Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - There is plenty of interest in a loan - Bournemouth, Brighton, Stoke, Newcastle.}

Bournemouth would be good if Howe intends to actually play him and not use him as cheap depth.

Ed02 we all know that clubs cannot approach a player of another team whilst under contract etc etc. When it comes to the start of the transfer window what activity if any, has already been done by the buying club with regard to the potential signing of a player? Has his agent been approached and been made aware of the teams interest. Have some transfers proceeded even further? . Or does everyone wait until the first day of the window before starting any process of seeing if the player is available, if he wants to come, and what the fee is likely to be? . Thanks .

{Ed002's Note - A good question Sid. And greeat thanks for that,

Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

That said, what about transfers that seem to come out of nowhere- I'm mainly thinking random deadline day moves or signings out the blue- like Salah, Willian or Luiz returning? Is there such thing as a move out of the blue?

{Ed002's Note - I don't understand the question in the context of the thread.}

I apologise, I didn't make it very clear. What I meant was that is it common for clubs to select targets before windows, do all their scouting etc. - then shelve the plans if the transfer is impossible, only to try again on deadline day etc?

{Ed002's Note - Absolutely true but deadline day no.}
