ed who found tomas kalas was it arnesen emelano or sum1 else {Ed002's Note - Arnesen probably brought him to the attention of Neil Bath but I cannot say for sure. Certainly Bath was heavily involved in the decision to sign him.}

Well seems like a good find

Higuain and Cavani seem like unrealistic targets for january (then again so did Torres last january but still). Lukaku still seems a bit young to lead the line and Torres is better at creating chances than finishing them at the moment. Unless Sturridge gets a chance to play down the middle, we need to add someone else to compete for that central role. Ed, have we shown interest in any other strikers that could be more realistic signings this month? {Ed018's Note - its gonna be difficult to bring in a high profile striker in January like you noted. Hiquain and Cavani are the 2 that interest Chelsea the most. So i would highly doubt they will be able to bring either in in January and they will not buy just anyone for the sake of buying. And i have not heard any real interest in any other strikers}

Ed, Chelsea may need attackers but why not go for youngests they are fitter will give them experience truth is Chelsea beat man city so as a Chelsea fan i think we need youngests

Doumbia will be going to the African Cup of Nations and CSKA have talked him up past the £25m mark I think.

hi ed
i have been reading that everton are trying to secure a 6 month loan deal with manchester city for adam johnson
why arnt chelsea looking at the deal as we tried to buy him aswell as man city from midllesborough. though now he has improved massivly {Ed002's Note - I am unable to answer questions like "why aren't Chelsea buying player x".}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Well is it true everton are after him on loan? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson has recently signed a 5 year deal. Unless City buy someone who plays in his position he's going nowhere. And if he were available, he wouldn't go to Everton

hi eds
just a 3 questions i am curious about
1) are chelsea still interested in kaka as a possible option as i think he does need a change as has not been so successful at madrid
2) have chelsea actually submited a bid to real madrid for higuan or are they still looking at the options of cavani who i rate highly
3) finally, aswell as higuan and cavani i have been hearing reports of chelsea looking at soldado is this true?
what do you make of these? {Ed002's Note - (1) Not that I am aware; (2) there were discussions and Chelsea are deciding what to do; (3) not that I am aware, but I guess not out of the question.}

Higuains dad has said he wont leave madrid until his contract is up and seeing as we wont pay big wages we will miss out on another player that could be fantastic

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani would rip the BPL apart BIg Fast Skillfull and has a amazing shot.

hey eds
have or are chelsea ever been interested in borussia dortmunds lucas barrios? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps in the past. It is not totally out of the question that he could be available. Wolfsburg, Espanyol and Sevilla are known to be interested. He has struggled to get back in the starting line-up after injury and does not seem happy with sitting on the bench. But I would expect Dortmund to be looking for a replacement striker as they already know that there is interest in Lewandowski and whilst they have their target set as Welliton I am not so sure they would let both players leave. I also think if he gets a run of games he will stop bleating and stay.}

hi ed, just wondering if u know of any future plans for lucas paizon? after watching the highlights of the arsenal reserves game, this kid looks like he has alot of talent! will he stay in the youth & reserve teams when he turns 18 this month or maybe given first team opportunities? cheers {Ed002's Note - I would expect he will stay with the youth until the summer then a loan next fall.}

Pleasedwith starting line up today but a weak bench, niceties see youngsters lime chalobah bertrand lukaku Hutchinson Josh mc but dunno if any match winners. Hope to god torres does well.

{Ed002's Note - Cech, Bosingwa, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Romeu, Ramires, Meireles, Lampard, Mata, Torres

SUBS: Turnbull, Lukaku, Ferreira, McEachran, Hutchinson, Bertrand, Chalobah

I was surprised to see how defensive the bench is.}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Everyone always asks for AVB to play youth, and when he does, even that gets criticism! There are enough match winners on the pitch. I would imagine winning matches is what they are paid to do.

Hi Ed,
I was wondering if, given Drogba's African Nations leave, there would be any tactical inclination to play Torres up front (as opposed to out on the wing, where he found himself against Villa) with Mata just in behind him, and hence if there would be any serious desire for a new agile left wing forward to plug the space that Mata has hitherto filled. I was under the impression that Mata came to Chelsea as a 'creative' midfielder....
Many Thanks {Ed002's Note - Mata came to Chelsea as Juan Mata and nothing else. I think you are getting way too carried away with all of these tactical thoughts. I have zero interest in tactics or formations and it is clear that most fans have a very naive view or perhaps a video game based view, I don't know. I know this guy at Clairefontaine who for maybe 20 years has been studying if and how different formations are applied. He advocates and teaches that certain sides (he cites Barcelona, Chelsea, Ajax and Kashima Antlers) that have achieved varying levels of success have actually now reverted to something between no formation at all and the Metodo approach and that strict formations should be a thing of the pass. He wants to see intelligent players that can adapt as the game changes and this is what is being toaught to the French kids who are seen as the future of the game in France.}

Hey Ed, thanks for the great work you've been doing. I have some questions;
1) Is cfc planning to contact the previous potential transfer targets it had in summer?
2) it had been reported that javier pastore is not settled at psg. Wud cfc consider luring him to the bridge again this january?
3) With our current difficult times in the pitch, is cfc prioritizing signing in a playmaker this january?
4) Cfc is well known for finalizing transfer deals almost at the end of transfer window like the case of luiz, torres, mata, mireilles. Do you expect a change in this approach this january since our defence is stretched coz of injuries and our midfield and attacking options are becoming inadequate?
5) Wages have turned to be an issue as in the case of kun aguero and pastore and currently we have cahill wages breakdown. Is it that cahill is not worth that rumoured 100k or whats really happening? {Ed002's Note - (1) Chelsea do maintain an interest in players such as De Bruyne, so yes. (2) There is nothing to say that Pastore is unhappy at PSG except poor reporting. (3) I don't know what a "playmaker" is. (4) There is no "approach" that says when transfers are completed. They are done when they are done. (5) I think it would be misleading to get in to specific talk of wages, but Chelsea have not yet agreed a package for Cahill with his representative.}

Thanks for the replies. A playmaker i mean a creative versatile midfielder who can unlock defences as in the likes of modric

Does a playmaker make play:P

First person in my life that dosen`t know what a playmaker is... even my 4 year old son knows what a playmaker is in football!

Ofcourse ed knows what a playmaker is guys, but if youve ever actually been on this site you would know the ed does not respond well to vague questions.
