Eds
With Pastore's agent meeting chelsea representitives tomorrow, can a deal be struck from that meeting? Will it push away any other clubs interested if chelsea meet all demands? Or are palermo just too greedy and would wait for more? {Ed02's Note - Palermo will look for other bidders but it may be rather late for anyone else to appear. Chelsea were previously invited to submit a further bid but decided not to so the original bid remains on the table.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Will the players consideration be taken place in palermos decision to sell or is it the highest bidder gets him? {Ed02's Note - It will be the player's decision effectively.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems tgat Chelsea and PSG offered same amount of money for Pastore(26mil pounds). It is up to Pastore to decide where he want's to play. {Ed02's Note - It is more than £26M.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Its above £34 million

Agree0 Disagree0

If he has any ambition he'l choose the PL {Ed018's Note - agreed}

EDS is it a case of pastore or modric or are we going for both, think mata should cone in and neymar, the whole neymar situation gone quiet, I'm guessing nothing happened or been said by santos president or his agent, last I heard was either barca or Madrid? Have we given up? {Ed02's Note - I know nothing about the situation with Modric. There are bids on the table for Pastore and Neymar.}

28 Jul 2011 22:19:26
Get the feeling where turning into a bit of a laughing stock(Chelsea pensioners).We desperately need youth, pace like mata if reports are correct would only cost 13.5m and would not demand huge wages, surely that deal makes sense.would like to see falcao as he can play out wide left also.Adam Johnson would be a great signing also but can't see city selling to a rival.Also would like to see bale instead of Modric

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Avb is taking his time to have a look at this squad and see what is needed before he just buys for the sake of buying give him time

ED002 will pastore's agent meet with chelsea tomorow?
and also reports suggest chelsea may offer bosingwa in the van der wiel deal? {Ed02's Note - There is a plan for a meeting tomorrow with Simonian. I am not aware of plans for Bosingwa.}

28 Jul 2011 21:43:44
Do you know what the hold up with Rajkovic's work permit is? Can we expect him to actually be wearing blue this year? {Ed02's Note - An application has been made and the next plan is to apply on talent grounds - or so I have been told.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

If you go one the chelsea site there is good explanation, plus quotes from AVB

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems Rajkovic will probably get working permit this summer. Hardly we ca get player of his quality for less than 20-25mil.

zamprini just said the whole psg completing pastore rumour was an invention and that pastores agent is meeting with chelsea officials tomorow read on goal.com released 30 or so minutes ago {Ed018's Note - yea but is anything even believable anymore, there were/was a meeting scheduled but who knows at this point if it will happen or if he is off to PSG}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Is/was perhaps?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2011 19:57:56
Is it true that pastore is goin to sighn for psg please say it isn't true {Ed02's Note - I really don't know. I suspect that nothing has been finalised yet. Simonian has meetings scheduled for tomorrow - perhaps they will be cancelled.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Just heard that it was a false statement about psg and the meetings will go a head with Chelsea to Moro as planed good news {Ed018's Note - yea thats what zamparini has said, but i dont believe anything out of his mouth, so who really knows whats going on anymore}

Agree0 Disagree0

Both the Pastore and Nemar sagas are driving me mental, i wish i could just sleep for the next week or five and just get to the end of them

Hi Ed's
With everyone starting to panic over so called 'Superstar' players being poached under CFC nose and and cfc not reacting quick enough to sign players, in your opnion, (and as we all know CFC do need some fresh faces) is any problems with the CFC negotiators taking too long to sign targets.
Surely ABV knows we have a talented sqaud, but with the team not getttign any younger & the financial rules coming in, this summer is the last window to spend big and bring in the younger talented players for now and the future. Do you know or have any idea if CFC will be bringing in any fresh faces before the window shuts.
Thanks {Ed02's Note - AVB is in the far east. The transfer window is not yet half way through. Players will come in.}

Hi Ed,
do you think a) Benayoun will be relied on more heavily next season, or do you think b) another similar player (Pastore, Modric etc) could be brought in instead?

Also, do you think putting Lamps in a more defensive role changes much with the Essien (or lack of him) situation, or do you think other players (Parker, De Rossi) could be brought in?
Thanks a lot, KTBFFH
Mo {Ed02's Note - Benayoun was injured for most of last season so he will get more time this year. Players will come in. I don't see Lampard playing in a defensive role.}

Ed02, whats the situation with the Director of football position? {Ed02's Note - I don't really know what you are asking. Michael Emenalo is the Technical Director which is that effective role.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

That was my question thanks. Quite a big difference between Michael Emenalo and Frank Arnesen.. (I know Arnesen quite well since im danish, and hes quite a legend here)

Agree0 Disagree0

Does that mean I know John Terry quite well because I'm english and he is quite a legend here?

What a stupid comment

Why does it seem that we constantly take so long to wrap up deals. We've seemingly been after Pastore for a few months, and should have had the deal tied up before other clubs could come in and challenge us for the signing. It just doesn't make sense. Firstly we have been beaten to the signing of Aguero and sanchez, looks as though the same will be said for Neymar and now Pastore by PSG who aren't even in the Champions League. Of course all of these players were never going to sign in one transfer window, but the way the club has been beaten by rivals is to me quite concerning

Not only are we running out of world class players for the positions that we need to strengthen but we're also running out of time. It's all well and good saying there's over a month left of the transfer window, but surely it's far better to get players in for pre-season so that they can get used to the culture and way the club works. Signing them after the season works is always a tricky situation for club and player. Just look at Torres. {Ed02's Note - It is nothing to do with Chelsea - I am actrually surprised how quickly any sort of deal has been done for Pastore if it has. We knew from day one the difficulties in dealing with Palermo. The situation with Aguero was that Chelsea were not going to pay anything like Manchester City are in wages. The situation with Sanchez was a hangover from January and the player wanted to move to Barcelona.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Thanks for replying ED.
I understand the situation with Sanchez, I mean who wouldn't want to play for Barcelona right now. Again with Aguero to an extent. It just strikes me that this season and maybe the next are the last few seasons where teams can go out spend BIG before they seriously have to start tightening the accounts. We have some young talent coming through the team, and the quality of these players is still relatively unknown due to a lack of opportunities so far, but surely we must be looking at the age of our big players and thinking that they need to be replaced sooner rather than later. Without putting too much importance on the FFP rules, we're not going to be able to go out and replace half our team like we did when Abramovich first came in, when FFP does eventually kick in. Maybe PSG are offering ridiculous wages, or maybe the stories of Pastore going there are untrue. Either way I just get the impression that we aren't putting up enough of a fight to get some of the players that could be so important to us in a few years, if not this season. We do also have a billionaire owner like PSG and City lest we forget.

Reports saying arsenal are to open talks with Mata and hope to finalisethe 13.5 m moveif we surly can't let him go. We must be able
To outbid them, his young quick creative and for less than 20m would be brilliant, are we waiting for last couple days and then going to pay well over the odds for our plan b options. Plus gourlay said
In next week
We'd of signed AT LEAST 2 players?? What's latest?? {Ed02's Note - Nothing to my knowledge has changed in respect of Mata from when I replied a couple of hours ago.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

We have already signed one, and are pretty close to a second. (Thibaut Courtois and Oriol Romeu)

Gazzeta (italy) reporting Pastore to PSG 45m Euro currently.Really wouldnt surprise me..a few years in an easier league then off to Barca or Real if it goes well. {Ed02's Note - It is Pastore's choice at present, and England was never going to be a favourite option.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

ED002 Can you confirm that Pastore will join PSG 2 leading italian media reports have said he will be heading there also L'equipe or is this just more BS ? {Ed02's Note - There is no confirmation at this time, but it remains possible.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The same paper reported he would join Chelsea i expect an announcement after thier UEFA cup game are we still in a slightly stronger position

Agree0 Disagree0

Can u shed some light on this ed Italian media say his reps held talks with chelsea in london today but psg have bid 45 mil euros? has anything changed in the last hour? {Ed02's Note - Nothing has changed in teh past hour Simonien has been trying, on behalf of Palermo, to get a higher bid made or to get someone else involved in bidding. There is nothing unusual in that.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So can u confirm that he has not joined PSG at the moment ed002? {Ed02's Note - No.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I really dont understand Pastore, moving to France seems a step down from the Italian league, and a bigger step down from the Prem, for a 22 year old surely the motivation should be to better himself, i dont get it at all.

28 Jul 2011 17:47:49
Hey Ed, according to numerous papers today, reports suggest that Pastore's move to either PSG or Chelsea is "imminent", and that a decision will be made within the next 24 hours, so i was wondering if you could shed some light on this situation please? Thanks {Ed02's Note - There is nothing to say from my perspective. At present the two clubs interested in paying cash are PSG and Chelsea. A cash offer from Malaga was seemingly rejected and other offers inlude the usual part ownership or player exchange deals. MIlan's cash offer was way short of expectations. I would not necessarily trust Palermo to stick to any promise that a decision will be made by tomorrow morning and I rather expect they may be hoping for another bidder. Chelsea's bid remains on the table and unchanged. The rival bid is from PSG. There seems to be nothing else to say at present.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Thanks for that Ed, that clears up a number of things :) So I take it you can't comment on who exactly is in a stronger position to sign Pastore then? Thanks {Ed02's Note - It is as I said this morning, It will likely be PSG or Chelsea. Simonian has apparently been doing the rounds on behalf of Palermo to see if any additional bidders can be found or if higher offer would be made. There are unsubstantiated reports that he will be going to PSG - and we did know that England was never going to be a preferred destination. We will no doubt see soon.}

28 Jul 2011 17:31:16
I'm getting the feeling we are about to pull off some very interesting signings very soon.Surely even a blind man can see our squad needs pace/youth and I feel we are going to sign neymar and let him stay at santos until January.Also set to sign pastore.

higuain is apparently "available" why arnt we going for him before man city buy him too, hes miles better than aguero imo

ED002 will Hilario or Turnbull be sold? I think chelsea will sign 4 players we have 1 space available i think that will be taken by pastore/modric {Ed02's Note - I don't expect either to leave this summer.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Jul 2011 15:13:24
Ed is it true Juan Mata has a 17.5m buy out clause? If so why havent we bid and tied up this deal as it seems alot of clubs are becoming very interested?? {Ed02's Note - Forget buy-out clauses they are complete red herrings. Chelsea have shown an interest in Mata and several clubs could still enter a bid. I would be interested to see if Barca look to do something, and perhaps even Manchester United. But as reported, Arsenal appear to have an edge right now.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Jul 2011 15:00:53
Ed do you rate modric ?? Is he worth 30m in your opinion {Ed02's Note - No.}

I actually think we have a good shout at getting neymar in january. If real madrid do sign tevez and adebayor and also fail to sell benzema or higuin then i doubt neymar will move there i do however see him putting in a good performance against barcelona in the world club cup and them coming in for him but other than that i can see us getting him and it would be an amazing signing and alot of shirt sales in brazil too ... remember it wasnt too long ago he said he wants to come to stamford bridge (then again it was even more recent he said he wants to go madrid /:)

ed dont know if u saw neymars goal against flamengo today but man we need this kid he is outstanding. best goal ive ever seen. check it on youtube if u havent seen it we need this boy. next messi tell me you agree?

Melbourne CFC {Ed002's Note - I saw the goal but I expect the Neymar situation to continue to drag on. Real Madrid are now looking like they will be moving for Tevez, and so again we must wait.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I agree neymar goal was awesome for a player his age but you can also see a growing attitude with him I.e the cristiano Ronaldo attitude who loves himself first football second so I hope someone keeps him grounded and be a great player and great person look no further than messi

ED002 this UEFA G14 Business a runaway league from Fifa what does this actually mean the likes of chelsea man utd real madrid barcelona all in one league? {Ed002's Note - That is the idea. G14 has gone now but the idea was first considered then - maybe 10 years ago. Since then periodic meeting have been held, and continue to be held, to discuss various issues - this being one of them. The next meetings are on August 24 and 25.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is this instead of the UEFA champions league? if not what would happen to the barlcays premiership and the other leagues in the world? without the big teams? {Ed002's Note - If and when it happens it will result in a complete shake up of many of the European leagues as television and sponsorship money will be going to fewer elitist clubs.}

Hi ED i was just hoping you'd be able to shed any light on these "reported" rumours.

Juan Mata's entourage have arrived in london to discuss with arsenal about a possible move to london with a fee of £15m being discussed?

Chelsea have made an improved bid for lukaku in the region of £20m including certain stipulations and have given a August 4th deadline?

Arsenal have inquired about lille's talented winger Eden hazard (huge fan) who is reportedly worth £19m?

Do you have any information on the above and what are your thoughts? With both manchester clubs already being active in the transfer market and also liverpool enhancing its squad where/how do you think we shud go about aquiring new talent/ I believe the 3 players discussed above would be exceelent for Chelsea and all affordable with reasonable wages, young and very talented for the present and future.

Thanks and keep up the good work. {Ed018's Note - i have heard today about Arsenal being after Mata, but havent heard if they are prepared to go after Hazard. There is a bid on the table for Lukaku although i dont know of the exact money involved, but i suspect that he will eventually move to Chelsea}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

What about de bruyne {Ed018's Note - the issue with De bruyne last i heard was he didnt want to be loaned out if Chelsea signed him and that must have been what they told him, so for now its on hold}
