Just to clarify, I don't want him to go and I don't think what he does can be replicated to the same level. But, I do think there's a strong chance he will move on in this window.

J; I think every good player leaves or is/ can/ will be replaced at one point or another in their career; the right question we should ask ourselves (if we have decided to replace Kante) is, ‘how does the club replace a good player like Kante without the detrimental effects of him leaving showing on the team? ’.

You don't look for a like for like individual replacement. It was impossible to replace what Lampard or Terry did as individuals, but as a team we continued to be successful without them.

There isn't a player in world football who could replicate what Kante does for the team as a direct replacement, but as a squad we would move on and continue to be successful.

Guys there are bad, good, great players and then there are once in a generational talents who you don't move out till they retire ( Terry, lamps, Drogba, kante) . I would prefer we keep him till he doesn't push for move and train a prodigy like ampadu under his tutelage. Even if he can become 50 percent of the legend that kante is then we would be good for 10 years. So for no sale of kante for next 6 years for me.

I'm always as disgusted as the Ed on how some of us think kante should be replaced. I once said that kante's less influence in the team is down to Lampard's shortcoming rather than kante's weakness.
He only had injury hit season and will be back again to his best. Not every player is sold just because he's getting to the 30 year mark.

As I understand it Kante will only be leaving if he wants to leave. Again as far as I know he hasn’t expressed any desire to leave. So, at the moment it’s all academic.

Some people refer to his age and supposed “injury problems” as a reason to sell. Let’s be clear, he is a class act and if he is fit he plays!

Anyway, if Mane is being valued at €200mil by some Liverpool fans than Kante has to be worth €201mil.

Kante is simply not replaceable in my opinion. I doubt he will be sold unless he asks to leave which is fair enough. Kante in the team makes it 12 men.

We'll see what happens Ed.

I will say that, should he stay, the management will have to be smart about how and when they choose to use him.

I wouldn't expect him to play week in, week out, in the all action manor that he does. I think this would result in more injuries, which isn't good for anyone concerned.

Great to hear your view on Kante ED047.I was having this conversation on here with someone recently. Why on earth would you sell your best player. Some posters play too much play station. 😀.

{Ed047's Note - he’s incredible G8 and I’d have him in a heart beat, play the guy in his right position which Sarri and initially, Frank weren’t doing and he is awesome mate.

One of my favourite players and such a great guy too.

For those that think Kante should be moved on perhaps you remember when Makalele was considered surplus to requirements at Real Madrid?
It weakened Real considerably defensively and, strengthened us massively.
Anything that weakens us, defensively this season would be a very risky move by the club.

No you can't replace Kante he hasn't been played in his most effective position
To replace him we would need 2 players as a Chelsea fan who loved makalele when he was at Chelsea well Kante covers twice as much ground reads the game as good as makalele did and offers way more going forward too in a team of youngsters his experience is going to be as valuable as his ability is
For me it would ruin the best transfer window for years if we let our only true world class player leave.

I know it isn’t palatable to hear that Kante can/ will or should be replaced but be prepared guys cos it will come a day when you will hear that Kante is leaving the club and someone will come as his replacement; will his replacement be able to do the job? That I can’t tell.

I don’t think Kante will retire at Chelsea TomB, I think he’s too good a player to retire at Chelsea (I am not saying that he’s better than other great players that has retired at the club) rather I feel the beauty of a player (like Kante) having so much value is that you sell him for a good sum after he must have played for you for some years and reinvest (like we did with Eden Hazard) that is if he (Kante) wants to leave.
