Hi Ed
There is a high chance that Meireles and Essien leave Chelsea according to you, but it seems Chelsea are not considering any replacement. Do you think we will sign a CM or CDM this transfer window? {Ed018's Note - i doubt and i don't expect both of them to leave|

Eds can you clear up the hulk situation?
Does the offer still stand as we are now pursuing Oscar and cavani. Is it possible for all 3 plus a RB.I know I'm being gready but what a squad if all these transfers can be pulled off!

NWBLUE {Ed018's Note - i expect Oscar will sign, but i can't see both Hulk and Cavani}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I personally would prefer cavani over hulk.

Ed, gone quiet regarding Oscar, anything note worthy to report ?? {Ed018's Note -not at the moment}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

It's gone quiet because the deal is pretty much done and nothing will be announced until after the Olympics in my opinion. Maybe sooner. Nobody has denied his medical so it's as good as done.

Hi Eds- a collegue keeps telling me that Moura has something in his contract that entitles the PLAYER to some 20-30% of any transfer fee to the club this is what he sent me- (Sao Paolo want £23.5m for themselves and some £6m for the player under a contract agreement that gives him 20 per cent of any fee. But that cut rises to 30 per cent after August 1, and with Sao Paulo president Juvenal Juvencio refusing to reduce the club’s £23.5m share) is this anywhere near the mark or is his contract situation a little more complicated than that?

My point is that why would he accept a joint ownership deal with Inter and potentially get less money than if he joined Utd or Chelsea and pocket 20-30% of the transfer fee.

any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
James {Ed002's Note - James, any joint ownership deal would include some or all of both parties holdings being sold on. If he is to play in England it all needs to be purchased by an English club. Who owns what now does not matter.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Thank you very much!

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems to me that if it rises to 30% after August 1, the player has an incentive to wait till after August 1 before he agrees to move, so as to pocket the extra 10%.

To the Ed's great job,l have been going over the posts and l have noticed,some are against the idea of us signing cavani,''he is class'',l don't believe for once,his signing will be a threat to torres,my point is for us to challenge for the league we need at least 3 proven goalscorer's,who will score at least fifteen or more goals.A good example of what lm saying is mancity last season,us when we had back to back titles.Hope we get all our targets and they gel quickly, cm

If Roman is willing to buy the best then bring it on
Any player not willing to have competition for his place must be worried about his own capabilities so I say knuckle down or ship out
Drebs

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree.

connor.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people are skeptical of buying cavani because of how the drog effected fernando last year. torres has been told he is the main man next season which he could never have been with drogba around. also 150k a week and 35mill for a player to be on the bench most weeks is silly. plus we all know his ability, cavani is class and another big name pushing torres will not help again. at liverpool he was the main man and he flourished. with drogba around he was always in his shadow and buying cavani may just repeat the same thing.

and we have plenty of proven scorers, (lamps, sturridge, mata, ramiers, torres) all getting over 10 goals last season. sturridge scoring those playing out of position where he hated, plus playing him out wide is a bad idea because he cant cross to save his life, which rarely happened because he was selfish and just wanted to score goals so he should play in the centre. and players like marin and hazard will certainly add to the goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

So your saying don't buy cavani because it will upset Torres ... I say to bad

Hi Ed i have to questions:
1- there are rumors suggesting that Chelsea are going to sign Azpilicueta in the next 48 hours. Is this right?
2- Do you think Chelsea will sign Cavani ? {Ed002's Note - I cannot say the timing of transfers completing. Cheslea are interested in CAvani.}

I'm guessing I may be on my own with this thought but...I don't see why we should fork out £35-40m for Cavani or the same £35-40m for Hulk? Seems a bit of a waste of cash to me.

I'd stick with what we have and bring in a cheaper option, perhaps Demba Ba £7-10m or Robert Lewandowski £15-20m?

A few others Leandro Damaio is a good talent and also close mates with Oscar...Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Thomas Muller, Oliver Giroud, Bafetimbi Gomis, Loic Remy, Eric Derdiyok...these are all talented players and most would not expect to play every game, they would probably want to mind but not EXPECT!!

Believable6 Unbelievable13

Think Cavani might be worth the fuss... But would that not mean Torres being sidelined as soon as he doesnt score and then confidence sapped... We have three strikers, one golden shoe winner and two of hige potential

Maicon should be the main target after Oscar

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think maicon was ever really a viable option

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think Torres expects to be the only high profile striker for the team, he just doesnt want to be on the bench for 70 mins each game. If he starts he will be happy no matter who else we have whether that be Hulk, Cavani or whoever else we are linked with

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the bonus with Hulk or Cavani is that they are versatile, not only can they play through the middle but wide aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I get what your all saying, the original post was just a thought, more so on saving a few pennies...I've always been a fan of Rossi? I like the look of Moussa Dembele as well, cheap, young, pace, strength, can play anywhere up front on the wing or midfield, proven in the prem!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would anyone not want Cavani? He's probably the most in form and deadly striker in Europe over the last 2 seasons! He would be an amazing addition if we could pull it off, we'd have by far the best attacking side in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Robert Lewandowski would be a quality signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing I can add to this thread is my pedantry - Olivier Giroud signed for arsenal some weeks ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the person who said if he got put on the bench his confidence would go. People have been saying for the past 18 months torres confidence has gone but if he doesn't start putting the ball in the back of the net it can't b that after he scores against Barcalona an scores in the euro final. No more excuses he either needs to step up his game or get used to playing 20 mins a game.

Hi Eds,

Could I please get your opinion(s) on whether you think it more expedient to purchase more midfielders, given our recent midfield acquisitions, and to let Torres and Lukaku shoulder the burden of attack between them, or to opt for more top class strikers, thereby potentially Leading to a rift similar to the Torres/Drogba one? This is on the assumption that Sturrudge leaves.

Fantastic work, many thanks

Tim {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any rifts but Cheslea are now very actively pursuing a striker.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

It's Romans club and Romans money
I remember the days long before Roman took over and I know the days I prefer
Lukaku needs a loan at a prem club before he can be trusted to be our front man and if Tores dosen't like competition for his place then he shouldn't be at Chelsea

This seems to be the situation at the moment.
-Thorgan Hazard is supposedly joining Chelsea from Lens for around £1,000,000 plus various add-ons for if he is a success. I'm not sure at what level he will be playing at, but at 19 years old we will probably see him soon.
-Oscar has completed a medical for Chelsea and is currentley in Britain due to his participation in the Brazillian olympic squad. The fee is around £25,000,000 and he will hopefully be joining us officially before the games start.
-Our interest in Moses is still present and we can expect him to be a signing during this transfer period. His fee I am not sure about, however, it is in the region of £8-10,000,000.
-The Cavani deal is possible however it seems that Napoli are reluctant to sell, after Lavezzi went to PSG. His price I am not sure about but will be something like £35,000,000+. This incredible price, I personally feel, is not worth it and I think we should go for a cheaper option.
-The Hulk deal seems to be so far away at the moment with all the different stories about the player flying around. His price seems to be generally described as about £38,000,000. The issues with the deal are complicated and will probably take a while to fully resolve. But, it is still a deal we can expect to make.
-Azpilicueta, his transfer we can also expect to make as well and for around £7,000,000. His transfer is imminent and his position in the squad will be like Bosingwa's.
-In terms of players who are moving out it is hard to say. There has been a lot of talk about Chelsea wanting to offload some of the fringe players, however I am not sure who and for what amount. {Ed002's Note -

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I wouldn't expect to see Hazard any time soon; he is most definitely one for the future.

I think Chelsea are better off without Cavani and/or Hulk. Id love to see Torres get a chance without the presence of another big name striker waiting over his shoulder for any run of bad form.

I think we should make him the main man and use Lukaku as back up, it was clear to see vs. Seattle, he has talent, although it was weak opposition.

This could be the year Torres flourishes in the blue jersey, with all the service he'll get from the new boys.
I'm really excited about the current squad and the brand of football it looks like we'll be playing next year but I do think it could be a bit of a transition period, but it will all be worth the wait.

Believable7 Unbelievable12

Lukaku is still a way off first team football in my opinion. He struggles to hold on to the ball and needs work technically.
