Chelsea, won't pay Napoli for Sarri's release!

Club is an absolute joke. absolutely embarrassing considering what every other club is doing. We are really showing Sarri how much we want him right now! He sort of didn't extend his contract with Napoli as he wanted to see if the grass was greener and in us it was.

But this is going on too long, we need to get to the summer business and this delay ain't helping I'm sure new recruits would like to know who our manager is before they commit to us. Over a 7m release clause we are really affecting our summer plans, very smart move.

Apparently Chelsea are willing to wait and see what Sarri's lawyers do to get him out of the Napoli contract. Sooner rather later Sarri will move on, may get another job offer and we would look like absolute fools as we have practically wasted so much time chasing him, agreeing terms etc.

Very concerned with how things are going at the club, something ain't right for sure. This ain't us stomping over 7m. It's a joke.

Shak, Ed outlined on the Banter page how messy the subject of Sarri could become.
I don’t want the bloke as our manager but I don’t want his employment to turn into a legal circus, with lawyers being the only winners!

So with Sarri out of frame the names are Blanc And Avram grant according to tomorrow’s papers, the board have sat on there hands knowing conte will be leaving or at least want him out and haven’t appeared to make any arrangements, again while others are looking at targets we are starting our managerial search, average squad will now get average manager, at this rate I want conte to stay. Clubs in absolute turmoil.

MM: Now they have "Zidane lined up for Chelsea" added to the Blanc, Sarri, Conte staying and Avram Grant lined up as a stop gap charade. From Mourinho's last year we seem to have gone off the rails when we used to keep it simple. The list of players 'lined' up is getting longer and longer which means we would have an extensive 'leave' list coming plus it must be destabilising for the current players. On the other side Abramovich says he is totally committed followed elsewhere by he wants £1.2bn for the club. There is no doubt it is destabilising the supporters!

Sorry TomB, it's just frustration mate.

01 Jun 2018 10:17:45
No need to be sorry and I do understand your frustration. That’s how fans are supposed to be.
We all want to be players first then we know better than the manager and ever owner has lost the plot.
Can’t wait for the new season!

Trouble is if we pay Sarri's release clause 7 million then add contes 9million. 16 million for nothing. Its ok for everyone to moan. But if that was coming out of your bank account you wouldn't be happy. In fact if the papers reported CFC had just handed over 16 million to someone and got nothing in return you would all be going mad.
Dont get me wrong its not great i want a new manager in and players signed before world cup. But that doesn't look like its going to happen.

I don't really know why CFC is so dull this season in terms of transfer issues. many teams are ahead of us what's the reall issue guys?

Heard a rumour (not Twitter) that the stadium hold is because we are up for sale? Do you know anything.

Well may be it's for the best. Time to match ManCity's ambition with an equally ambituous owner.

Still restricted by Ffp whoever owns it, unless they have a cunning plan.

Under the ownership the first team have won every domestic trophy several times.

The first team have also won the two major European tournaments

We have won the kids cup several times along with the
kids league and European cups.

We have now got a ladies team to be proud of and that also wins trophies and this season did the double.

The club have a fantastic standing in the local community and with the work in does with youngsters around the world.

We have a tip top training facility.

The season ticket prices have gone up ONCE in all the years RA has owned the club.

RA has been brilliant for our club and if he now decides that the club must be self sufficient, then that’s fine with me.

I will never question his commitment.

Personally I feel Roman has been losing interest and this whole visa issue is the final nail in the coffin. Why would you invest your own wealth into a club where you are being questioned by our government and not allowed in the country. This explains the stadium hold and also explains why we can't compete with Man City's, Man Utd's etc. The money spent Is from what we make!

The club Is self sufficient now which is good but maybe as fans we should probably lower our expectations as this will ensure we are not left disappointed. Recently a lot of fans have been left unhappy without our transfers, even the manager himself had a pop every other day. I for one will find it hard to lower my expectations after such a high form decades or so. Being a fan in the 90's was different, you wasn't being left too dissapointed because you had Low expectations.

I think Roman is looking to sell the club.
Our BP and the latest stadium news just adds weight to my theory but it is only a theory.

I think so, officially withdraw from UK visa, got Israeli visa, pulled stadium plans as doesn’t want to invest money into uk. Been quiet on Chelsea front too, lack of interest maybe in last year or so,

No smoke without fire, something is wrong. It's being one challenge after another as regards the stadium reconstruction. Now i read he isn't happy about the UK visa issues. Please for whatever reason it may be i pray it gets resolved cos I like Roman Abrahimovich as the Chelsea owner.

I don't know how legitimate any of this really is and if I had read this from another Member I would have serious doubts about it's validity, so please take with a liberal pinch of salt.

I have been told by someone who works in the sports law field that Roman is looking for either investment or a buyer for Chelsea but dosn't want to leave the Club to just anyone / consortium.

There has been varying degrees of interest but only one has been deemed in the best interests of the Club and that is supposedly from Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma.

If any posters in the know or the Ed's can shed any light on this either way I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Chelsea has put its new stadium project on hold. No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur.

The club does not have a time frame set for reconsideration of its decision.

The decision was made due to the current unfavourable investment climate.

A lot of rumours about lewandowski to chelsea we seem to be linked more every day than any other team. is this deal a possibility or is it likely madrid or someone will step in an outbid us. or is there any interest at all from chelsea would we need to offload morata first etc.

An option of sarri terminating his own contract for £1.5m was available to @ChelseaFC that is why they offered a middle path of £4m to ADL which he refused. if they take the 1.5m route then I hope they know what they are doing. This could get messy.

Zidane anyone?

Agree1 Disagree0

31 May 2018 12:46:06
I am unsure on zidane. he is my favourite non Chelsea player ever and I know he has won 3 UCL's on the bounce but its hard to tell if he is a fantastic manager yet with the league form not being fantastic. any of the EDs have an opinion like this or opposite? would love to hear other views.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - like you said it is impossible to judge him but the league form does suggest he struggles to get the players performing consistently over the course of a season. From what I saw of him in charge of Castilla, he is pretty hopeless tactically though. All he did when he stepped in is stop the players from turning against him, like they did with Benitez, where they wouldn't listen to him. Then he took Rafa's system and tactics and made the fans accept them, which they wouldn't do when it was Rafa. Somehow when Zidane played Casemiro as a DM it was a masterstroke, when Benitez had been doing the exact same thing it was because he was too cautious!}

31 May 2018 12:49:23
No chance.

Plus he would want a break. Chelsea would have made their own enquiries about Zidane beforehand I assume.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2018 16:00:13
Yeah, seems it was a masterstroke from the Madrid board more than anything. first manager I remember not to sign a "galactico" which I think again highlights his role as more of a peacemaker in dressing room than long term top top manager. but hey, he could prove me wrong. france @ euro 2020 is his next one I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - is there anything else he can do that won't feel like a step down for him now? He would have to win the Euros and World Cup to come close really.}

01 Jun 2018 08:07:20
yeah I agree. I found it interesting that he mentioned la liga triumph meant more to him than a UCL treble! I think that highlights his own feeling of discontent across the whole season, he also mentioned the loss to leganes in the copa semi.

Hey ed001,

Icardi? Heard anything?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - only that his wife, Wanda, is pushing for a move for him but she is incredibly difficult to deal with. She has been touting him around Europe.}
