third bid for marquinhos imminent ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so. Pogba is not going to happen this time around either.}

01 Sep 2015 16:40:43
What a let down of a deadline day. Oh well was only ever a small chance, think our midfield will let us down this year

01 Sep 2015 16:41:58
Do you reckon that will be our buisness done for this window then ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would think so.}

01 Sep 2015 16:42:36
Thats a shame Ed. Thanks for your information today. I presume that's the window shut for us or is there still a move or two on the cards?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect that is it, knowing where some folks are they are not in a position to do anything else right now.}

01 Sep 2015 16:45:06
Thanks for the info today anyway Ed002. Hopefully the vegetables don't start throwimg there toys out the pram in your direction.

Appreciate the updates

Frustrating, knowing Barcelona's wage bill is larger than ours too when the bidding for Pogba starts again.

I am gutted but would like to thank all the eds for their patience and work today and all other times. I am planning on having a pizza and a glass/bottle of wine tonight to help me forget this window. The only. Police I see is that we should see more youth players given a chance. If we could just not see mikel in the team/bench any more I think I will just see this season as a stop gap.

Have to admit that Ed 002 was right in almost all signings this summer. Ed thanks on your occasional updates!

Chelsea have had two bids rejected for PSG defender Marquinhos.

Tancredi Palmeri says €120m rejected for Pogba and game over.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2015 16:12:33
If he says that, then there is still a chance he could join.

01 Sep 2015 16:17:18
If that sort of figures turned out to be true then I'm glad it was rejected . Absolute stupid money!

Hey tweeted that on the 22nd of August. Learn to read.

01 Sep 2015 16:35:48
Well I just saw it on a chelsea forum so assumed it was recent.

Alarmingly quiet on here by the EDs, and with only an hour and a half to go. Looks over anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is wrong in the detail, but it is effectively over now.}

01 Sep 2015 16:46:09
Ok, we tried but failed. It was always a long shot as Pogba wants Barca and Juve didn't want to sell. It was always going to take silly money in fees and wages to get him and I think it may be a blessing in disguise. It's good to know that we've got that sort of money available and means we can compete for any player who becomes available.
Right, let's move on and get back to football.

my favourite club is Chelsea however, I am from Aberdeen and watch a lot of there games. I have just seen on ssn that we are away to sign Michael hector. i'm not sure how well known he is down in England but I can assure you up here in Scotland he is very, very well regarded. not looking at a replacement for terry or cahill or iva but all the same with some good advice and coaches he could be a big surprise.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2015 12:55:02
Care to give us some more info on him? I presume he's a centre back, but what's his age etc?
Cheers mate :)

01 Sep 2015 13:13:23
So it seems from what we've read/heard that we wanted to sign John Stones for £38m and Paul Pogba for £72m. Yet we've ended up with 2 unknown players. Costing us £7m lol. Maybe Roman, Marina, has something up their sleeve!

01 Sep 2015 13:13:24
sure thing Jackson.

he's a young tall defender who has played CB and RB from what I know.
age - 23
height - 6'4"
nationality - English
country represented - Jamaica
he has had as many loan moves as the whole of the Chelsea youth team and has only just established himself at Reading this last year making 41 appearances. I remember him as being quite pacey for a CB and good in the air. he only ever scored one goal in his 6 month stint at Aberdeen but it was a screamer and I was at the game;)he was due to return to Aberdeen but with a severe injury crisis at Reading he returned there, thus missing out on Aberdeens first trophy in several years. He did however travel to Glasgow to watch us win the cup. I don't remember seeing him in the stands but there were 40,000 of us(big deal in Scotland) and actually, I can't remember much of the game because of the drink! if you check his twitter I think you can find tweets from two years ago which highlight that he's a Chelsea fan.

I just had a scout around and interestingly some websites claim he can play CDM.

hope that helps

Not heard of hector but looking through his Twitter account looks like he's a big Chelsea fan so there's at least one plus. Let's hope these players are actually good enough to put pressure on first 11.

This one is bizarre. If you look at his career in lower leagues and loans,at 23 he has certainly not caught the imagination of anyone and given the number of youngsters we have on loan and those knocking on the door of the main squad, you cannot help wondering why we appear to have done what we have recommendation or not. With Papys you can make a decent case of a well considered gamble for little outlay but the indication is we have offered the same money for Hector!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 16:28:39
I believe if your not in or around the first team at the age of 23 then your never getting in. Total waste of time signing hector then loaning him back out. Moses signs a contract extension just so his value doesn't go down for when he's sold next season. A very average window for a team that thinks it's good enough to win champions league. Pedro was a good signing but too much squad strengthening instead of improving the first 11.

Hi Ed002, so nice to have you back. Just wanted to ask about John Stones. Reports of Everton signing a new defender today. Is stones transfer still possible(hoping Everton didn't wanna discuss till they bought a replacement for a reasonable price) or is it unrelated.
Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - All sorts of things are "possible" but Chelsea had already bid to a level they considered enough for him more than a week ago. They moved on and made an offer for someone else that was rejected.}

01 Sep 2015 11:16:30
It's good to see ED02 back! ED18 did a pretty good job while he was away! Thanks guys!

Question: are we still looking to fill for the positions that we were trying since the beginning of this window? Has anything changed? I know Pogba is one we are trying based on your post below and Pappy might be for CB or holding midfield. Just wanted to understand the other positions since you said 2 or 3. Thanks!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Well, Chelsea has given up on bringing another goalkeeper in. Aside from that it is the same positions as the club started the summer trying to fill - and most have been.}

01 Sep 2015 12:15:45
ED0018 did a fantastic job while Ed002 he was away!

I just hope everyone stops asking Ed002 for clarity when he has already explained issues time after time. It is what it is!
harassing Ed002 isn't going to ensure we get Pogba
its just going to drive him away again.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - exactly, I'm sure he will provide an update if something happens through out the day. No need to send in 50 questions about Pogba}

01 Sep 2015 12:22:59
I was going to say the same thing it's almost like people just want him to say the answer they want! Anyway less that 6 hours left! COYB

My guess is that Papy Djilobodji is being signed more as defensive midfield cover than CB.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2015 12:07:57
Factfile:

Name: Papy Djilobodji

Age: 26

Position: Centre-back, defensive midfield

Current club: Nantes

Nation: Senegal (12 caps)

What type of player is he?

Djilobodji has played in defensive midfield for Nantes previously, but is more at home in central defence.

At 6ft 4in, the Senegal player is a powerful but pacey left-footer and his stats from last season demonstrate his combative approach to the game.

Djilobodji ranked fourth in Ligue 1 for clearances in 2014/15 (8.3 per game) and in the top 10 for interceptions (3.3 per game). Only 16 players won more aerial duels per game than his 3.1 – in contrast, Chelsea's top players in this category last season were Gary Cahill with 3.3, followed by John Terry with 2.6.

The 26-year-old was also the top Nantes player in 2014/15, according to WhoScored.com's statistical rankings, demonstrating his consistency across his 30 starts for the club.

Nantes may have finished 14th in Ligue 1 last season as they continued to establish themselves in France's top flight following their promotion from Ligue 2 in 2012/13 but they recorded the fifth-best defensive record. Djilobodji played a key role, with the team conceding just 40 times in 38 games.

that time of year again lads. It's becoming as important as birthdays Christmas's even Halloween ;) let's all enjoy it regardless off the out come of our business and let's keep the page active. Although it hasn't been a great window for us I haven't seen this page so active in a long long time which is great to see! Good to see ed18 really involved . Ed02 if you want to take pity on us loyal uninsulting posters maybe 1 update of anything you have for us all would be great and really appreciates COYB

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are continuing to try and get two or three deals completed today - obviously Pogba is the focus.}

Thanks ed002 I hope you get through transfer day without muppets ruining it for everyone.

01 Sep 2015 07:43:15
Personally do you think they will pull it off Ed002?

01 Sep 2015 08:00:43
Thanks ed02 once there making efforts to strengthen we can't ask for more than that, let's hope for a deadline day like we had when Torres signed! Never forget the buzz of that day

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Probably not the best example. As for Pogba, it will be difficult but the club are trying.}

01 Sep 2015 08:20:09
Surely they've left it too late though Ed002? Is signing a big name player more difficult to sign say then a not such a big name?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't understand the question. I have explained the club are making an effort and I have explained all summer that it will be difficult. Nothing has changed, it will be difficult. I am not going to keep saying this over and over.}

01 Sep 2015 08:39:52
Probably not the best example no haha let's just say the buzz of the actual day not taking into account the horror of his Chelsea career

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 08:40:18
Italy window is shut and Juve couldn't get Hernandes from Inter. Releasing Pogba will be much more difficult. We left things too late.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Complete nonsense.}

01 Sep 2015 09:00:46
Didn't word it properly it seems. I was talking about contracts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The contracts are the same whether it is Pogba from Juventus or John Doe from Gillingham.}

01 Sep 2015 09:27:26
Cheers for the update Ed, Much appreciated.

01 Sep 2015 10:06:39
Surprised nobody has bitten already but I can't help myself. I guess one of the other 2 players is the cb from France but any chance you could shed info on who a third target might be ed? I do find it slightly hopeful on pogba front that Juventus signed 2 more midfielders yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not right now.}

01 Sep 2015 10:13:10
He can't be worse than Brana

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 10:14:06
hi Ed002 sorry if this sounds ignorant but what is the difficulty? is it trying to persuade the player to come to us or the fee Juventus are asking for?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It will always be difficult to complete a transfer at such a significant price with a club that doesn't want to sell (but realise the price is the best they will get) and a player who needs to think very carefully about his expectations financially and his future, whilst there remains interest in him from elsewhere.}

01 Sep 2015 11:26:44
Reus , and Pogba please 😜
