ED with the seemingly immenent arrival of sergio aguero to city and tevez perhaps not departing as was originally thought and eden dzeko already present from january and jo acting as sufficient cover (am i right in thinking he is still at the club?) would balotelli be an option given his age and clear world beating potential he has the height, strength, pace, skill and flair to light up our attack hese the type of player that could change a game ... also not too long ago his agent said that manchester city were merely a steppping stone in the strikers career and that he would be going to the likes of real madrid barcelona or CHELSEA .. thanks for your time {Ed002's Note - I understand Jo is leaving. None of them are options.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I'm sure Balotelli has potential, but if Jose couldnt get it out of him I dont think anybody can, he's just an emptyhead.

ed not too long ago aguero stated than london would be a nice place to live ... do you know if tevez and aguero are close and if so tevez may have a word in the ear of aguero ... kun is a player we have been looking at for some time now where as city dont really seem to scout players but instead act like some kind of fantasy football game and go after other clubs targets that said is aguero the type of player that will move to further his career or merely money motivated? {Ed002's Note - It does not really work that way.}

Heyyyyy Ed, firstly whats chelsea's stance on Hulk, are they interested? what would be his probable sale price? Does AVB want him. secondly if we get Pastore does that mean the likes of Hulk and Lukaku wont arrive or is there the money there to spend? thanks {Ed002's Note - THere is money to be spent but Hulk seems unlikely at this time.}

23 Jul 2011 22:25:37
Hey Ed, i know this probably has been asked before but is there any interest in Giuseppe Rossi? Villareal and Rossi's agent seem to be touting him around trying to find a buyer and Juventus seem to be the only interested party. This guy would be a fantastic addition as he is a versatile forward like Aguero and Neymar and considerably cheaper and easier to get as he wants a big step up and money doesnt seem to be an issue. {Ed018's Note - theres no interest in Rossi at thbis time}

When Gourlay said that 2 signings should be completed in the next 10 days, I'm guessing 1 was Romeu? and the other may be Lukaku or possibly Pastore if we're lucky? let's just hope it's not another youth prospect and a world class improvement to our current squad.

With city looking like there about to sign aguero are we going to be speaking to him also.Secondly are we still looking at falcao even though he signed a new contract.what is our problem regarding transfers, we always leave it till the last minute.Other teams around us have strengthened well and we are lagging behind.we will be lucky to come in top four this season with the players we have plus a Barcelona b player {Ed002's Note - Chelsea's position on a package for Aguero was put on teh table more than a month ago. Chelsea are not in the position to make a cash offer to match that of Manchester City. There may yet be a twist but only time will tell.}

Hi Ed, what are your views on Josh McEachran and Lucas Piazon? Both seem excellent on the ball and have a real class and vision about there game. Ive been watching alot of videos of them and they seem to be the future for chelsea in the heart of midfield. Just wondering what your opinions on these 2 talented players are. Also what are your thought of Javier Pastore as a attacking midfielder and does he have the potential and hype that people around him are saying. Thanks {Ed002's Note - I know little of either of the players aside from their undoubted talents. Pastore remains a target as the long term replacement for Lampard. I understand that he is not too keen on a move to England but nothing is ruled out.}

Don't think Modric or Lukaku are worth the figures that have been reported. Need to concentrate on Pastore and a proven striker not a kid who would be an easy pray for the defenses of the big teams.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Easy prey? Are you kidding, have you seen Lukaku? He is bigger than Drogba? The defences of the prem would be easy prey fo him {Ed018's Note - there is certainly alot of potential with Lukaku, he'd be a good buy}

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric not worth that money yet some fella who played in the Italian league which is no where near as good as the prem and you want chelsea to spend 50 million on an unproven player if pastore is so good why doesnt he play for Argentina but modric is a proven player in the prem and is top class and lukaku has great potential

Ed002 does the package for Oriol Romeu include any buy back back clause and if it does do Barcelona often do this in order to avoid a repeat of the fabregas situation? {Ed002's Note - I don't know the provisions of the contract - sorry.}

23 Jul 2011 17:40:25
hey ed002, any intrest in mata he seems pretty cheap for his level of talent and potential, i think he would be an amazing pick up for chelsea {Ed002's Note - There certainly has been varying degrees of interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City,Arsenal and Spurs in Juan Mata, and Valencia are preparing for next season without the player. I thought Barcelona may well also become interested at some point and offer player exchange for David Villa if they signed Alexis Sanchez - although this seems less likely at present. Manchester City were reportedly heading the queue but had an offer rejected and Arsenal appear to be preparing an offer now. It would not be entirely out of the question that Liverpool, Chelsea or even Manchester United could push for the player and make a concerted effort to match any other offer.}

I know this guy is good but come on, i see this question asked every week.

Evaluation of the Chelsea team as I type...

GK) Cech is the obvious first choice GK, Hilario and Turnbull will stick around for the season as backup. Courtois going on loan to Atletico Madrid is a good move, hopefully he will be first choice at a competitive European team and come back a stronger player.

RB) Ivanovic is first choice at the moment and due to his defensive abilities I believe he will start most of big matches against teams of higher quality. Bosingwa will remain at the club and play his part as the attacking full back when required; there is a small part of me that expects him to flourish under Villas-Boas.

CB) David Luiz and Terry will be the first choice and start most games if fit, Ivanovic will serve as very good cover for the position. If Alex stays he is also a more than suitable replacement, should he go I would expect to see a move for Rolando or Cahill; I d be happy with either player. Lets not forget the return of Sam Hutchinson and emergence of Nathaniel Chalobah either.

LB) Cole starts every game if fit, still one of the best in the world; one of either Van Aanholt or Bertrand to go to a club on loan (preferably a Premiership club) the other to act as cover. Zhirkov should be sold during this window; it just hasn t worked out for him at Chelsea.

CM) Essien is out for six month and I don t see the Romeu signing as a replacement; I expect either Parker to sign for the club (on loan or permanently) or Villas-Boas to put his faith in Obi Mikel for the six months when a holding player is required in Essiens absence. Most of the time I expect Ramires and Lampard to start with a playmaker in front of them, there should be no further interest in Modric after the rejection of 35mil; the playmaker will be Pastore who will sign from Palermo. McEachran will continue to backup the starting players and will hopefully get more on pitch mins than last season.

RW/RF) Message to the Chelsea board/management WE NEED A NEW RIGHT WINGER/FORWARD Most Chelsea fans can see that a new right sided attacker is a priority; Sanchez would have been ideal but we have missed out on him. Sturridge can play off the right of a front three but he is a striker not a forward. I have no idea where this player may come from; I like Jesus Navas and Adam Johnson but don t know of their availability; Ed s any idea?

LW/LF) Message to the Chelsea board/management WE NEED A NEW LEFT WINGER/FORWARD Left wing is another priority, Kakuta needs to push on this season and play a more prominent role; if not now then when? Everyone seems to want Malouda to be sold but he is happy at the club and will not move on, he was our top Premiership goal scorer last season and is still a good squad player; just not first choice. Juan Mata would be my first choice left winger in the current market.

ST) Torres, Drogba and Sturridge will all remain and will be vying for the striker position; Anelka and Kalou to leave. Another young striker will be brought to the club; we haven t heard the last of the Lukaku saga.

So new signings I expect to be completed are Parker and Pastore along with a new centre back (should Alex depart), two new wingers (one left one right) and a new striker.

Don t panic there is a long way to go for Chelsea in this transfer window {Ed002's Note - No chance of Nevas.}

Believable10 Unbelievable8

I love you

Agree0 Disagree0

Best post in days.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't like to see Malouda sticking around if he wasn't gettin a game, he would only unsettle the dressing room. I like Adam johnson, but not Jesus Navas

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the person who wrote the original post. If another left winger is signed and Villas-Boas is impressed by Kakuta, you may be right Malouda may be forced to move on (PSG a likly option). I think the main thing Chelsea should look for in wide players (and the most import thing in modern attacking football) is the ability to switch wings (like Duff and Robben); Nani is the best in the Premiership when it comes to this but even if he was available Man Utd would never sell him to us. Adam Johnson and Juan Mata would be perfect at this as both can start on either wing. It should be noted that Villas-Boas likes his wide player to have the abbility to cut inside; training has been directed towards this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kind of a predictable post. You've basically stated the obvious; the same drivel that's been posted at this website for weeks.

But my real beef with that post - who cares if Malouda is happy at the club? That shouldn't dictate gaining a spot. I'd be happy at the club - should I be a Chelsea player too? Leading Prem. scorer on the team, what a laugh. You failed to mention that he got most of those goals at the beginning of the season when we were crushing the bottom feeders. Name one time that he scored a meaningful goal against a top side, let alone created one. The guy is useless. Even Kalou is better than him.

And good luck with him not starting and being a "squad player". He would be whingeing every day to French reporters. Remember him throwing Lampard under the bus a few seasons ago? Expect more of that. He's poisonous and proves that you can't allow too much player power.

I say keep Zhirkov and lose Malouda. He's better than Slo-Mo. and at least Yuri can play more than one position

Is the right wing a priority strengthening position this summer Ed?because the need for width is evident. {Ed018's Note - if AVB decides to continue to play a 4-3-3, then i believe wings are a priority}

Ed are Chelsea interested in Ibrahim Afellay?thanks {Ed002's Note - No.}

He is a good out and out winger and would represent good value in the quoted 4 million being reported.Do you see any chance Chelsea could make a move for him Ed? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Eds you need to relax a little bit. Nobody is going to hold you accountable for making a wrong prediction or a guess because this is what we ask; a prediction, a rumour, a guess. You don't have to keep repeating "it is impossible to guess ..". Otherwise, what is the enjoyment in doing this? The title of this website is "Chelsea Rumours" and not "Chelsea Transfers that will happen" {Ed018's Note - fair enough, but some things i dont like guessing on}

23 Jul 2011 14:22:58
Ed is it going to be either Pastore or Modric or it could be both? {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of any deal for Modric. The Pastore situation remains the same. Chelsea put an offer on the table and it is being considered. It is impossible to guess what will happen next, but suspect Chelsea are in a strong position for Pastore.}

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Glad to hear that because he would be a good addition. Let's keep our fingers crossed

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed every time you have commented on this modric situation you say you know nothing of any bids. is this because our decision makers are keeping everything quiet. i'm pretty sceptical at as to how much they want him. {Ed002's Note - It is simply I know nothing about it.}

Why don't we move for Charles n'zogbia? He'd be a decent squad player, is available for 10 million and would count as a home grown player.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I have said before, we should sign n'zogbia very good proven prem winger who would not cost a fortune, come on blues let's get him signed up.

Agree0 Disagree0

N'zogbia would be a great signing, a natural winger and only at 10m i think he would make the starting 11. I would rather a sensible signing than a big marquee flop

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 13:38:22
no marquee siginigs so far for chelsea
we have lost neymar, falco, sanchez already
drogba seems to be staying again
essien out for 6 months
we have signed some barca reserve as his replacement
a new goalkeeper signed, but sent to loan
chelsea still haven't sold any of their bench warmers
no head way in modric deal
no push for pastore
lukakau interest also declinedwhere we are going for 3rd/4th place

any thoughts from 002/018...

KINGS XI CHELSEA {Ed002's Note - None from me.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Yes there is no doubt we will be fighting for UEFA spot next year if no major signings happen. This is common sense. People say we are only half way in the transfer window. Well by the time we decide to go to the market seriously, we will be six points behind MU, MC, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

We havnt lost Neymar yet, or Falcao. Oriol is a very talented young midfielder, he has played through all the Spanish youth teams and is highly regarded, i personally am very excited to have him at the club. No big signings or big exits but there is a lot of time left, and AVB has only just come in, do you really expect him to make huge moves without knowing the team, i really think you need to chill out Oh and do you really want Modric so much that you want us to pay more than 35mill for him, for me he isnt worth it at all

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 13:02:49
Well done to Ron for coming out and giving us some hope. That's what we wanted to hear. The commitment is there to strengthen the team.

Ed002 with Ron Gourlay's comments of 2 players in 10 days 1 will be Romeu and with Palermo's chief saying a deal should be concluded for Pastore within the next 10 days is it just a coincidence or something behind it? {Ed002's Note - As I have said repeatedly, I really would not grab a hold of everything you read and hear and believe it to be true. I would also not try and figure out any hidden meanings in any of these statement.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It will be lukaku

I am puzzeld with this team assessment saga. Isn't there any continuation from Carlo? Does AVB have to start from zero? Surely Carlo kept notes of what it needs to be done like each one of us knows very well from watching the team only never mind coaching it. It is a complete joke and I am already loosing faith on AVB.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Keep notes? Are you insane, AVB is coming in as a new coach, his tactics are different, how the players respond will be different, the coaching team is different etc etc etc. Why would he make lots of rash decisions based on last season, he is an autonomous individual he can make his own assesments in his own time. its not even the end of July and you have written him off, you really need to rethink your views, they are very odd. Oh and not to mention how long it takes to finalise the big deals, Sanchez has only just moved despite everyone knowing he was moving to Barca weeks ago, and Cesc has been saying for more than a year that he wants to move and he is still waitng, as you should.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's get behind avb, i am very happy we appointed him he know's what he is doing, signing's will happen very soon he has got plan's im sure to strengthen the team in the right place's, give him a chance first i'm saying

Agree0 Disagree0

If Roman wanted continuation from Carlo he would not have sacked him I'd imagine. I have been visiting this site for a while now and this the most baffling post I've read. Sorry dude {Ed002's Note - The decision was made that CA would be leaving at the very end of December 2010.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I know said the CA decision was made back in Dec I wasn't disputing that. Maybe sacked was the wrong word to use, it could have been a mutual decision I don't know and its not really important. My point is you can't expect continuation from the new manager, why would he come and do the same things that seen us struggle last year, does he think CA kept a diary for the next manager, and AVB will be far from a joke, how could he be losing faith in him when he's hardly been in the job long enough to make a decision, I would prefer he took his time, assessed his squad and bought the right players for the positions we are lacking in. Or we could just randomly buy every player that becomes available, whether we need them or not, like Man City do.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 11:34:20
ed gourlay saying we will sign at least 2 plauers in next 8-10 days who is it lukaku, modric, pastore
seems to fit in with the timeline zamparini quoted 4 pastore 2 b done

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Are you sure he didn't mean those teenagers whose names escape me we signed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well he said we would sign 2 NEW players in the next 10 days. As we have already signed Etock and Courtois, I would assume the 2 signings would be Romeu from Barcelona and one other (possibly Lukaku, hopefully Pastore).

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 11:31:02
Why are people reading into Villas-Baos striker comments have you all forgotten in january when we had made a 25 million bid for torres that got rejected and in a following interview carlo said that he did not need another striker hmmmm?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yes but the difference is that Carlo was right then. We didn't need a striker mid-season. But Carlo knew that come the end of the season the team would need radical changes.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's because he was an Abramovich signing not Carlos

hulk and pastore and our team is complete in my opinion

pastore is still a realistic option however with hulks huge buy out clause he may not be a target he has said though that he is focused on porto but has hinted that he would be open to a move
"I believe that it is not easy to pay my release clause. But if any club is able, it is Chelsea. If Abramovich arrives with the money, this is positive for the club"

That said £89.5m is way too much for someone who is unproven in premier league, and hasnt really set the champions league alight when ive seen him playing there although something in the region of his release clause may force portos hand we could end the on going modric saga as 35m is a staggering amount of money for modric, whom tottenham should be happy to make double the money for the fee they signed him for, then add that to say 35-40 that we may have bid for someone of hulks calibre anyway and we may get our man.

What are your thoughts on tevez? i see people here making a big fuss and wanting him to come to chelsea and i honestly don't know why. I thought he was rather home sick and wanted to move out of the country but apparently some people here think chelsea have a real shot at getting him....

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I don't think it is simply a case of him being home seek. If that was the case he wouldn't consider going to Italy. I think he dosn't like the atmosphere in MC. So yes, in my opinion, it is worth going for him.
