!

08 Mar 2018 20:50:37
Hey Ed001,

Do You know if there is any truth to the rumours linking Luis Campos of Lille with a move to Chelsea in a Sporting Director role.

I remember reading We were linked with Him after Michael Emanalo left and the rumours seem to have resurfaced in some papers in the last day or so.

If there is any tuth to it, could You shed any light on His qualities for the role other than what I've already read and could there be any relation to a potential move for Leonardo Jardim as Head Coach in the Summer.

Thank You in advance.

Blue_Nose

{Ed001's Note - I don't know if you are still interested in him sorry. I know he was targeted when Emenalo left. All I know of him is that he is a scout, or rather was, who was highly regarded in terms of spotting young talent. He is given a lot of the credit for Monaco's recruitment in recent years, but it is difficult to be sure how much was actually down to him.}

1.) 09 Mar 2018 11:59:46
Thanks Ed, much appreciated.

Yeah pretty much what I had read and heard Myself regarding His previous role particularly at Monaco.

I think it's essential to have Football People as a sounding board between Coach and the Board but whether He's the rite person who knows.

Thanks again Mate.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know either, he is highly regarded as a scout.}

12 May 2023 12:34:18
Can anybody explain how the role of Chelsea Head Coach differs now to what it did most recently under the previous ownership?

I was curious when Graham Potter was supposedly put onto a very lucrative salary which I can only assume was considerably greater than the salary He left behind at Brighton. The only conclusion I could come to was the role was going to be very different to both what went before at Chelsea and what He was undertaking with Brighton.

I therefore wonder (assuming there is any truth to these musings ofcourse) if it's having a baring on appointing the next Head Coach. Could it be perhaps that it doesn't suit all the candidates the decision makers are interested in.

I seem to remember it being mentioned that under the previous regime that the Head Coach was more just that whereas the new Ownership Group may be looking at more of a General Manager role.

Again just My random thoughts on things but if anybody has any views or info then I would love to hear it.

If you go from being the manager of your local primark to being the manager of Gucci in London you’d expect a big pay rise too. Think that’s pretty much the explanation imo.

There’s generally only head coach or manager. HC basically just trains the team and does selection etc with some input into transfers alongside scouts and DOF. Manager’s generally don’t have a DOF above them? And so are more hands on with transfers. I may be wrong though but that was my understanding.

17 Jan 2022 13:36:28
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I have a question for either the Ed's or Members.

By My reckoning We currently have a Senior Squad (aged 21 or over) of 25 players (the max allowance under current Premier League Regs) . With this in Mind if We were to bring in a player (loan or buy), in order to register them We would have to move somebody on or they would need to be under the age of 21 after 1st Jan this year. Is this correct or are My observations off?

I ask because I see and hear lots of commentators, pundits and fans talking like why haven't We signed a few players like it's a straight forward thing to do without any context to the situation.

Also is it possible to unregister a player who You plan to keep hold of moving forward, for example an injured player who is likely going to be out beyond the seasons end to make space for a short term loan?

I hope this makes some semblance of sense and Thanks in advance for any replies.

KTBFFH!

Blue_Nose

{Ed001's Note - well you would have to leave someone out of the squad, which is difficult and can lead to issues with the PFA. It is not an ideal situation to be in and can cause a lot of disruption to have a player around who cannot play for the team due to registration issues.}

1.) 17 Jan 2022 13:49:39
Thank You for the swift reply Ed001.

This is what I assumed when I looked at the Squad. It's not an easy situation to resolve without actually moving players on which is easier than said than done, even more so in Jan.

Thanks again Ed, appreciated.

Hey Ed002,

Firstly I want to say Thanks for all of Your input. It goes without saying but this site is so much better with You involved.

I noticed on the European Rumours pages You were asked about Hakim Ziyech and mentioned that a number of Clubs had cooled their interest in part due to baggage.
Is this something Chelsea's Hierarchy are aware of and how big a concern is it?

Thank You in advance.

{Ed002's Note - A third party (an ex player) has helped Chelsea and has been assured it is no longer a problem.}

My guess is melchiot.

03 Jan 2020 13:26:00
I don't know why but I am loving the meltdowns and in fighting going on across the online Chelsea Forums atm. It's hilarious.

Fans whinging about the board just 3 days after the window opened and crying over the fact it's unlikely We're not going to be spending upwards of half a billion smackers on the likes of Chilwell, Havertz, Sancho and Wener in January. Are these people for real lol.

The reality is We are one of a handful of Clubs that can finish Top 4 but it's by no means a shoe in but the same can be said of the others to. I think a couple of decent signings would improve Our chances but definitely not guarantee it so why buy for the sake of it and potentially eat into the Summer Budget and block the pathway for better signings in a few months time.

Signings are not just like buying clothes of the peg and January I can imagine is an even more challenging time to make signings.

Some folks really do need to get off the video games and look at things from the realm of reality from time to time lol.

It's Football at the end of the day and for the most part way outta the Fans control. Really doesn't make sense stressing when You think about it lol.

Anyway Happy New Year Folks let's hope 2020 is a good one.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of the points made. It just sounds like some Supporters think that a change of coach means We just click into gear and start winning games.

What if We bring in another coach and We finish 5th. Do We then sack them and bring in somebody else. If the answer to that is no, then why exactly are We replacing the existing Coach?

A few weeks ago, Ole was a dead man walking now His team are top of the league. Arteta was one game away from the boot, He had to go now they're being spoken about as top 4 contenders.

Whether We care to admit it or not this is far from a regular season and every Club are suffering as a consequence. I would argue it's tougher for Us with so many first team additions.

Don't get Me wrong I'm not saying Frank should have an indefinite stay but unless We're bringing in the absolute elite of Coaches I honestly do not see the point.

Were We really a genuine title contender this season, I personally didn't think so.

Anyway I respect all opinions and know We all want Chelsea to be successful. Hopefully 2021 will see an upturn in form and results and give Us all something to smile about.

No offence to anyone intended but why would anyone be cheerleading for Tuchel or Ten Haag.

Will they do any better than Frank, possibly. Will they take Us back to Winning Titles and Champions League's, absolutely not.

If it's just improvement We're looking for what's the point of changing Coach to replace them again in a few months?

In a couple of weeks it'll be some other coach who needs replacing, stirred up by the media and lapped up by the impatient masses.

Well said about Zizou, His record in Europe is phenomenal but there's a lot more to it than tactical nous lol.

I don't think it matters who the head coach is, this squad is really very average and how Conte oversaw a league title with it I will never know.

We are a Top 6 Club not a Top 4 and certainly not a Title Challenger. It's depressing but true so just accept it, it's much easier to deal with.

Sarri is not helping His situation but this is Our level at the moment and no Zizou, Ancelotti or anybody is going to change that without Quality Investment, which I assume is not forthcoming.

All I feel is apathy towards Chelsea at the moment and that is so much worse than anger.

Respectfully Ed014.

What does ruining a Football Club and it's employees do for Conflict in Ukraine, Putin, etc.

It's about as effective as posting Ukrainian Flags on social media to show solidarity.

So other than a deep seated envy of Chelsea (which I understand I hate Spurs and Pool pathologically Myself for no good reason) and a need to feel good about Yourself with constant pointless virtue signalling. What point are You trying to make?

I mean no offense, You do a great job but You don't half talk some crap.

But if You can be bothered to kindly explain what all these riddles are You keep waffling on about I would be fascinated to hear.

How simple do you want me to make it instead of bringing all this club rivalry shite into it.

I couldn’t care less that you have been financially doped by RA or that City are by their owners.

I care about what is going on in the world and this idiot pales every other poxy despot around the world into insignificance because in case you missed it he has a shit load of nuclear weapons and would seem more than happy to use them.

Would be really surprised if Lukaku was to rack up at Spurs.

He might win a League or FA Cup with a favourable draw but He'll never win one of the Big 2. It's literally impossible for Spurs to win Major Silverware.

If Romelu goes there through blind loyalty to Conte I would think He needs to give His head a wobble.

I do grasp the situation entirely Thank You very much.

If as You say You RTFP You would understand exactly what I am saying.

Everybody knows what FFP is supposed to do and why it was brought in.

What has the G14 being (disbanded) got to do with anything. Because Power structures like to give away power don't they.

I personally don't like FFP in it's current form. It appears to have been forced into being by the G14 Clubs to prevent significsnt outside investment into Clubs outside this group. To protect the Status Quo so to speak.

However I don't think a small group of Petro State backed Clubs should be able to spend whatever they wish and completely skew the market either.

It seems crazy that FFP operates under the lie that it's designed to prevent Clubs from overspending and ending the way of a Portsmouth but one of the punishments is too impose fines. You couldn't make it up.

I worry that this verdict will be the catalyst for a potential European Super League further down the road with the G14 Clubs closing the door on so called smaller Clubs and Clubs they seem undesirable.

KTBFFH!

{Ed002's Note - This is all nonsense. G14 was disbanded in 2008. Clearly another with no grasp of the situation.}
