So Conte has prepared a preseason and also sent an email to the players letting them know he’s still the boss and that training begins next week.

Good on him. The club is a shambles right now. All the divas can leave I don’t care, it’s so hard to be positive right now.

If that is the case then all credit to someone who is still acting like a professional should. Whatever the final outcome Conte did well for us under what was clearly difficult circumstances after he asked for a transfer support and did not appear to get what he wanted and now he 'might' see a successor get given exactly that.

From what I’ve gathered Conte did get quite a few of his targets last year. He wanted Morata and Zappacosta. Granted he’d have rather kept Matic but Matic wanted to leave. The club tried hard to get Alex Sandro and Kouliaby. Drinkwater was added due to his previous partnership with Kante and his HG status. Whilst I understand all of our disappointment in last years transfer window, the club aren’t the complete mess some seem to paint it as.

This summer hasn’t been great but we all expected that Conte would be in demand and would jump straight into another job. The fact that no-one has offered him one or that he’s turned them down has thrown a spanner in the works. Are we slightly behind the ball now in regards to transfers? Maybe but I’m also not going to slate the club when there’s quite a lot to deal with this summer and the window has barely opened.

I was never convinced that Conte had a say in any player we bought other than he had positions that needed strengthening. Highly unlikely Drinkwater or Barkley and possibly Giroud were on his radar although the latter can prove useful. Given the rumours surrounding his departure he is unlikely to show much interest in any approaches as it will jeopodise any severance him and the team are due; I doubt he will have 'any' trouble finding another top role when this scenario is played out.

One of the Ed’s mentioned that it was Conte that wanted Morata. I said that it wasn’t likely he chose Drinkwater but then again imo Drinkwater and Barkley were both bought to fill squad places as Conte wanted players but we were restricted in regards to our Home grown quota. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I see it.
