Sarr is reportedly going on a two season long loan to Bayer Leverkusen. So we have just signed him to use/ sell him two years later. Vintage Marina at her best.

Have you considered his age and the liklihood of him doing well there?

Yes, that is exactly why I said "use him in two years".

I said I thought this may be the case last week.

Quite sure he comes back to play in the first team as he (Sarr) has potential but he really has to get a lot of game time (on loan) to cut it at Chelsea.

From what I've seen from our defence, I believe that Sarr should be in our 1st team squad this season.

Naturally left-footed CB - exactly what we need.

Let's be honest, Sarr couldn't do any worse than Rude or Cristensen!

I suppose one argument against including him in the squad this season is that we will already have quite a few key players new to the PL.
Also he wasnt a fixture at CB last season and played LB quite often so probably better he gets a season at CB in the Bundesliga and then assess his performance levels.

Sarr will end up playing for Chelsea. His got serious potential.

Havertz agreed. €80m plus €20m add ons, today is a good day.

A keeper to replace or challenge Kepa and I think we're good to go.

Whilst I have every faith that Havertz will be a success for us, I started thinking about all of our record signings in recent history and how they’ve gone. Shevchenko then Torres, then Morata and then Kepa. None overwhelming successes (though Torres deserves more respect than he sometimes gets) . Just a thought.

exactly he could be the club record that goes on to be a star.

Not usually one for negative thoughts and as I said I do genuinely believe he’s going to be great. The signing feels a bit like when we got Hazard, a player who’s so highly rated that he’s tipped for future Ballon d’or and one the any team in the world would like to sign. As I said, just a thought.

It is quite interesting if read an update (from Ed002 on the West Ham page about their potential outbound and players looked at:

POTENTIAL OUTBOUND:
* Declan Rice (DM) : 'The club don't want to sell but there will be a deal out there they could accept. '

PLAYERS LOOKED AT:
* Nahitan Nandez (DM) : 'option as a Declan Rice replacement. Agent is offering him around PL clubs but could be expensive. '
* Ross Barkley (CM/ AM) : 'WHU are interested to some extent but could be priced out of a cash move. '

Just maybe Declan Rice to Chelsea could happen at some point.

I really hope so. The guy clearly would love a move to Chelsea as well. Plus he'd add leadership. I expect this transfer to happen, whether it's this summer or in future years.

Also, it's been said that Chelsea would need to sell first before buying any more players, which would make sense.
And Barkley could be of interest to West Ham, so I hope a deal involving Barkley could be worked out. It would lower the price for Declan a bit, while it would allow West Ham to get their man.

I would rather Chelsea sell Barkley and Jorginho; and bring in Declan Rice (or Denis Zakaria) and if need-be, loan out Loftus Cheek. I don’t want Chelsea to sell any of Kante or Kovacic. Ideally, I want a CDM trio of Kovacic, Kante and Declan Rice/ or Denis Zakaria for this season; that’s is if Lampard wants to go with any of 4-2-3-1 or 4–3-3 formation.

Ethan Ampadu is growing up nicely. Is he really that far behind Declan Rice in terms of development?

Where to play Declan Rice?

Not convinced that Declan Rice is a CB either. He has being playing DM for the last two seasons. That is his position imho.

Also, we have it covered with young CBs imho. Tomori being my favourite and also one of the fastest players at the club.

Billy Gilmour is also a very tenacious and talented DM.

{Ed001's Note - Ampadu is a good shout. Perhaps Rice is completely unnecessary?}

03 Sep 2020 12:57:35
We have Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Gilmour, Ampadu, Loftus-Cheek, Barkley and Mount.

Even if Jorginho and Barkley move on this window, that's six players for two or three roles. In an ideal world I'd say Rice is young enough to leave at West Ham for a season whilst we evaluate Ampadu. I think there's room for both in the squad, but at the expense of who?

I like Rice, individually he'd be a great signing. But we've got to be careful with the balance of the squad whilst making all these signings.

Hi ed001, are chelsea looking at any CB's now? Talks of upamecano move has started once again. Also which GK is being looked at?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are asking the wrong person really, I can't remember which keeper you are after. I think you are done on the defender front for this summer, but Ed002 is the one to ask with regards to Chelsea. I don't look into your moves as he has it all covered.}

03 Sep 2020 13:47:46
A lot of times I forget the Chelsea has got Ampadu. I think he has got to show great maturity this season to really cut it.

What is evident in my opinion is that we need to move Jorgi and Ross this summer. But bringing Rice in I think is one of those important signings that we need to make this summer. He adds so much to the squad in terms of defending and attacking that I would say securing him would be equal to us getting Havertz.
He could be a partner for Silva in defence and he could be a partner for Kanté (if he stays) and Kova in a 2 man defensive midfield role as well. So much versitality, you can't look past him. My prediction is that we will get him towards the end of the window, perhaps even after the first game.

If Lady Luck smiles on Chelsea in terms of injuries to players; the club brings in a good goal keeper and Declan Rice (or Denis Zakaria) ; keeps Kante and Kovacic, I can beat my chest and say Chelsea can win the league this season. Consequently, I know that would mean Barkley, Jorginho leaves; maybe Loftus Cheek/ Ampadu loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2020 22:35:35
Realistically I’d leave Rice for another season, he’d be cheaper with one year less on his contract and West Ham could potentially go down. £80m for him is way too much. I’ll obvs back him if he’s signed but can’t see it happening until Emerson, Jorginho and Barkley are all gone and even possibly have to wait for Batshuayi to go too.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - or another team could buy him?

05 Sep 2020 14:53:55
Ed0666 Like who?
Let us know wjow else is interested in Rice.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I have no idea pal but don’t be so sure only Chelsea would be interested as he’s a quality player. I’m sure his preference would be Chelsea above anyone because he has a massive bromance with Mount but soccer transfers are built on flimsy foundations and some other team could usurp you.
