Hi ed not happy with the Lucas moura deal looking like he's going united do u no why we failed to buy him 30 million doesn't seem that bad and i thought we bid higher than that why wud he pick united over the Chelsea thanks {Ed018's Note - Chelsea made an offer in January that wasn't excepted, and Chelsea weren't willing to go any higher.}

Believable4 Unbelievable8

ED018 any news on the striker front? {Ed018's Note - ive heard nothing new as of today regarding a sriker}

Agree0 Disagree0

No way would Lucas Moura get into our team ahead of Hazard, Mata, Oscar and Ramires. Good player with great potential but we have enough attacking mids

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, do you know the size of the offer we made in January? Thanks

Ash {Ed002's Note - The amount is not a matter I care to discuss.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure but chelsea have a tactic of offering really low initially and eventually raising their bids to suit clubs. I think we went so low that it scared them off and they thought there was no point in negotiating.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt that Chelsea purposely low-ball in negotiations, being stubborn and offering way below market value shows that you either have a lack of understanding of market values or that you truly value the player in question so little. And whilst obviously everyone would rather pay 1M for a player instead of 10M, low-balling won't endear either the club or the player to you.

Edin Dzeko is available by manchester city for 25m GBP. He is still 26 yrs old and can give us 4-5 seasons with best performances.
He is proven goal scorer in top leagues.
Hulk is com ing in for 40m and if we get dzeko for 25m ....i guess we should go for him.
If F. Torres fails again i guess which wont b d case Dzeko will be far better back up than sturridge and or lukaku.

just put ur thoughts guys
as i am for it....

Believable11 Unbelievable11

Simply... No thank you.. Not what we need and he showed nothing at city that would warrant us spend 25 big ones. Surely?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hulk is coming in? That's news to me...

Also, Dzeko is a no.

L'equipe reporting the Azpilcueta deal is almost done. Sky Italia reporting that we have now full ownership over Flumineses Wallace. This is unconfirmed and Sky Italia are way off the mark alot of times, but if true i expect the kid will probably be loaneed to that Dutch club Vitesse

Hello ED. Is there a chance of another central midfielder coming in? After watching the preseason, it's absolutely clear we need a midfield distributor in the pivot. Sahin would be option, but I feel he's physically not well suited to the EPL. Modric maybe? ;) {Ed002's Note - Not right now - the remaining targets are clear. If Benayoun leaves I doubt there will be an addition - but if he and Meireles leave that might be reconsidered.}

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Modric.... really? Overpriced, overhyped, not worth the effort, and the Chelsea staff know it.

Agree0 Disagree2

We have oscar who have ten times the skill if modric at age 20...

Can you still see neymar playing in brazil come the end of the summer ? seems to be a lot of talk about him moving on but it seems this way every summer . {Ed002's Note - Yes. There is absolutely nothing to imply otherwise.}

ED002 Marseille's owner has now said we are in advanced talks over azipilicueta what is the situation with him now? {Ed002's Note - I explained the situation last week with regards to two Marseille employees being in London and I do not know of anything MLD has said on the matter today. For me I expect it to go through.}

It looks like we are still perusing Schurrle, and i do not see the appeal.

Shurrle is not a great player, he is still fairly young (21) so can develop, but his goal scoring record is not great (9 in 40 games), he looks a bit selfish, whenever there is a chance to shoot from range he grabs it.
I am not sure about assists last season i can't find those records, but previous years have not been great (3 assists in 34 games)

I do not see why we are so desperate to bring him in, and i cannot see why Chelsea fans seem so desperate. If there is something i am missing please let me know, because imo he is a fairly average player with a huge price.

Other than being pacy, what is the appeal?

Believable11 Unbelievable4

He is versatile and quite powerful, he is also still young like you said. he looks like he could develop into a good player

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree0

Schurlie,Moses,hulk
Anyone of those players would be an asset to the club
But for me they are better players as wingers
Time to go for an out and out striker.
How come the fans can see this but the management cant

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with the original post. No better than Moses.

Agree1 Disagree0

Management do see this, hence an active pursuit of a striker e.g. Cavani, Falcao dependent on availability etc etc. Would you rather we just blew x million on a striker for the sake of it, or do it properly and secure the best overall package? I know which I would prefer. I also think the pursuit of Schurrle is about his promise - scouts have been looking at him a long time an there's obviously something there.

LJ

Agree0 Disagree0

You have it to a t there lj

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but all the players mentioned, cavani, hulk, schurrle and mosee, can all be and probably will be deployed in the RW position. so not necessary signing them as an out and out striker unless torres doesnt deliver again then could be switched to playing as the striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Schurle is a very good player.
Normally he plays as winger and even can play as alone striker as he has done it in past.
His german national record is far better than his club record.
U 19 : matches 10 & goals 11
U 21 : matches 5 & goals 5
and senior german national side: matches 16 & 7 and take into consideration that he did not start every match some of them are from bench.
Beofre last season he played for Mainz in bundesliga and there he scored 20 goals in 66 matches that time he was 19-20 yrs old and i guess its very good record for such youngster.
He is very good in driblling the ball he has got very good pace and really a great attacking force.
Yes you are correct he some times like to have a shot from long distance but you should also mention that those are powerful shots even not on target every time.
But i guess the better players surroundings around him will take out best from him only as it same happens for him on international duty.

RDM need a striker possibly cavani coz he's qood at counter attackinq unlike torres and i don't even know why RDM still trust him wen MATA/LAMPARD and the rest of the team tried to help him qain his form? so want will chanqe now. once qood always qood

Believable7 Unbelievable8

Torres and drogba scored the same goals, Torres had more assists, u lot are so biased to certain players. And btw how did lampard help in anyway? Their was only mata last year. So don't BS! Tit BLUEBOY1

Agree3 Disagree0

Drogba scored13 goals (scoring in the champions league final and semi final, FA cup semi final and final as well as the goals against Napoli and Valencia) and Torres got 11 goals, 7 of which came in 3 games (against QPR, Genk and Leicester). I am not biased towards Drogba in any way, and while you can argue he is a big game player that only turned up for important matches, without that we would have won sweet FA last year. While I concede there was a problem with creativity in the attacking third last season (which the club have tried to address this summer), Torres is also a problem. He works hard for the team, but so does Jon Walters at Stoke. We invested a huge amount in Torres, and that was done in the hope he would be scoring goals, not so he can square balls to the edge of the box for others. He doesn’t look the same player, despite a few fleeting glimpses and I think that most of the issues are his own. I will obviously support him and the team, but personally I am not confident he is going to turn things around while playing for Chelsea.

How did Frank help out in anyway? 16 goals and 10 assists. Maybe people should stop being so biased towards Torres.

Blue25

Agree2 Disagree1

The problem is that Chelsea don't play the type of football that Torres thrives under

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said ive been slated for saying that recently torres doesnt fit in with our style and theres no changing that
Carefree

Agree0 Disagree1

That's why the likes of hazard,Marin and Oscar have been brought in so has I said before we can't judge Torres until this season but the ball needs to move from the back much quicker something that was missing at Brighton
Drebs

Agree0 Disagree0

For £50m I think a player should be able to play any style.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok a few goals different. But more assists. We was playing the drogba way. And come on lampards footballing is terrible recently.

Agree0 Disagree1

Think lampard scored 4 and two assists against Bolton last year and we saw how good they are. Along with a few penalties. And assists against Norwich. He was that great to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that a 50m striker should be adaptable. 'We don't play the kind of football that he thrives under' is no excuse for somebody world class playing in te best league in the world for the European Champions.

Why o why are we looking at schurrle! We got enuf attacking midfielders! If we gonna make another big signing why not an out an out striker,someone like huntlaar,llorente,Cavani or higuien.

Would love to see huntlaar at the club. Scored more domestic goals than Rvp I do believe last season (might be wrong) and German league is a good standard think he someone that can be our 20+ goals a season hitman

Pinky

Believable10 Unbelievable11

U said we dont need a new striker...

Agree0 Disagree0

Schurlie is a great player and I would love him at the club but he is not a out and out striker
The club needs to get a top striker and a right back fast, also think we need a stronger D/M
Still not over being humiliated by Brighton
Drebs

Agree0 Disagree0

Schurrle is primarily a striker, he has been played on the wing/AM because of injury and lack of squad depth, which is also why Bayern Leverkeusen are reluctant to sell him. We'd all like someone like Huntelaar mate but if Schalke aren't going to sell him/doesn't request a transfer he won't be leaving. The strikers Chelsea are linked with the most are Schurrle, Cavani, Falcao, Neymar, Doumbia, Markovic and Rondon so if you pick someone not on the list, we are unlikely to be involved in any transfer between the player.
CFCFOREVER!

Agree0 Disagree0

Huntelaar has a £17m buy out clause in his contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shurrle is not a great player! He is still young, his goal scoring record is not great (9 in 40 games), he looks a bit selfish, whenever there is a chance to shoot from range he grabs it.

Ed, I know it is not possible to say for certain, but do you think it is likely or unlikely that Sturridge will leave this summer? Thanks a bunch. James13. {Ed002's Note - I don't know. If an acceptable offer is made and the kid is interested I doubt the club would stand in his way.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

I read somewhere that chelsea would offer sturridge a new contract this year to maximise the price they get for him next year if they then decide to sell any truth in that ed? {Ed002's Note - That is not how the club works.}
