Ed, if Neymar joins Chelsea, will he start or resort to the bench until he fully develops? {Ed002's Note - There is no way I can answer that as I don't pick the team. How about a year on loan at Hull?}

Chelsea are understood to have sent a scout to Benfica's Europa League clash with Braga to watch Fabio Coentrao.

The Portugal international, who can play at full-back or on the left wing, has been earning rave reviews for his performances over the past couple of years.

Several English clubs have previously been linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old and Chelsea are reportedly keeping a very close eye on him.

Scouts from Juventus and Atletico Madrid were also thought to be in attendance on Thursday as Coentrao's Benfica side ran out 2-1 winners at home in the first leg of their European semi-final.

Whether any of these clubs step up their interest in Coentrao during the summer remains to be seen, but it is believed that nobody has yet lodged an official offer.

A Benfica source said: "We have not received any formal proposals for the player. It is still too soon for this question."

The Portuguese press is reporting that Benfica would want around 22million (£19.6m) for Coentrao, who is under contract until 2016 and stressed earlier this season that he was happy with the club.
What do you make of it ed? {Ed002's Note - I don't know what you mean. It is all true, Coentrao is being looked at as one alternative for Zhirkov. There is nothing new in this at all.}

Chelsea are ready to swoop for Belgian teenager Romelu Lukaku next month but a move for the Anderlecht striker depends on the exit of two forwards from Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku has long been near the top of Chelsea's summer shopping list, and the 17-year-old has continued his fine scoring form with 14 in the Belgian league so far this season, just one short of his tally for last year.

With Fernando Torres arriving for £50 million in January and Daniel Sturridge likely to return to Chelsea after impressing on loan at Bolton, Salomon Kalou appears to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, with one of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka set to follow to pave the way for Lukaku's arrival.Anderlecht are resigned to losing the striker, who turns 18 in May, but have quoted suitors a 30million (£26.8m) asking price.
The Europe-wide chase for Lukaku is being led by Premier League clubs, with Tottenham, Manchester City and Everton making their interest in the player clear as well as Chelsea.

I think that his dream is to go to the Premier League but we have to see what the possibilities are, " Anderlecht general manager Herman van Holsbeeck "We have spoken to clubs who are interested in the player but I think one club from the Premier League really want the player. We are talking about big money, so we will see.

It is understood that Belgium s most successful club would accept an upfront fee of 20m (£17.7m) for Lukaku, plus another 5m (£4.4m) of performance-related add-ons.

Our competition finishes in 14 days then we will see the future of the player, added van Holsbeeck. The teams who are interested are mainly from the Premier League and in the weeks that are coming we will talk if a club wants to pay the money.

Although Lukaku, whose style of play has been likened to that of his hero Drogba, is a boyhood Chelsea fan, he said in January that he would love to play for any of the big clubs in the Premier League and said a switch to England in the summer is more likely than a move to Spain or Germany, his next most favoured destinations.

Chelsea s path to make a move for Ajax full-back Gregory van der Wiel looks to have cleared after his other potential suitors, Bayern Munich, dropped out of the race, the Guardian report.

The 23-year-old who played in the 2010 World Cup final, has long featured on the Blues wish list as they continue the overhaul operation of their ageing squad, and is expected to cost around £9m.

The Dutchman is very excited at the prospect of making a move: I've never left Amsterdam and I don't know what life is like elsewhere, " He continued.

"It would be a huge challenge [to move] but it ought to work out well I'm sure of that. I want to win trophies, keep progressing and play at the very highest level."Thoughts ed?
