Nothing solid, but I've been told over the last 24 hours that Karim Benzema to Chelsea could become a thing this window. Reports of interest, and even talks already.

What next if this happens.

I’d much rather go for Cavani or Higuain.

I did wish him well based on news reports, not on any inside info.

I wouldn’t mind him staying for the season.

With Benzema there'll be more opportunities for your wing attackers to score, he surely is one of the best point men out there that does know how to bring other attackers that are paired with him into play (which Morata doesn't obviously know how to do), though he doesn't score so much. If he's coming in to replace Giroud (not Morata) I will very much like it.

Tom B I beg to disagree on sticking with Morata. I once stated here during the last summer transfer window that Chelsea should sell Morata before he loses significant value and many of us said give him more chance. The guy isn't good enough for what we look for in a striker. He's fragile both physically and mentally. Misses so many chances.
I support Chelsea which means supporting anybody and anything that promotes the club. The earlier we sell the better for us. Get in an effective striker and you will realize that it's missing piece in jigsaw.

Freeborn. I except that Morata’s fragility is frustrating and I know there are many of us Morata fans out there but my theory is as follows:-

(a) He is NOT a target man and therefore will always struggle in our current system.

(b) Morata’s (and Giroud) strength is in the air and we haven’t (Including Hazard) got a single player other than Odoi who can cross a ball.

I would like to see him in a team with full backs and wide men being able to cross a ball.

If he doesn’t score 25 goals a season with that ammunition I will give up on him.

Contradicting yourself there Tom. He’s not a hold up player but good in the air? Really? Is that why he goes down after the faintest of touches? Too mentally fragile. Torres like in confidence. Need to get rid of this window and get someone else in.

I don’t think there’s a contradiction Adam.

I’m saying I do NOT think he is a hold up player.

Players generally don’t hold the ball up with their head.

Also, I’m excepting his fragility can be frustrating.

I want a better striker brought in but i completely understand were TomB is coming from. I said in a previous post that a part of his inability to score is due to the teams style and the lack of chances he craves on being created. Our wingers can't cross apart from Odoi, the 2 fullbacks we have that can cross don't start and he's being forced to play a way in which he can't. He's no where near as bad as what people make him out to be, but he's still not good enough for us though which is why it's still best to move him on imo. I do fear though that until our wingers learn to cross more as well as the fullbacks getting further forward to help out with the crosses that the next striker may struggle with scoring a high amount of goals as well. This is Why i felt like a player like Fekir could be more beneficial for us atm but Sarri's preference is different.

i agree London, I want to judge him when we can provide the ammunition that’s all.

The strange thing is our other strikers strength is in the air as well. So neither get the crosses they might thrive on.

I guess Girouds hold up play is better than Morata’s.

I was very pleased when we signed Morata having seen him a great deal in Spain and Italy where he was a running at or running through player with a decent shot and excellent with his head. We do not play to his strengths and it is clear his frustration comes out looking to the referee for a foul by falling over at the slightest touch. Running through to a Fabregas in his prime would have been perfect but he was not a regular and when he did play Morata's lack of confidence causes him to snatch at his shots. Likewise when he runs at defences he invariably passes to his right and runs into space but we just cannot cross a ball with Azi being the only one who seems to be able to find him. The guy needs a hat trick to get some confidence but if he doesn't get any we will have to let him go as we need goals badly.

Out of the 22 goals he’s scored for Chelsea, 10 have been headers, 12 with his feet.

He’s not getting the service because he’s not getting into the positions. Confidence thing perhaps? He seems to always be out the box when we get to the bye-line.

I think he’ll always be a split player. A very Torres like player. Thrives on confidence like every striker, just think he’s shot here and probably needs a slower league to play in, as the defenders here don’t give him the time and space to turn and run at them. Doesn’t seem to have the pace neither if he plays on the shoulder of the last defender. How many times has he been offside this season? If you can’t link up with players like, Jorginho, Fabregas, Hazard on a regular basis then maybe it’s the striker whose at fault. Giroud links up with hazard very well, just doesn’t score enough!

I’m not a fan of stats but my guess is that the ratio of foot and headed goals compared to other CFs shows how strong he is with is head but I stand to be corrected.

He will probably leave soon anyway, so it’s all academic but if he goes, I think it’s another one we will look back and regret.

Well well well. Has Hudson-Odoi been that spark we’ve been missing on the wing? It wasn’t the most quality performance like some are suggesting but it shows he’s raw and brings a lot to the table. He takes players on and can cross an absolute peach.

It’s not the end of Willian and Pedro at Chelsea, they still need games are good options but he needs to be included in the 18. I don’t know how many times this season we’ve been at a deadlock and we’ve needed a spark and we’ve had three central midfielders on the bench.

Keep the momentum going for him, either start him next game or bring him on as a sub. We cannot mess this up and lose him.

Shout outs to Christensen, Zappa, fab and RLC, Morata also scored a couple.

Onto spurs.

What i love about him is he brings something our other wingers don't. He's very direct and loves to get the ball into the box, he's the type of winger strikers love to play with. It's no surprise he's assisted Morata 3 times. Our wingers have been very poor in providing him with chances, the whole team to a certain point. Get the ball into the box, into dangerous areas where Morata is at his best and that's what Odoi offers. Of course it seems Morata's off though and i wish him the best. Hope we can bring in someone with proven quality and mental toughness. But if we bring in a ST that Sarri likes whether it'd be a Higuain or Piatek, i really believe they'd be better of playing with a player like CHO rather than Willian or Pedro.

Standard, been positive signs all season from the boy ever since pre season, but its a different species - the league - cup matches - europa league games. He looked a little lost against Watford if I was honest. But you expect that, hopefully gets some more minutes under his belt very soon.
