Conte or The Board. Debate. Conte wins league against the odds, Repairs the damage done by Jose, Turns things around with a back 3, brings passion and some very good football. Gets out classed by Wenger in Cup Final, Moans about everything, falls out with Costa, Hazard, Luiz etal.

The board. (Roman) . takes us from 1 title in our history and the odd cup into multiple league and cup winners and Londons only Champions League winners, fantastic youth set up and about to fund a 1 billion pound stadium, serial winner and Chelsea fan but. for his own reasons. does like a change of manager, has not backed Conte, did not back Jose, chooses a transfer panel over manager control on transfers. Should be an interesting debate.

I’m some what confused. When Conte joined their was a long standing formula/ process for the scouting and signing of players.
So, as much as a like Conte and I DO want him to remain (unlikely) our manager next season, I find it hard to work out why he continues to have such an angry tone as he was very aware of how Chelsea work when it comes to signings.
If he stays, it would obviously require him extending his contract if we want to avoid the sort of annual media frenzy that surrounds Wengers manergerial position at Arsenal.
We are very luck to have RA as our owner. He has brought continued success to our club and we stand on the threshold of a spectacular new stadium, with the stadium being built in our ancestral home.
I will continue to question the clubs Business Plan but my concerns are only about the never ending appointments of so many managers!

Both to blame, conte hasn’t had players he wanted and from day one has said this is what would happen, if you don’t improve squad then u fall behind the rest unfortunately, on other hand his tactics have been predictable, he hasn’t changed things when we’re losing, was leaving strikers on bench and playing hazard as false 9 when clearly wasn’t working, publically moaned about his employees and set games up not to lose rather than to win and started game with 6-7 defensive minded players.

Afternoon G8 nice to see you back in business. The Board will will win every time versus the manager. The question we cannot answer is what did Conte ask for when appointed? He is very thorough I am sure and is it a case of the Board reneging on what they said, certainly they spent a great deal of money pre and mid season but as I said, on four players injured or coming back from injuries, so is there someone looking for bargains? Jose did cause a fuss at the end mainly at press conferences where he was getting more bizarre by the week but it was the same problem as Conte’s, transfers, that set him of; they cannot both be wrong as they are excellent managers Re: the falling out with Costa and Co; was it him falling out with them or them trying to dictate to him? Rumours suggest he texted Costa to say he was surplus to requirements but that is the players comment! We all love RA because of the belated success he brought but our Achilles Heel after 14 trophies, as TomB alludes to is, it has cost us 11 managers which is disruptive to the club, costly and unsettles many players who join a club because of the manager. With the new stadium looming and the club playing away from the Bridge all parties need to get a settled team as few, if any clubs that have had to move, win anything. The debate would be a no contest BUT all parties need to think very hard about the next two to three years. For continuity I would like Conte to stay, be given some ‘top-up’ money in addition to what he gets for clearing out those not good enough and more importantly, those that don’t want to be there.

In my opinion, a brilliant post C1955.

Thankyou C1955. I think one of the EDS recently mentioned that Chelsea and indeed, a lot of European clubs appoint a head coach to work with the players they are given. Conte would of known that from the start and so will any new manager coming in so I don't see that as the issue. Days of Sir Alex and Wenger long term appointments are now coming to an end as well, I think most managers will last no more than 3 or 4 seasons in the job either because they want a change, likes of Pep etc or players get a bit tired of the same routine, possibly this is happening with Conte? Chelsea will not change the structure of buying players and appointing a head coach to manage them, that is 100% for sure. The BIG question is at what level does Roman want to invest? He is capable of surprising everyone and buying a superstar signing as we have seen in the past following a period of buying dross. I guess only time will tell.

Funny Conte wasn't moaning last year in January when we were winning
Now it's the players and boards fault this year
And yes we lost Costa and matic but after arsenal game he changed formation to suit this year he has changed nothing and stagnated together with players
What annoys me is he seems to take no responsibility for this year.
