Apparently the only thing holding up the neymar deal is some sort of contract he has with nike with changes to his contract having to be made if he joins a team with another brand.

Hey ed is it true roman givin us 100 million 2 spend and do u think we get any of our top targets such as vdw sanchez neymer aguero and if so who most likely 2 come in and whos most likely 2 go and do u think it will be a differnt manger in charge next season thanks ed

{Ed002's Note - There is no fixed budget. As I explained previously there are some fairly high-end targets (Neymar, Ganso, Aguero, Sanchez) where there has been a lot of discussions with their clubs of the past few months, and in some cases offers made. You then look at the other interested clubs and it includes Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, and in the case of Ganso, AC Milan. There are also a bunch of variables which could disrupt various negotiations, the two most significant being (a) the availability of other high-profile players – particularly Pato, but perhaps also Benzema, Ibrahimovic, Drogba, Eto’o, and (b) managers and coaches coming and going over the summer.

There are certain things we know and we can discount – for example Juventus’ interest in Sanchez, Neymar and Pastore all includes a slightly odd deal where Juve will offer several players either in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. I understand an offer of €20m in cash plus Raffaelle Palladino, Sebastian Giovinco, and Amauri would be made for each of these players in return. What may prove attractive is a part-ownership deal which of course English clubs cannot get involved with. It also seems likely that Robinho will have warned Ganso and Neymar off Manchester City, and perhaps even England.

It is too early for me to stick my neck out. What I can say is that Chelsea are working very hard to get a head start on the transfer window – as are many other clubs. Chelsea are well placed to compete financially and have an advantage with the Brazilian players and other Portuguese speaking players already at the club to possibly attract Neymar. I feel the interest in Ganso has waned a little already and it won’t take too much to see the club walk away from any deal for Sanchez or Pastore. Van der Wiel could well be a target for right back and Subotic for centre back. I expect Hilario to be replaced by a third choice home grown goalkeeper or one of the younger ones already on the books.

Two wide players (Dimitri Payet of St-Etienne and Juan Mata of Valencia) and one striker (Edinson Cavani of Napoli) were party of discussions not so long ago – as were several younger players (such as Lucas Piazon who has since agreed to join). I will try and keep abreast of what is happening as far as I can.}

We need to stop thinking we are getting Sanchez & Pastore.

Sanchez has openly said he's a Utd fan so he won't go City and Utd have now said they are spending so he will go there.

Also Pastore's agent has just been quoted as saying he is looking for his dream move to Utd ideally.

Lets hope we get Neymar then that will be at least a major coup for us.

Ben.

{Ed002's Note – I will try and explain what I know to be correct and what is “rumoured” about Alexis Sanchez. We know that Chelsea and Inter Milan have made unsuccessful bids, and we know that Manchester United and Barcelona have a declared interest. Juventus had previously been interested but were hoping that (a) Sanchez stayed under the radar until a deal could be struck, and (b) Udinese would look kindly on an arrangement that included some cash and several players either in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. As an aside Juventus have proposed a similar deal for Javier Pastore. Anyway, there was a January meeting with Chelsea in Monaco and broad agreement was reached over the transfer before Giampaolo Pozzo said that the deal must include a loan of the player back to Udinese. Whilst Barcelona were apparently willing to agree to this until the end of the season, Pozzo proposed that whoever Sanchez moved to should allow him to be loaned back for 18 months – hence the end of any discussions. I expect that Juventus will not come back in to the picture. Although Sanchez has been watched by numerous teams, there is nothing new other than a "rumour" that Manchester City may be preparing a bid as well. They have, like Juventus, recently been knocked back in a bid for Pastore and are likely to aim their cheque book in another direction – this may well be Sanchez. I suspect that we will see a saga drag out through the summer transfer window as Pozzo puts the player on the market, takes him off the market, values him at €100M and so on. Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter will all likely remain interested but could well tire of the expected drawn-out negotiations. Manchester United and Chelsea were both originally wary of the player being not quite as robust as needs be for the EPL. Perhaps Inter will get their man.

As for Pastore, Palermo is a difficult club to deal with (to say the least) and money is not something they are short of. They crave success and I would not be surprised to see him stay another season. Juventus have been knocked back with their standard offer of €20m in cash plus players in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Lampard and Manchester United are looking for a long-term replacement for Scholes. He is certainly not top of Chelsea's transfer list at the moment but they will, I am sure, keep a watching brief. The rejected bid that was publicised was certainly from Manchester City. Liverpool has shown an interest as well but may struggle with the price - which if he is sold is likely to be the highest of the summer.}
