Chelsea showed great ethos last night and dug out blind, something that under Mr AVB we was unable to do. We need to keep RDM now no matter what the cost and give him the funds to tweak the squad. We can't risk losing the fighting mentality by bringing in to many new faces, but what he can do is be clever in what he does. Personally I believe we need a new right back, but no idea as to whom it should be. I would also replace Essien with Tiote of Newcastle. And replace Kalou and Malouda with Hulk and Hiolett both would add creativity, speed and muscle to the squad. Then finally replace Drogba with Cavani if possible. All the Chelsea boys who need replacing have been great assets in the past, and some will deffentley be remembered as club legands, but it's time to say thanks for your services and move on. Let's home we win silver wear this year because they all deserve it.

Any news on any possible transfers ED? Anything changed? {Ed002's Note - Nothing of note that I can think of at this time. I mentioned that Benfica are not keen on sell Oliviera and I think that is about as recent news as there is.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed why are we interested in him, ive watched him and hes not that good {Ed002's Note - What so of answer do you expect?}

Ed are these rumours of Torres being offloaded in the summer true {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what these rumours are - Twitter is it? If he wants to leave and an acceptable bid arrives then he will be allowed to leave.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Ed002: i have read Doumbias agents interview over his clients preference to come to Chelsea in the summer. On top of that he said, that the initial talks have taken place between us and CSKA. Could you confirm this?

JG {Ed002's Note - There was an enquiry from Newcastle in January about Doumbia and it is likely if there is another English team who have actually enquired it will be Arsenal. No doubt other clubs have had scouts at games but that is some way from making any serious enquiries for the player. Doumbia does a good job of talking himself up and CSKA will likely want £25M or so for the player. Chelsea have not spoken to CSKA about him.}

Thank you much Ed.

Has Mourinho said no to the Chelsea job ED? {Ed002's Note - What Chelsea job. Chelsea have a manager and Mourinho is employed by someone else.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I mean has anyone from the club spoken to his represetatives?{Ed002's Note - I rather think that this is not a matter for discussion at this time.}

Thank you Ed. Good response to daft questions.

Ed 002 Gourlay was interviewed about the FFP situation on monday and whether RA could continue to fund transfers.He commented somewhat ambigiously -' FFP restricts in certain ways how investment can be put into the club'
Do you think that means he can fund transfers this summer if he wishes as it appears to do?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - It is a true statement and there is no hidden message. Don't worry about it.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So to be clear, would Roman be allowed under FFP, to fund this summers transfers if required?
Or would the club need to be 'creative' in some way to achieve this?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Why are you worrying about the FFP rules?}

Apart from the joy of last night,let's get back to basics,
Drogba deserves his two year contract he still has a lot to offer,I have been saying it all season.Even more so if Torres goes as the striker we may bring in might not click as quick as we hope.I am a huge Torres fan but let's face it he's had 18 months and doesn't look like he's back to his best,If we can get £35m I say sell or use as swap plus cash for cavani or falcao.Only two men out there for the managers job for me mourinho and di matteo.
Ins:
Hazard,Adam Johnson,di Maria -RW
Lavezzi,neymar -LW
Falcao,cavani -ST
Lucas moura,Modric,ganso,pastore -CAM
Richards,walker,dani alves -RB
One for each posistion would be great.
Out:
Malouda,kalou,essien,merieles,bosingwa,ferriera,Torres .
Maybe I'm just getting carried away over the great win against barca :)

One thing last night proved is that character is a massive part of why a team is successful.
Lists of talented players are 'ten a penny' but why do so few consider whether the players concerned could deliver when the going gets tough?
We have an ethos at Chelsea which is based on a team ethic and we need to protect that.
Even if that means passing on some of the most naturally talented players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would beg to differ-torres is close to his best. with a proper supply next season he would be amazing. drogba 2 years..no way..he turned up for about 3 matches this season. the rest is too speculative.

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres is nowhere near his best regettably and I wonder if ever he will be again.
Its been nearly three years since he has been consistently playing well and scoring and nothing has chaged with us save for the odd good performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with some of the opinions in these posts. Drogba has been a legend over the years. He has played out of his skin in the last few European games. But it is true that he does only turn up when he feels like it now! Shame, because he is an alround great player. Puts in good defensive displays and pulls defenders all over the place. Again though, when he wants to!

Just a thought:
Chelsea needs to consider what perceptions they are also creating amoungst those both inside and out of the club to promote the longevity of the club.

There is a lot to be said for rewarding players who have served well. If legends like drogs, terry and lamps could see out their careers with chelsea it would go a long way to creating the perception of stability and integrity.

Very few players or clubs are that lucky. Take your hat off to man united in this regard.

Yes i agree it must be viable to all parties involved. These players have far more to offer off the pitch than on it in the next seasons.

Here's to building a better club.

Ed, any idea what will happen with Modric in the summer? Saw further down the page that you don't think Chelsea will be in for him, any idea who will be, MUFC, MCFC?

rpc {Ed002's Note - Try asking on the Spurs page.}

ED002 you thought Di Matteo would not get the job on a permanent basis but after some of these great performances do you think he may be considered? Also if Chelsea do decide to bid for Hazard may they use De Bruyne in a deal?

BLUEBLOOD {Ed002's Note - Certainly he is putting himself in a position to be reconsidered. There is no connection between Hazard and de Bruyne.}

ED is it true Lille want de bruyne on loan? {Ed002's Note - Yes, they have enquired.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Do you believe we could try and turn that interest into a bargaining chip for a certain player of theirs?

Could we do a deal hazard involved with Kevin going the other way? {Ed002's Note - Kevin Hitchcock has retired now.}

VDW has publicly admitted that the Valencia move is off. I understand thatit is not a "off" which was in January, but "off" permanently. He said if no big club is after him, he will stay at Ajax for the next season (his last in Amsterdam).

Given, that Valencia is not an option, are we still monitoring the player Ed002?

JG {Ed002's Note - I have explained before that Chelsea's interest is elsewhere particularly given VDW very cleary wants to play for another club.}

Eds, round in cirlces I know - but have you heard anything re: a possible shortlist of candidates for the cfc managers role? I know you've said the club want Mourinho, just wondering if all eggs in basket.

Also, re: the budget question below - it's not the terminology of budget I'm questioning, it's the terminology of "no". Basic question is in your opinion only do you think Chelsea will invest in a sizeable squad rebuild this summer? Just as a punt, a gut instinct! {Ed002's Note - The managerial position will be resolved over the summer. "Sizable" is entirely subjective so I have no interest in trying to answer such questions.}

I dont think your answer "We are not going to go there" is unclear its the question that came before your answer which is the head scratcher

Morning ED. Do u know if we're interested in Nelson Oliveira of Benfica. I think his pure class, and in two or three years he and Lukaku could be lead the lines for the club. ELI {Ed002's Note - Nelson Oliveira has attracted interest from Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona but Benfica are reluctant to sell this summer.}
