Big rumour guardiola is quitting to take a year out then take another job, Robbie gets another season at Chelsea allowing guardiola to take the helm for the start of 2013/14 season. Get in.... Spready.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Who needs guardiola when uve got robbie?

Agree0 Disagree0

Extremely overrated as a coach, would not like to see him at chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

Unbelievable I few weeks ago us the fans were saying we would love Guardiola as manager, and now no-one is interested in him managing our club because of two results. If he could turn our club into a fast skilful footballing club then I would welcome him with open arms. My only problem would be he only signs 1 year contracts so wheres the continuity in that which is what we so desperately need. However if he does badly then it's only 1 season and we don't have to pay compo which I'm sure Mr A would like.

I know we just beat barca but that is an ignorant comment. most successful coach at barcelona at 41. During his four-year tenure, Guardiola has won two Champions League crowns, three La Liga trophies, one Copa del Rey, three Supercopas, two Uefa Super Cups and two Fifa Club World Cups.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guardiola represents a bigger risk than Robbie without doubt.
But RA has this dream of a winning team playing attacking football.
The real problem is the resources required to buy the players to achieve that under FFP.
Personally I would prefer a more pragmatic manager like Robbie who has proven he can mould an ageing team into a successful one.

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem for me would be the fact that the current set of players wouldnt be able to play his style of football and it would definately take more than the one year for the change to start being affective

ED002 Pep Guardiola will announce within 48 hours whether he will leave or not do you know if he is likely to leave Barcelona? {Ed002's Note - No idea.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I wouldn't want him as chelsea manager anyway, he isn't the mastermind behind Barcelona's tactics, Frank Rijkaard was.

Agree0 Disagree0

To whoever it was praising Rijkaard (above): Guardiola changed the ethos of Barca by removing the big egos from the squad and utilising Barca B players whenever possible. His tactics are definitely different to those that Rijkaard employed and to argue otherwise is a detraction to what Guardiola has achieved.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually it was Cruyff that started the Barcelona style back in the 90's

Surely, the influence of Rinus Michels in the 1970s cant be underestimated. Back on topic, i dont rate Pep at the very top. has done a great job at FCB but i reckon most managers could do the same and transfer wise he is poor

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to agree the majorities of his transfers has been flops, he's relied on Barca's youth set-up and existing players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not having a bar of that, he jumped into an amazing team,any 1 (even avb) could manage barca, he too of chanca or how ever u spell it the left winger n brought on a young defender when barca were on there way out,great team management

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy has created the best team in the world had 4 amazing seasons and his team lose a few games and he wants to throw in the towel. It's pathetic. Have some balls, dig deep and try and turn it around don't just walk away when things get tough!

Try something new! He's had a pretty cushy job in management let's be honest and he's not use to losing but to want to quit after 3 loses in a row (for the first time) seems absurd.

I think so much less of him now. However, it is only paper talk for now.....

Agree0 Disagree0

He always said that that if he ever lost the ability to motivate the players he would leave dont understand why you have lost respect for himits been an increadibly poor season by their standards and he is sticking to his philosophy that if a team loses interest there must be a change in personal. the man is a tactical genius and you need to be really special to manage a team for more that 5 years and still keep the motivation

Hey ED, has there been any news on building a new stadium? Are there any plans to go ahead with this project next season? And most importantly, do you think that Chelsea will end up securing the plans to build a new stadium in the next few years?

Thanks

Samir {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new to report at this time - perhaps in June there will be some news.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Thanks ED, do you think that in the next few years Chelsea might be able to secure the plans of building a new stadium as "expanding Stamford Bridge is no longer feasible"?

Thanks again,

Samir {Ed002's Note - I would not totally rule out something happening at Stamford Bridge but there something will happen one way or another in the next few years.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers ED, atleast something will happen. We need to start challenging with the likes with Arsenal and Man united in terms of stadium capacity if we are ever to make enough revenue to stay within the top ten european clubs.

What was the main problem anyway? Surely the CPO recognised that we needed other ways to create revenue after the Abramovitch era and after FFP rules kick in? Any fool would see this surely?

Thanks

Samir {Ed002's Note - I don't have time to explain teh issues again but the capacity will not be anything like Old Trafford and probably less than the Emirates. And "after the Ambramovich" era is meaningless.}

Hi ed is it true Roman has sent his scouts on a 6 month mission in January to draw up an eleven man transfer target list for the minute the window opens?apparently as heard from an agent in the business (giovani becali) stated on Romania television that the final list is as follows, azpiculeta, pereira, javi Garcia, moura, hazard, gotze,falcao,hamsik, modric, vertoghen?amounting to nearly 400 million and is going to spend the buy out clause on each to avoid competition from other clubs?seems unbelievable but funnier things have happened in football?any truth in an operation of this stature by the club? Danny {Ed002's Note - No, it is not true. Where you get this rubbish from? Twitter?}

Our teams recent performances are defying the odds, as we can see. And enjoy. The likes of Obi are looking world class, while Drogs is just as predator as he was in 2008. This is perfect when you have another 6 games to play and every player not named Essien, Studge or Malouda are brimming with confidence.

Still, looking past those 6 games. A few very difficult decisions await. What do we do about Drogba's contract and Kalou's if anything? What if DD finally drops his antics and delivers the "big ears"? Torres and Drogba have scored 20 goals among themselves this season. That is Lampards average. You don't and shouldn't expect much from a team which's strikers deliver this much. What do we do? Opinions gents!

JG

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Well we have to sign at least one reliable goal scorer in the Falcao mode.
Personally I would sell Torres and sign two if Lakaku is going on loan and deemed not good enough for the first team.
I just dont think we can afford to gamble on Torres hitting top form again.
If we can keep Drogs for another year then maybe he can be the 2nd striker.
Regarding Kalou I think we should definately offer him a new contract providing he accepts that he will be a squad player.
Midfield we need some real quality with experience to challenge Frank and likewise we need a goalscoring winger rather than trying to get Sturridge to adapt to the position.
I think he could well be on his way as well.
Its a question of evoloution not reveloution as many are demanding on here, plus allowing space for the likes of De Bruyne/Lakaku/Courtois to integrate themselves into the squad.
It looks like those three will go on loan so it maybe we need to keep Malouda for another year for example to allow De Bruyne to get another years experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikes is not lookin world class

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikel is certainly looking better, but he's not world class and never will be.

I agree with the club's stance of only offering Drogba a 1 year deal. He's been immense for the last month or so, but was no better than average for the 6 month period prior to that. I'd offer him a one year deal, but not a day longer. If he performs in that year, then he can have another one.

I don't believe that Torres will ever revisit his early Liverpool form and if we get a half decent offer for him, I'd let him go.
