Ed, I want your opinion on something please my friend. If Chelsea choose to sign only one 1 creative midfielder, Do you think they believe that this is guna be enough to solve our creative dificulties? I believe chelsea are being very foolish if they truly think that by signing one single attacking midfielder they will inject some sexy football in to the squads game. Lampard has absolutley nothing goin forward anymore at most he should be more of a bench player now. Ide say Benayoun would be our only real penatrative midfielder at this moment in time. Now correct me if im wrong but him and whatever AMF they eventually choose to bring in. This will no where near be enough to give us this creative quality were missing so much?? We need at least 2, My choice would be Nasri and Sneijder. Your thoughts ed please? {Ed018's Note -i personally feel like one creative mid will be enough. if they can bring in neymar or sanchez or even both that'll make the front line alot more creative than last year and i expect to see something along those lines happen.}

Javier Pastore is just a talent and that's it. Just another player exaggerated on and overrated by their owner just to get the biggest fee as possible. Javier has a long way to go to justify that 50m euro valuation.

I sincerely hope not.

ed, you mentioned earlier that modric may have to hand in a transfer request in order to leave. Are chelsea specifically waiting for such a thing to happen or are they going to make another move regardless {Ed018's Note - it's possible, i think they are going to make a push for Pastore, and if that fails they may come back to Modric.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

27 Jun 2011 22:15:45
Modric will sign eventually, villas has sounded out roman of the possibility of getting glen johnson back who he knows from his previous time at the bridge.Falcao to sign also, if this fails i hear that gervinho is the back up plan and i wouldnt rule out us having a try for david villa who is unhappy at barca. {Ed018's Note - please no glen johnson.

Ed are we going back for modric or are we waiting for him to make a move behind the scenes with Leevy? Thanks {Ed018's Note - Modric may have to put in a transfer request for any move to happen. They really dont want to sell him.}

1. How about this rumour that Ashley Cole may leave for Madrid? What truth is there in it?

2. Do you think also that chelsea have dropped all ideas of buying Neymar anymore? I personally think we should put in another bid, but what the price and the rock that is real madrid, I don't think we should have any hope. {Ed018's Note - i'd be suprised to see Cole leave for Madrid. There will continue to be efforts to sign Neymar.}

What do you think Drogba will be feeling with all these ideas of being used as a pawn? Especially now that Arda Turan seems to be worth him plus £7 million. Do you think Turan will be moving to chelsea? I think it is quite likely but i just want another opinion.

thanks {Ed002's Note - Drogba won't go unless he wants to. I would not be surprised to see Kaluo offered up as part of a deal.}

Hey ED, I was just wondering if Villas Boas will be bringing in some off his backroom staff from Porto to chelsea, and If so, which people will he bring in?

Also, do you expect Falcao and Moutihno to join still?

Thanks Ed, I appreciate the effort you have put into this brilliant website ;) {Ed002's Note - I am not going to say anything about backroom staff at present. Falcao there is a good chance. I don't know about Moutihno.}

Have heard that the Modric bid was a smokescreen for a secret move for Sneijder Was told that was why a poultry offer was made and Chelsea leaked it to the press to force a move on Man United's hand so they could swoop in and seal Sneijder. That is why is been very quiet over Modric in the recent days. Not my usual source but interesting none the less. Could it be true/possible Ed? {Ed002's Note - No.}

edd what do you think about sortis ninis, erik lamela and christian erickson there all younger and cheaper options. {Ed002's Note - They are random names - Eriksen has been turned down twice by teh club and has now turned Chelsea down. Lamela has third party ownership by undeclared people - there is no benefit in simply throwing names out from some damn football game or whatever.}

ed, I know it's difficult to say but will there be an increased amount of transfer activity regarding player arrivals or will it be like last summer with only one or two players brought in?thanks {Ed002's Note - Chelsea are making a lot of effort for a number of players - we will see how it pans out. There was a little regrouping over the weekend after the setbacks with Neymar and we are now back in to a working week.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

27 Jun 2011 19:08:10
ed could we get sanchez and pastore because that would improve our team immensely and also we would be beating man city and barca for both which would send out a message {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to answer "what if" questions about multiple players. And Chelsea do not care about sending out any sort of message.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

27 Jun 2011 19:06:09
ed you were trying to get the falcao deal done what is stopping it as all we have to do is pay the clause and hes ours or are chelsea trying to get him cheaper {Ed002's Note - I am afraod that you have a very naive view of the transfer process. There will still be many things to be resolved. Try having a little more patience.}

hi ed, could Chelsea buy pastore and sneijder ? because if pastore is the only creative midfielder bought this summer, it would not really be what everyone hoped it would in terms of a big name creative midfielder being signed?thank you {Ed002's Note - I for one would be very happy with Pastore. However, whilst both could be bought I think it most unlikely.}

Forgive me for always looking for blunt answers but is pastore likely now? and is it possible it will happen before the copa america? Thanks buddy

ed with the bid for pastore being made, does that mean that any option to bring a player like sneijder is out the window?.pastore's technical ability is evident but his physical ability is questionable for the premier league.I don't understand why the club can't spend the money on a proven world class player such as a sneijder.thanks {Ed002's Note - Perhaps not out of the window - but Pastore has been a target for a very long time.}

Hey Ed, I was just wondering if you could shed some light on the comments of the Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini who said today that they have recieved a 50mill (Euro) bid for Pastore? A week or so ago he said that this was the figure he was looking for? Is there any truth to this? Also reports say that we are bidding for Villa, i asume this is false... Cheers in advance {Ed002's Note - I will guess that he may now be looking for a different figure. I don't know of any response to the bid yet, but it is a transfer that could well drag on.}

Im hoping a deal for Falcao is pretty close, however a guy i spoke too claimed any deal would have to wait till after the copa america due to any risk of the player picking up a major injury in the tournament.
Take your pick from the rest really, Sanchez, Pastore, Modric, and Neymar, they are all definate blues targets, i expect 1 of those to arrive, however they are all complicated deals and could drag on for a while longer yet.
Drogs, Anelka, Bosingwa and zhirkov seem the most likely to make way, although the rumours of ash going to Spain are certainly a possibility. {Ed002's Note - An attempt is being made to wrap up Falcao prior to the Copa America. Any injury he gets there is insured against, so don't worry there.}

I just watched Lucas Piazon for the first time in the U17 World Cup and he played like a typical Brazilian full of creativity amazing in running the channels and gr8 support for his team. But honestly Soumaila Coulibaly is simply WOW i mean the guy has now scored 8 goals in 3 games. The way he plays is amazing such a threat that defenders loose control of everything when he is near them ( although all defenders are still very young). As a farewell gift from Didier Drogba when he decides to step down from Chelsea HE SHOULD PERSUADE Soumaila Coulibaly to join us.

do manchester united have any interest in sturridge do you know? theres been a few rumours flying round that they do, i will be so annoyed if they sold him this summer. {Ed002's Note - There is no plan to sell Sturridge unless he says he wants to go. The plan is that he will effectively replace Anelka. It means he may need to play wider than he perhaps prefers.}

Forgive me if what I post seems slightly delusional, but a major overhaul of the squad is not needed. A few like for like replacements, of course, but most of you need to get your head out of the clouds and stop pestering the Ed's with paper talk

Contrary to belief, we are not in a real life version of championship manager. (take a look at deals concerning Pastore and Neymar) it isn't as simple as here's the money, give us the player.

A right back (VDW), playmaker (Modric, if not Pastore) and maybe 2 attacking options will see us suited an booted. I'm sure even the Ed's are in the dark about those options. (take your pick of Neymar, Lukaku, Villa, Mata, Falcao, Hulk, Aguero and whatever else the tabloids see as enough to sell their papers).

In Villas Boas we trust. {Ed002's Note - I thought I had already explained about the bid for Pastore?}

Apparently Chelsea have had a offer turned down for David Villa and they are interested in Fabio Contraou .

What do you think ED ? {Ed002's Note - The Villa offer is an old story recycled and can be ignored. Coentra is simply an option if Cole moves - but he would need to move to Real Madrid to make it a viable option.}

Hey ed, are Chelsea still chasing Neymar and going to bid for Alexis Sanchez or is this renewed interest in Sanchez because the Neymar deal looks to be dead and they see Sanchez as an alternative? {Ed002's Note - The situation with Neymar is in the balance because Chelsea will not, at least at present, agree to pay a fee that Santos will accept. As such, Santos will not grant permission for any further talks about the player. It seems that no other club has said they will match the asking price either - meaning that any attempts to agree the transfer before the Copa America now seem to have gone. As for Sanchez, Chelsea will make one more bid for the player and await a response from Udinese. This is imminent.}

So a bid will be made in the net few days then ED002?

Ed, how do you think ABV will accommodte these new signings, with falcao looking close to signing it suggests he's going for 2 up top with torres but where will the important playmake role be if we play something like a 4-4-2. With chelsea having so many midfielders and if another one come's in who will fill the playmaker position some will surely have to be sold. How do you see this planning out? {Ed002's Note - I don't see him changing from his preferred 4-3-3 and I don't want to get in to any discussions about formations.}

which playmaker will come ed ?

{Ed002's Note - The original target was always Pastore. I know that a bid was placed and Pastore may well be moving this summer - but it seems to be on/off week-by-week. Palermo is a difficult club to deal with (to say the least) and money is not something they are short of. They crave success and I would not be surprised to see him stay another season. Juventus were knocked back ages ago with their standard offer of €20m in cash plus Raffaelle Palladino, Amauri and Sebastian Giovinco in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Lampard and Manchester United are looking for a long-term replacement for Scholes. The rejected bid that was first publicised was certainly from Manchester City and Chelsea made a subsequent bid. Liverpool had shown an interest before Christmas but will struggle with the price - which if he is sold is likely to be the highest of the summer. Atletico Madrid are also interested buy I suspect that they will be priced out of the market.The fee will be in the region of £50M or a part ownership deal may well be negotiated. If I had to suggest a destination Barcelona, one of the Milanese clubs (but they have potential non-EU player quota issues) or an outside chance of Chelsea who still keep an interest. An equiry for Sneijder has gone very quiet and I know very little about the reported Modric situation. Things could change if it is decided to try and play Sanchez in the central role rather than on the right or if Villas-Boas has other ideas. My preference would be for Pastore.}

Real Madrid have not made a bid acceptable to Santos so Neymar is not in a position to agree any sort of deal. Santos are very unhappy with Real Madrid about such rumours. However, there remains a chance that he wiull move to Madrid.}

ED, just a few question:

1. What is happening with A.Sanchez, it looked like he was joining barca, but thats cooled down a bit. I know City are interested but know it seems Chelsea are back in the hunt. Whats the latest on his situation?

2. Modric, i know we made a bid a couple of weeks which got rejected, but from what i hear we are still very interested in the playerr. What's happening with him?

3. Lastly Falcao, what is the situation with him? has anything been agreed in terms of personal details or is it a matter of the player weighing up a move to either Madrid or Chelsea.

Many Thanks,
Ollie {Ed002's Note - (1) Chelsea will make another bid. We know that Chelsea, Manchester City and Inter Milan have previously made unsuccessful bids, and we know that Manchester United and Barcelona have a declared interest. Juventus had previously been interested but were hoping that (a) Sanchez stayed under the radar until a deal could be struck, and (b) Udinese would look kindly on an arrangement that included some cash and several players either in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. As an aside Juventus have proposed a similar deal for Javier Pastore. Anyway, there was a January meeting with Chelsea in Monaco and broad agreement was reached over the transfer before Giampaolo Pozzo said that the deal must include a loan of the player back to Udinese. Whilst Barcelona were apparently willing to agree to this until the end of the season, Pozzo proposed that whoever Sanchez moved to should allow him to be loaned back for 18 months – hence the end of any discussions. I expect that Juventus will not come back in to the picture. Although Sanchez has been watched by numerous teams including Roma, there is nothing new other than Manchester City having a bid rejected for the player and Inter entering further discussions about the player - but I am told that no further bid has been made. Manchester City, like Juventus, were knocked back in a bid for Pastore and are likely to aim their cheque book in another direction – this may well be another bid for Sanchez. The advantage they have, in addition to being able to match any transfer fee, is the ability to put together a wage deal far beyond anything the other clubs could afford or would be willing to pay. I suspect that we will see this whole saga drag out through the summer transfer window as Pozzo puts the player on the market, takes him off the market, values him at €100M and so on. Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter will all likely remain interested but could well tire of the expected drawn-out negotiations. Manchester United and Chelsea were both originally wary of the player being not quite as robust as needs be for the EPL. Perhaps Inter will get their man or perhaps Sanchez will respond positively to reported interest from the nice folks at Barcelona or even Real Madrid. There is an unconfirmed report that Manchester United have asked for time to consider a further bid and that bid appears to be imminent. I have speculated that Manchester United may turn their attentions to Eden Hazard instead if a further bid for Sanchez fails. The player has made no secret of his desire to stay in Italy. An enquiry from Anzhi Makhachkala has also been rebuffed at the first hurdle. (2) I don't know what if anything is happening with Modric. (3) As I understand matters, attempts are being made to complete a deal this week, prior to the Copa America starting.}
