Ed should we stop deluding ourselves that anything will happen?why the hell Chelsea tv are having a transfer deadline day special is beyond me. Yet again clubs just don't want to sell to us and even if they accept some players don't want to come, Butland would rather sit on Stoke's bench than ours apparently. Thanks {Ed002's Note - Who are these clubs that don't want to sell to Chelse. Butland will be the first choice GK at Stoke when he moves there.}

Sorry Ed for annoying you but it just seems that Everton, in particular, just do not want to even contemplate selling to Chelsea in the case of Fellaini, a type of player we desperately need Ed. {Ed002's Note - What makes you say that? Mate, teams want to keep their best players! Top players at so called smaller clubs have to force the deal through most of the time. Fellaini should hand in a transfer request and chelsea should pay what's required. If that happens the transfer should go through, if not, he stays. Simples! DJ

ED02, butland will only be first choice at stoke when begovic goes to Manchester United in the summer.
Personally I think begovic is in the top 3 keepers in the prem, defiantly better than butland.

Ed, I am obviously not privy to that sort of information but from the outside it seems that we have had a long standing interest in Fellaini and nothing has come of it, how that is or why that is, I don't know. I was just asking from an outsider's perspective. Sorry. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea would have an interest in Fellaini at the right price and Chelsea has spoken with Everton about the player. There is a slim chance that there will be a significant offer from PSG for him and it was a matter discussed by PSG on Tuesday. That is all there is to say about Fellaini}

Ed could you tell us who thee players were that we tried to sign this week? {Ed002's Note - Putting aside whether bids were made or not, there were enquiries regarding the availability of of Butland, Fellaini, Isco and Jackson Martinez. Before yesterday it was clear that nothing could be done regarding any of these players.}

Are Chelsea actually still looking to bring anyone in today?

You have said many times that the club has its targets and will not just buy a player for the sake of it, it would seem at present that the main targets mentioned on this site will not be available today (Falcao, Isco etc etc).

Are Chelsea still actively pursuing targets to be signed before the transfer window closes?

It has become very apparent from recent displays that we are in serious need of some investment in the defence.
1. We need to invest in cover for Ashley cole. The ideal person being Luke Shaw he is young English and a fantastic prospect and a Chelsea fan.any chance of that.
2. We need central defensive cover who can organise Cahill who has fantastic potential but who's positional sense needs sorting. Perhaps jagielka. John Terry's recall hasn't worked.
3. I can't believe that they couldn't push through a deal for butland, leaving him at brum for rest of season. Bringing him in next year playing some games with a view to phasing out Petre Czech the following season. Giving us a young keeper who can stay for 10 years.
4. Lastly we have so much young defensive talent out on loan, why not bring back the most promising and start to give them game time, just like we did with jt. Who has been a star but is struggling now and needs replacing.

I hope you can answer some of these

(3) It is not a matter of would a move be good for Chelsea, but would a move be good for Butland. (4) Kalas will return at the end of the season. Bruma will leave etc.. All of this has been dealt with before - try the search function.}

You can have as many good players as you like but if you haven't got a manager to organise and inspire the players you will always get sub standard performances from them.
Coversely average players can be organised to get exceptional results as can be seen by Utd.

Wilfred Bony is on the move to a big EPL team there's a good chance it could be Chelsea.
