Eds any updates regarding pogba?
Is cuadrado to juve a loan deal?
Are the club looking to varane again as Everton are standing firm regarding stones?

{Ed018's Note - no, yes, and I believe so}

Hi Ed, if Pogba has been identified as the player we need to improve the midfield, I'd imagine we have alternatives if the deal doesn't happen, IMO we are lacking in the middle, is there any other targets should Pogba not happen?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed018's Note - it's been mentioned that they have alternatives but I'm not sure who as of right now}

Is there any update on the Pogba deal Ed018? Mixed reports in the media. Really hoping we can get this through.

{Ed018's Note - I'm not sure, I haven't heard anything today}

I do not wish we pay €120m for Pogba. We could 3 good players for that amount. Our scouts only need to work better.

I'd rather spend it on pogba. Mouthwatering midfield of pogba, matic, fabregas. It has everything. Hazard costa pedro in front.

Witsel is only alternative that makes sense. Pogba would be absolutely the best long-term signing.

In today's market you have to pay top dollar for a player of pogbas quality. He has everything you want in a midfield player. He could be a very valuable asset to the club in both financial and football terms. He is still young so let's say with player prices going higher and higher we purchased him at £80m then he plays 3 seasons and real or barca come calling(like they do) and he wants to leave, then given his age you could still probably get back what the club paid for him. Obviously I would not wish for him to move on if purchased but real and barca have a power over the rest of world football we can only dream of. It's a long shot but pogba is the best young midfielder out there and for us to have two of the worlds best youngsters in hazard and possibly pogba, that would be amazing.

Pogba is still very young and will certainly prove a lot as I still believe he isn't near the finished article; but in a market where St£rling is worth 49m and stones 35m and an 18 year old Patrick Roberts with 2 prem appearances worth 18m then pogba is worth a whole lot more. People need to remember that just like stones and st£rling pogbas price tag is based on potential.

Guys I actually think that if Pogba is not feasible we should consider Koke as an immediate resolutn, at least 75% of the evaluation can be put into him, with can get the ability of a matic and a Fabregas from on player. also we end up geting a good freekick taker aswell

My Suggestion would be that we chase Pogba till like friday and if its not possible we offer Ramires to Athletico with 40m and let's see if they won't accept the deal

Is Gomez and Koke the back ups

Chelsea are on the verge of bidding £36m but . It seems that we have now accepted that it is unlikely that Everton will let Stones go and have switched attention to Varane. If successful I believe that this may be a blessing in disguise as the only thing that Stones has over Varane is his nationality.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Exactly. Though I really can't see Benitez allowing Varane to leave.

I have to disagree, Varane has not played well for sometime whereas Stones is improving game on game. Regarding a previous post of yours Mrs Costa, could Varane handle Tommy Langley? Probably not as that legend scored 43 goals in 139 appearances only bettered by Diego Costa in the current Chelsea team! Thanks as it did make me laugh.

Agree with Jackson. If stones isn't English he would barely be a blip on the radar. Slating varane for being inconsistent is short sited as he's been in and out of the team since mourinho left. He looked awesome against Juve.

Varane is class. Prefect for the present and future. Stones would be a good option with real potential but Varane is ten years of first team for me.

He might've had an inconsistent season last year, but I'm pretty sure he'd return to his excellent form under Mourinho.

I think Thomas kalas could have done a job for us. He was fantastic in that game v Liverpool. Shame we so swiftly send youngsters on loan. Him and zouma could form a great partnership. Strong, quick. Passes from the back exceptionally well, reads the game well. What else do you ask of a young player.

Benitez will not sell Varane to Mourinho.
If you have watched Stones lately you would understand why Mourinho wants him at Chelsea so much.
Chelsea is getting better from week to week.
Last two seasons we struggled with fitness in last 2-3 weeks of a season. That's the reason why Mourinho started this season slower.

I certainly hope we turn our attentions back to Varane. Real are looking to sell players to fund transfer business, and the fact we were so close in January shows a deal can be done for the right money. The sums being mooted for Stones are inflated to say the least and Varane is a much better player right now, has competed in much bigger matches in Europe, and is more a Mourinho type player. Varane and Zouma could be centre-back pairing for both us and France for over 10 years!

Benitez has pretty much no say of the comings ang goings at Madrid. So he won't have a choice, if the board agrees a fee.

Just one name Andrey Shevchenko, so much about Mourinho's independence.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure what Mourinho's independence 10 years ago has to do with Benitez not having a say in transfers.

If you were as smart as you though Antibot, you'd know we are run very similarly to RM. So no, Jose doesn't have all the imput. We also have a group that makes decisions on who will be bought and sold. Jose is just one link in the chain.

He may target some players, which the club follow up on, but the club also targets their own. This has been going on fir quite a while now.

But fuser is 100%. You talking rubbish (again) about Rafa not allowing the deal, has nothing to do with what happened with Shev almost a decade ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2015 19:22:52
You're underestimating role of head coach at RM.Also there are no signs that RM as a club has any intention to sell Varane. Seems that Mourinho's hands were tied up this summer due to his transfer decisions in last two years, so he is now treated as head coach in some of European teams.
Melbourne better look for help, it seems that you really have a problem. Anger management?

Antibot, Real Madrid pretty much agreed to sell us Varane in January but we weren't able to finalise the deal. Not sure why JM's hands would be tied up after the last 2 years of transfers. Off the top of my head only Cuadrado, Salah and Luis have been duds for us. For the most part, our transfers have been great. If his hands were tied then it's down to the fact that we won last year at a canter, and it was felt that we should be strong enough to challenge again this year. Nothing to do with JM's transfers.

Antibot, I don't have to be angry to know that you're a numptie. It is worrying/hilarious that you suggest someone else needs help though!

Hi eds
Do you think that the cuadrado loan has anything to do with pogba? Also I was wondering what was going on with stones as everyone has seemed to stop talking about him and talking about pogba (understandably).
Thanks in advance and great work ed18 you have been truly terrific over the past week or so!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I doubt Cuadrado has anything to do with a deal for Pogba. I'd expect another bid for Stones at some point. It's pretty clear Chelsea can use another center back}
