Ed002: I know for a fact that we followed Adam Johnson, while he was at Middlesbrough. We were tipped to make a move for him back then. I do not know have we placed a bid, or has City come first when our interest became known, but if we had an interest then, i see no reason why we shouldn't as i only see an improvement in his game.

He may not be of Hulks abilities, but with our recent set up, i'd say he would start on our right side right away. If Agueri is coming, as it gathering speed over the last few days, the boy would seem to see even less minutes on the pitch. I'd be happy if we moved for him.

just been told by a friend that is normally correct about these things that chelsea are preparing a bid for the Spartak Moscow midfielder Jano Ananidze. Do you no if they is any truth in this?

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Is there any chance Chelsea could attempt to hijack this and speak to him? Surely money can't be his only consideration.

Is it true ed002 Aguero will arrive in london on wednesday to hold talks with man city? {Ed018's Note - yes he is due to have talks with them soon, im not sure of the location though}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would it be in London? Definitely Manchester. {Ed001's Note - lots of clubs do business in London purely for the ease of it. Most companies, including football clubs, maintain offices in London that they can use as a base for concluding deals in all areas of operations. It makes sense to deal with it in London away from prying eyes.}

Ed, is there, or has there ever been interest in Jesus Navas? He seems perfect for us, pacy, can take defenders on, good dribbling skills, and he can actually supply a decent final ball too. Plus he us still only like 24 or 25 right?

Seems to be a good target to me, if he is one.

Rowey. {Ed018's Note - i havent heard of any interest in him, and isnt he the one who gets home sickness really bad}

ED002 i have been away for a few days i would appreciate it if you could answer these questions.

1) I have seen the Pastore is close to joining rumours i dont think the deal is that close to be honest but i did see your post where you said we were in a strong position has anything changed?

2) What is the situation with Modric & Lakaku

3) A Bola reported Chelsea still have an interest in Falcao is he still a target even though he has a new contract?

4) When will we start offloading some players after watching some pre season games we are lacking wingers and a playemaker

5) I noticed a post where you said if the targets we have are not available we will stick with what we have but have we enquired for any wingers?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - I provided an update on all of this yesterday - nothing has changed since then.}

Hi ED, seen a few posts about Adam Johnson but not really seen a proper answer, just wondering what your thoughts are in Chelseas interest in the player? Cheers ED {Ed002's Note - I think it is speculation right now, nothing more. However, if there is a decision to look at a right sided winger he is a viable option.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Would like to see him join, i think he is a really good player, can score, produce a good cross and creat something out of nothing, i was always surprised when he wasnt more highly regarded at Man City.

I feel if we get pastore only one more signing is nedded and that is a winger a class one and there is no need for a new centre back if rajkovic gets his work permit he has a really good future and I like a new addition to the squad anyway also I feel avb is right about our squad being pretty strong and as for people complaining about lampard being replaced they are wrong you didn't hear utd fans moaning about scholes playing for the past two seasons because they had faith In an ageing great player. I watch every chelsea game and feel if necessary drogba can fill a wing void so many times I've seen him drift wide to the left and shrug off defenders on the by line and he can pick out a cross aswell . Also people saying we need a new rb season before last who was rb. Of the year

Ed's or anyone else please feel free to reply to the post with other theorys

I agree with most. To me there is no RB problem at all. It s just speculated that Ivanovic doesn't like playing there. I'm not buying it. He isn't that kind of guy to moan about it. He played perfectly on the right and i guess he knows that as well. It s managers job to motivate and convince the guy, that this is a team, not an individuals game. I'm pretty sure AVB will do that. Also - don't forget we have Bosingwa. I know - it is speculated that he will leave, as he ain't that young anymore, also had all these injuries, but - remember his first season? He was absolutely great. And if CFC don't sell him this summer, you can look at our right back spot anyway you like - but that is the best combo of players in this position in the whole league. {Ed002's Note - I can assure you that Ivanovic only wants to play CB and cover at RB.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need a couple of wingers to be honest, as well as pastore, i didnt like the way Malouda played at the end of last season and at the very least would like to see a player come in who can challenge his place, as well as a natural right winger, which we dont have at the moment and it really shows. I agree about the RB spot, to much has been made of it and i think Bran is a really good RB, very secure indeed

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel our problem with lampard is that he is still one of the first names on the team sheet, no matter what form he is in. He needs to be treated like scholes was, starting in the big games and a sub to try and spark something against the smaller clubs. But there is no doubt he still has a role to play at the club. This goes for Drogba too. Just hope that Villas Boas will play people on form rather than reputation.

Eds, unrelated to this, I have just read that Mikel is available to Juventus for £15m. Just rumours or is there something to this? Personally I think this would be a good deal for both clubs. I feel he is a bit sloppy at times and struggles with the pace in the PL and would be a much better player in Serie A.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think bringing in Pastore, Modric and a few wingers would strengthen the team, yes it is already strong but it could give the edge for us to win more trophies

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can assure you that Ivanovic only wants to play CB and cover at RB.}

I have no reasons to not believe you, when you are sure over something related to our club, but think about it. Bran is a fan favourite, a great player, everyones is happy to have him here. I know what he said of his wishes when he extended the contract, but with JT, Alex, David Luiz at centre, it would be hard for any defender to be assured of starting spot. I believe he can get some 20 games at the heart and other 30-40 at right back through all competitions. This would be a good balance from my fans view.

Also i remember one game from last season, when they switched positions with David Luiz in the second half. That looked great too.

Agree0 Disagree0

"you didn't hear utd fans moaning about scholes playing for the past two seasons because they had faith In an ageing great player."

No, they didn't moan because he didn't start every match that he was available for and play for 90 minutes, regardless if he was hurting us... like Lampard.

cant reply to my original post ed. hopefully havent been blocked. thank you for not taking my comments the wrong way, unfortunately some bloke that cant read decided he would do that for you. im going to guess becuz ive signed the post "Melbourne CFC" some people think i cant be as valued as the rest, even though i pay my membership every year.

thanks for replying and dont worry about the grief you get from the tosspots. your a true gentlemen to put up with us.

although most of the fellas on this site seem to think we are no hope for the top 4 without signings i will keep my faith. people forget lampard scores 20+ a year and was out for half last year. people think he needs replacing... sometimes i think some of our supporters could do with some replacing.

Once again love the work keep it up

Melbourne CFC {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about, but the post seems fine.}

Last season, we got rid of: Belletti, Ballack, Deco and sold Carvalho. And who did we bring in. No one. And guess what...What did we win? nothing. We had 4/5 players out for one reason or another. Now please tell me we don't need 4/5 players. I've supported the CFC for over 25 yrs, i'm as passionate about them as you are. But look how we struggled last season. No depth, and little movement. Please Roman spend.

Hi, Are we waiting for the squad to return from Asia before we actually do anything. I can't believe a club like the CFC won't break the bank to sign Aguero. He is absolute class. Were paying 6 members of our squad inexcess of £120k per wk, and Torres is on £170k. And for what, i like Torres but he'll never be the same player he was a Liverpool. We should also offer £35 for Modric, get the deal done and stop messing around. We won't get Pastore either. IF we don't get any quality in that squad soon we'll be a distant memory from the top 4. We need at least 4/5 quality players, if not more and get rid of some of the dead wood. Thanks for all your input. Sorry just having a rant.

Believable11 Unbelievable7

You do know Abromovic does what he thinks is right for chelsea. I would rather see us sign players on a cheaper wage that understand what it means to play for Chelsea and in the best league in the world, players like Aguero just want the money. I agree we have some players we need to move on but "dead wood" is harsh, I personally feel that Malouda and Kalou have been hard done by on this site. I agree at times they can play rubbish but Malouda has done really well for us the last couple of seasons and i think if we get some competition in for his position we could see the best of him every time he is on the pitch, Kalou does concern me, he is an impact sub but sometimes without the impact, when is confidence is up he can play amazing football and pulls defenders wide so Lampard can do what he does best. I think Mikel really needs to buck up this year but i do think he should get the year to prove himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

Say what you want about the current squad, it still oozes quality and experience. It does not need a major overhaul; but I agree that one or two players need to be brought in, and two or three fresh faces brought in. Everyone seems to be throwing around names: Neymar, Sanchez, Pastore et all, which are not your usual (Abramovich era) Chelsea players. Since Roman took over, Chelsea has been a club that has relied on organization and determination, rather than flair, to be successful. To bring in too much flair would drastically upset the balance of what is already there. Changes like that need to be introduced gradually, not suddenly, to allow the club to adjust properly. I am not saying that no creativity is needed, and I strongly hope that the Pastore deal can be concluded soon. The addition of a right sided winger would help, but apart from Hulk, who is way overpriced, I don't see many candidates. As for finishing outside top 4, if it weren't for key injuries at key times and a drastic slump in form which the management failed to address properly, we would have won the league last season. Don't write off the squad before the season hes begun. CA

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric is not worth 35mill, im sure even deep down Harry knows this and i would, and im sure others would also be disapointed if we spent this much on him. The money can be better spent elsewhere. As for Aguero, you mention a couple of Chelsea wages, from what i have read Aguero was demanding around 250 per week, which man city can offer (i believe its what Teves is on aswell) but really we cant give that much, and again i would be disapointed if we lavished that much on him, I would much rather AVB moves at his own pace and we bring in players for a fair price and who AVB thinks will improve the team, not just any old player who happens to be on the market

Agree0 Disagree0

@ 2nd reply.....you wouldn't class robben as a flair player? or joe cole? Gr nkj r? we do need a good quality rb though melchiot was the last time we had a relatively decent player in that position and maybe ferreira in his first couple of seasons. pastore would be a great signing too :P

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats about right Modric being worth £35 (not million). Just like his pathetic club.

Agree0 Disagree0

What tosh It would be suicidal to bring in 4 or 5 new players. We don't need them. 1 playmaker and perhaps a winger (although we have Kakutu and Sturridge who can both play wide). A big 'NO' to Modric at £35Mill.

Are Thibaut Courtois and Oriol Romeu confirmed signings for the club? If so, any thoughts on which two players Ron Goulay's quote refers to: 'we will have at least two signings in the next eight to 10 days'? {Ed002's Note - Courtois is and Romeu seems to be just about complete. I have no idea what Gourlay was referring to.}

Hey Ed(s), i was just wondering, its been a while since the Copa finished, and even longer since Brazil were knocked out, i was just wondering if anything has changed with Neymar, is that saga any nearer reaching a conclusion? Cheers.
Nick. {Ed002's Note - As I said yesterday, Chelsea's position is clear and is that of Real Madrid and Anzhi. I wouldn't hold your breath for anything to happen anytime soon.}

EDITOR....What will villa boas do with our young players like kakuta, sturride, joshua, bertrand, van anholt, delac, lalkovic, rajkovic, tomas kalas. would all of them be involved in regular first team football or loaned? if loaned, which club u consider would be a good developmental ground for these guys.

KINGS XI CHELSEA {Ed002's Note - They cannot all be involved with regular first team football and some will go on loan - but aside from Bertrand nothing has yet been decided. As to where they will go, much depends on approaches made to Chelsea by other clubs. I doubt too many would end up in the EPL.}
