Silva to Chelsea is almost done according to David Ornstein whos generally reliable.

He'll probably have 2 weeks holiday before he joins up with the squad.

Thought he was alright tonight but was partly at fault for the goal. Ran out of position to intercept the ball, missed and then didn't get back into position leaving Kehrer having to mark two players. I really don't think he's going to be as good as what people are saying but i'd love to be proved wrong.

He played really well tonight despite being on the losing side. He will be a very important player for us and makes it into our team on ability and experience is a bonus.

Lol. Bayern put up how many against us and they scored 1 tonight. I’m not saying he’s prime Silva but you can’t tell me we have anyone capable of tying his shoes.

Silva was playing on the right side of a back 3 - I'd be worried about him coping in a back 4.

He played in a back 4 last night I thought.

Silva will be a great addition to the squad, for his experience and leadership qualities as much as anything on the pitch. He looks in good shape for his age, had a good game last night.

Was obviously watching him closely last night and was very impressed by Silva's performance against top of the class opposition. Will like other new acquisitions of course be a matter of how he well and quickly he adapts to London and New team mates but think he could be a very clever and timely addition in terms of experience, leadership and considerable abilities even if soon 36.

I have been told by someone who I consider to be a reliable source that Thiago Silva will not be joining us - he will remain at PSG for another season.

PSG have come out and confirmed it his last game. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Whether we're actually in for Thiago Silva or not, it will be very interesting to see how he performs in tonight Champions League final.

We'll all see if he's up to the task or not after facing that Bayern attack!

Is your friend more reliable than Fabrizo Romano?

just said thiago will be leaving whether they win or lose. Definitely his last match for PSG.

Ed002’s load down on Malang Sarr on Serie A page:
* Malang Sarr (CB/ LB) has held talks with Real Betis, Chelsea, and Bayer Leverkusen about a move and Borussia Mönchengladbach, Barcelona, Arsenal, Fiorentina and Atalanta have all declared an interest. The player was very keen on joining RB Leipzig who held discussions and had him as an option to replace Dayot Upamecano but they can now be discounted. He is one of the economically better options identified by Barcelona who want talks with his agent and his agent wants talks with Leicester. The player wants guarantees of playing time and right now it is unclear if he can step up as a CB to play at a higher level, as Nice have used him more as a LB more often than not.

Thanks for posting that I can't see why we would be looking to sign him unless Alonso was to move on or we wanted sell one of CB to generate some cash for other signings.

Assuming we get Chilwell too, sell both Alonso and Emerson and bring in Sarr on top of Chilwell to play left back? Also seems to have an ideal profile to play LCB in a 3 man defense, which would add some flexibility for Lampard to work with.

In all honesty, if I'm Sarr I wouldn't join Chelsea. He could probably join a side that will give him more playing time.

CHELSEA IN SARR TALKS

Chelsea are in talks to sign France U21 centre back Malang Sarr.

The 21-year-old is a free agent after his Nice contract ran out this summer.

If we sign him I think he will go out on loan.

I think this may be more of a money maker rather than wanting the player. (excuse if I'm wrong)

{Ed001's Note - he is an excellent player mate, he would be perfect for the left side of your defence.}

23 Aug 2020 08:10:42
o really. not seen him play to be honest. Just seen rumours on Sky.
Maybe loaning him for a year then.

I thought it may be a Hector/ Papy Djilobodji type signing. More loans rather than first team appearances.

Thanks for input Ed 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would have liked Liverpool to pick him up before they got Tsimikas as he can also play left-back to a very high level.}

23 Aug 2020 08:14:17
nice! :)
Let's hope we don't just keep loaning him out and give the boy a chance.
Cheers Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he looks good enough to be in the team mate. It is not like you have a surfeit of left-footed centre-back options either!}

23 Aug 2020 08:51:43
The legend of the left footed centre back, only whispered on the terraces of Stamford Bridge.

Never seen him play, but he does sound like the perfect addition from your description Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he will probably need time to settle in to England etc but he looks to be exactly that for the long term.}

23 Aug 2020 09:38:26
I stand corrected Ed001; I feel the club really wants to freshen things up in the central defence department but it’s clear that most Chelsea’s CB target (s) won’t be available in this window and the inability of the club to sell or get decent price (s) for the CBS at the club is making the club look to certain free transfer targets (Thiago Silva, now Malang Sarr) for the defence. I remember Chelsea was interested in signing him some years back (heard a lot of good things about him then about him, I wonder what changed? )
Someone told me that Thiago Silva will be staying at PSG, perhaps the reason for this link to Malang Sarr?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2020 08:20:58
be a shame to send him out of loan.
Ed002 will this be the case or just rumours?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not the one to ask about the defence.}

23 Aug 2020 10:50:38
Unfortunately we can only play 11 players at once and have just 18 in a match day squad. It’s good to see Chelsea having a clear long term strategy. It’s even more critical with the youth players now having a path to the first team.

23 Aug 2020 11:09:57
He won't come to Chelsea to be loaned out he's too good for that. And we have only just signed a young CB so I am not sure the rumour makes a lot of sense.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Aug 2020 11:30:53
You are right Turkey; he won’t come to Chelsea to be loaned out when- not when he has some other good offers esp from Germany.

Hope your right mate. Players should always be given a chance.
Arsenal keeper Martinez wasn't deemed any gd but now looks superb after a run of games. Players need time and not judged on one game or you tube.

If Malang Sarr can play left back to a high level and centre back maybe Chelsea can sell Alonso, Emerson, loan out Tomori and bring in Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell.
