AVB clearly did not get the player's he wanted in the summer im sure he wanted Fernando of Porto and Perreira Modric he got Mata but instead of the player's he wanted he got Meireles Lakaku and now KDB in the summer will he be allowed to have some player's he wants ED002? or will other people also have a say for this so called 'Project'

BLUEBLOOD {Ed002's Note - Nothing will be his decision alone I doubt - although he pushed for Meeireles. Fernando was a target previously.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

It's unbelievable that he pushed for Mereiles. If thats his choice I hope other people at the club have more of a say

EDS unsure on how this works but I'll give it a try:
Expenditure must not exceed income.
Do you roughly know how much a club of Chelsea's stature would generate and spend in a season.what I'm trying to say is how much will there be to spend in the summer because only 7 players out of a squad of 20 is worth keeping.I think we must keep AVB and not replace him with Jose.Jose is a great manager but if you look at facts everywhere he's been he has inherited great teams already and touched lucky winning champions league with Porto.If we hadn't messed up in Monaco we would of won it that year.There is no doubt we are in trouble at the moment but if we can get fourth spot and move a couple of players on in the summer plus bringing in 3-4 top quality players I think that would be a great start.Let's not forget we have a very talented bunch of 18 year olds waiting to come through,do exciting times do lie ahead.We just need to all pull in the same direction and get behind the management and squad.But I see getting fourth spot as being vital to our future. {Ed002's Note - I would not worry about the FFP rules just yet. They are much more complicated than perhaps you realise.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Club's annual reports are public information, you can buy them for a couple of pounds from companies house (.gov.uk), unless you know an accountant in which case theyd have the access. josh

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho wasn't in charge when we played Monaco in the CL. That was 03/04 season under Ranieri and Mourinho took charge at the beginning of 04/05 season.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, what he is saying is that mourinho wouldnt have won the cl that season with porto if we had've beat monaco in the semi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your deluded if think AVB is a better manager than The Special 1 and your comments that he got lucky winning the champions league and saying he inherited all his teams, if that's the case it goes for all our managers since we started winning trophies!
Get a grip of yourself, AVB is clueless in his tactics , team selection and his man management of the senior players!

Any chance of Chelsea being intrested in hulk again ed?
Thnks! {Ed002's Note - I have no idea, but it seems unlikely to me.}

players who chelsea should buy
bastos 20million[good full back]
falcao 35million
willian 25million

players out
malouda,mikel,kalou,fereira,torres,bosingwa,ivanovic

Believable1 Unbelievable18

Ivanovic is a top class defender who rarely puts in a bad shift, selling him would be a joke and as for Torres if he gets better service everyone's current opinion would change

Agree0 Disagree0

Get in willian and get rid Torres and ivanovic, no way

Agree0 Disagree0

Why willian hes 23ish doesnt score many doesnt assist many seems a waste of a winger to me would rather play kakuta

Agree0 Disagree0

Get rid of ivanovic! You've got to be kidding me! He is one of 3 players who have played well this season, except the one fairly poor performance against Napoli.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ivanovic is good why get rid of him

Ed what do you think best possible 11 for rest of the season.. And when will the new manager come in {Ed002's Note - I am afraid I have no interest in guessing teams, and what new manager are you referring to?}

So our team looks like the summer cant come quick enough, this summer is definately going to be one of transition and alot of players coming in and out of the football club.

I think the thing we lack atm the most are ball carriers, we have alot of sideways and backwards passing because we dont have the wingers or midfielders that can actually carry a ball or beat a few players, this leads to our slow and robotic build up play.

We need in my opinion 2 new midfielders, 1 CM and one CAM, we need skillful and technically gifted players who can combine dribbling skills with passing skills and who can be the main distributors of the ball and set up our attacks.

My 2 summer targets would be Thiago Alacantara and Mario Goetze, they both bring something completely new to Chelsea and fit the mould of football AVB is wanting Chelsea to play. Slick feet, passing ability and have the ability to beat a man and play a killer pass.

We desperately need a world class winger, with Eden Hazards interviews of late his attitude that was questioned seems childish and irresponsible, thus our attention should be turned to our long term target Angel Di Maria, hes quick, skillfull, contributes a bunch of assists and scores goals.

Lastly we need a Striker who is going to score goals, we the new midfield i suggested i think Torres would but i personally think for all parties involved a new change of scenary is probably best. This leaves Edinson Cavani, hes quick, powerful, can head, finish and has skills, he would bring to Chelsea what Drogba did 5 years ago just more polished and with Champions League experience.

An expensive wishlist but one that is possible and probably needed.

Thiago has always been one of my favourite players however I fear we missed the boat on him....we should have made a big effort to get him prior to last summers U21 tournament. He's just what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need at LEAST 2 wingers mate, as we will have NONE when Malouda and Kalou leave in summer!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree but i didnt want to put a listy where we spend nearly 200m or so if you get me. I think it could be good business to try and get Junior Hoilett, young, home grown player, quick and good dribbling skills, plus i dont think he would be a locker room distraction if he didnt start every game. Plus could sign for a Free in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Edison Cavani would cost £40 -50m. He is not that quick as your making him out to be and not that skillful either. His team create him chances and he puts them away ( he is a good finisher and an excellent player). He played well against Chelsea but he could of scored a few more had he taken his chances, the difference was that he had chances to miss. Chelsea did not create a chane for Drogba. I feel sorry for both Torres & Drogba as they do not get the service ( Drogba scored 3 at the ACN and all of a sudden can barely get a touch of the ball) Torres will shine in a team that can actually create a few chances for him a a game

Good to see Chelsea are at last sticking with a manager... just a shame it’s not one of the good ones...

Some thoughts... Take note AVB:
1. We need a true holding midfielder to screen our back 4 for the full 90 minutes. That has to be Oriol, Mikel or perhaps Essien. Mereiles is not good enough in that role. Ramires would be wasted there.
2. Substitutions. Our best performers need to run out the 90 more often (Mata, Sturridge, Lampard).
3. Youth. I think most fans would like to see the lads have a run off the bench. Bertrand, Lukaku, Chalobah, Piazon etc are all worth some time (I still can't believe McEachran was so short on game time when Mereiles gets a game most weeks!? What a criminal waste of talent!).

One last thing that puzzles me; if AVB was hired to overhaul our squad, why has he waited so long to do it? There was an opportunity to buy and sell in the summer and again in January. I wouldn’t define either window as particularly busy. If he survives, will he make the big calls this summer?

Thoughts are welcome.

Believable13 Unbelievable2

AVB probably decided to see how much he could take out of the existing squad but he has invested significantly in youth. Next season AVB or the new manager will have Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtouis McEachran back with some valuable experience and this might be useful. De Bruyne is just the player we are lacking now and Cech is almost past it and so Thibaut should be ready to stand in. In the summer I still expect significant investment in proven talent (De Bruyne and Courtouis) are along those lines. AVB should stay because Roman's trackrecord shows that if he wanted AVB out, he would have been sacked after the Napoli game immediately. {Ed002's Note - The plan at present is that neither Courtouis nor De Bruyne will be at Chelsea next season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

AVB was hired way too late in the summer to be able to make an impact with overhauling the swuad (bearing in mind the tour of Asia too). January is never a good time to try and make the amount of changes needed (they will come this summer). With regards to the holding midfielder, that statement would make sense had we not played a a 4-2-3-1 formation last night...no space for a holding midfielder until later on when we switched to the usual formation.

Agree0 Disagree0

The rules with chelsea fans tend to be, whoever isn't playing becomes a god over night without even kicking a ball. Lampard hasn't been our top performer, Ramires, Mata and Sturridge have been by a long way. Most football managers will tell you it isn't a good idea to blood youngsters when a team is stuck in a rut, so Chalobah and Piaozon is out of the question, we are likely to do more harm than good if we did. Lukaku has looked ok til it came to kicking a ball, truth be told, he's a poor buy from Chelsea yet again. Bertrand - what performances are you basing on that he should start ahead of the season pros, i've followed him closely and all i can say is he's an ok player, will he be able to hold down a starting berth at a club like Chelsea? I really doubt it.

Agree0 Disagree0

All Chelsea actually needs is a good coach, the last manager was Jose.

I don't believe for a minute that the coach has enough weight alone to bring in any players. All the players that have been arriving have been scouted prior to their purchases, AVB is only in charge of either playing them, or not, which be has done. As has been pointed out, none of the coaches have been confident enough to play youth and none have been able to build relationships with the older players as they are not around long enough. There's also no manager / player respect as none of these players are bought by the coaches. The key is consistency and a manager who is allowed to manager the players. Jose walked when he was undermined, what has happened since then? This is the very reason it's going to be difficult for experienced players to want a move to the bridge, there's too much at steak for them.

Im Guessing Ashley Cole was the player who questioned AVB's tactics then ed002? {Ed002's Note - You are worrying too much about an open and frank discussion. The reason Cole did not start was because he is coming back from injury.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Pretty impressive that he played 78 mins, while thrown in at the deep end and made a very good clearance off the line and ran his ass off for those 78 mins, he is one if not the best left back in the world....just saying........

Agree0 Disagree0

Shame he's Mensa be attacking and muffin for us his crossing is s**t his passing is slow and he runs in to marked areas

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute rubbish did Cole not play because he was coming back from injury, he trained well the night before and was quite frankly not far off 100% fit (thats only if he wasn't actually 100%). Even if he was coming back from injury, Graeme Souness hit the nail on the head when he said a 90% fit Asley Cole is better than 100% Bosingwa being played out of position. Even my mum would know that! {Ed002's Note - Would she know why he needed the mediacal at lunchtime as well?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha, no she probably didn't. But even if he hadn't have needed a medical at lunchtime to prove his fitness I doubt he would have started. That's just putting a smoke sceen over the real issues that are surrounding the morale of the dressing room and coaching staff which is obviously affecting team selelctions, performances and ultimately results. I do feel for AVB and I hope we don't sack him but he has created his own downfall in his handling of big players. Also Meireles had a stinker last nite, absolutely pathetic! {Ed002's Note - Last night was Ramires' worst game - want him out as well?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I didn't say I wanted Meireles out or that I would like anyone out for that fact, it was merely an observational comment in relation to last nights game. He won't feature in the return fixture anyway as he is suspended. As for Ramires, yes it wasn't his best either I have to agree, but we'll see if AVB has learned any lessons from it because if he does, there still is hope!

Come on ED002 tell us if AVB is in danger of being sacked? {Ed002's Note - There is little point in speculating. As has been explained in the past, the club would like to make a change or two to the management and coaching structure at some point. But it will require the right person or people to be available.}

21 Feb 2012 22:26:12
Was AVB telling the truth ED002? that even if Napoli knocked us out it would have no impact on him being sacked? {Ed002's Note - As I have said on numerous occasions, I would skip right over anything he says to the press.}
