Hi Ed - do you think we will soon see Oriol Romeu in action for CFC, or wll he be more on the bench.
Do you think AVB will suprise us fans with a couple good signings on deadline day...thanks {Ed002's Note - You will see Romeu at some point - as for deadline day, I have no idea about timings, sorry.}

Dear ed

looking at the arsenal rumours page, one of the ed says the reason why the lukaku deal is taking long to complete because he has an offer from arsenal. 1)is it true and if so would he even consider it? {Ed002's Note - I answered this there. Lukaku's deal was meant to be signed this morning. That was when it was scheduled. I have not checked if it happened.}

Nothing has become offical on the website? {Ed002's Note - I wouldn't worry about it at all.}

Type in any name you want on youtube and you'll get the most amazing video.. who's going to make a montage of every mistake a player has made. Personally, I find Arsenal's Denilson's video the funniest.

ED,
some queries:

1. Has Inter Milan really had an interest in Drogba?

2. If our pursuit of both Mato and Hazard fails (if), is there any option in thought?
however, the winger problem doesn't look much complex with rumours including Hazard, Mata and Nasri anyone possible..

3. The center Mid, as we are much much focused to Madric, if fails (as Redknapp is insisting again), have we any optional alternative in mind?

4. We are already running 2 short of the plan on Midfielders (as AVB said, he requires 6 but currently just has 4.) and thinking of offloading Banayoun, don't you think it limits us to 4 again (even if we sign a new)?

thanks.. {Ed002's Note - (1) Seemingly so but it is tough to see how they could afford him without moving other players on. It has to be an option he may consider. (2) Nasri has had a medical at Manchester City today and Chelsea have never had an interest in him. I suspect the scouting staff will get their way over stopping any bid for Hazard. Di Maria is the number one choice, but seemingly not available. No bid has been made for Mata but it could easily happen. Chelsea are not going to buy for the sake of buying if none of these come off. (3) Don't get too carried away over specific positions. There is interest in Fernando and de Bruyne as discussed. (4) You will get used to what AVB says being misleading as the season moves on. As I said, there is interest in Fernando, seemingly interest in Modric, interest in de Bruyne, waning interest in Costa, Ganso has been considered, as has M'Vila and others that I cannot think of right now. Lucas arrives in January as well. There are no shortage of possible options, but there will be no panic buys.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Thanks Ed.
that's why you are here with us.
we fans are a bit afraid, as the days are passing..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed how can we not go 4 hazard
he has potential to b one of the best players in europe {Ed002's Note - The scouting team, in particular the head scout, is against it. The reasons were discussed earlier. It means it is less likely to happen.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed cud we get hazard and mata as at the moment we have no rfooted genuine winger {Ed002's Note - Please read the earlier posts on the subject of both players.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely Inter will have quite a bit to spend now Eto'o is moving on.
And what complications are there if Hazard does have an attitude? It could just be overlooked or AVB regime would put him in his place {Ed002's Note - Inter may have that money to spend but running a football club is about a lot more than transfers. Drogba has other available options including a contract extension from Chelsea. As for Hazard, it is primarily the head scout advising against a move for him. But is is not always a neat thing to do to buy a player who says he wants to play elsewhere. We will see what happens over the next week I guess, but it is looking very unlikely that Di Maria will be available - and he remains, with Neymar, a primary target.}

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 16:55:58
hey ed002. AVB said he wants 2 midfielders. (everyone assuming a creative midfielder and a winger). Do you know/think that he would be satisfied with Fernando as being one of the midfielders he is talking about. or are we targeting Fernando as a replacement/improvement for Mikel? {Ed002's Note - I would not pay enormous heed to what is being said and remember it is a squad not a team that is being built. Fernando is a target. Given the situation with Mikel, Chelsea will not be looking to move him on. I would rather see Di Maria but Mata seems a more likely target right now. de Bruyne is perhaps in addition to anyone else. Obviously there is Modric being considered as well.}

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Thank you very much for that answer ed002. Here is another one if i may. Is there HYPOTHETICALLY a chance that we will sign both Fernando and Modric, or is it either one of them? Thank you :) {Ed002's Note - Hypothetically Alan Hudson could come out of retirement and join Modric and Fernando in midfield. I guess it is.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan Hudson? Fantatsic news. If it doesn't happen, I'm slating the eds and burning down Transfer Rumours HQ. (Exaggeration used for dramatic effect)

I know it seems to have gone quiet ever since Christmas on this front,
but what is the situation with Diego
Godin and Subotic from AM, a rumour
was floating at Christmas saying they
were going to sign summer 2011, any
truth/ information on this?
Also, is there a chance Chelsea may
send De Bruyne on loan for a year to
Lille as part of Hazard deal? Heard it
around BBC forums.
Cheers Ed and keep up the good work
CFC FOREVER {Ed002's Note - There is no interest in Diego. Interest waned in Godin. Subotic is wanted next summer if still available, although the sale of Alex may make it more likely he or Rolando join now. I assume you could not be bothered to read the other messages, but we have dealt with de Bruyne and Hazard already.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I didn't really understand the Hazard deal and only saw about De Bruyne's loan a few minutes ago sorry. Also, when i said Diego Godin, i just meant the one player "Diego Godin" not Diego and Godin but never the less, thanks. {Ed002's Note - No problems.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, i know this is an opinion question, but out of the 8 players in this list, who do you think would benefit Chelsea most and Why?
List is Nasri, Hazard, De Bruyne, Ganso Neymar, Sneijder, Subotic and Rolando

CFC FOR LIFE {Ed002's Note - I can't get sucked in to such questions, but I am sure the other guys will give an opinion.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Short term - Sneijder and Nasri. There is 0% chance of either joining.

Long term more viable options - Ganso, Neymar, Subotic and De Bruyne. All are great prospects and would be superb signings.

Hi Ed, Modric IS NOT playing in Tottenhams Europa league match tonight. Now is it that they are now resigned to loosing him or is he genuinely injured. I think 27m + Yossi is a good deal. And if it does happen are we expecting it to happen at 23.59 on the 31st. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea why he is not playing. Sorry.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

His excuse is an "apparent minor Groin Injury" which translates as Levy trying to annoy him further as he pushes for a deal now Arry and Levy are split over sales decision.

Summer transfers in order of probability
Modric joins 31/08/11 23:59 GMT+1
Subotic joins 31/08/11 23:59 GMT+1
Hazard joins 31/08/11 23:59 GMT+1
Nasri joins 31/08/11 23:59 GMT+1
Sneijder joins 31/08/11 23:59 GMT+1
Messi joins 31/08/11 23:59 GMT+1

Hi ED more of a question than rumour.
Is Tomas Kalas joining chelsea after his loan at Sigma Olomuc or will he be loaned out again?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - He is going to spend the year on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I read on Sky Sports that he has a minor groin injury; that will probably be why, as opposed to anything transfer related. In any event, aren't Europa and Champion's Leagues separate when it comes to being eligible for playing in the other competition? Torres played in the Europa League last year if I am not mistaken, before playing for us in the Champo's.

Agree0 Disagree0

I assume you are talking about Modric and posted on the wrong comment. Any player who plays in any Europa League qualifying games cannot be registered for another clubs phase 1 25 man squad in the champions league if transferred before the end of the summer window. They can be registered for the phase 2 squad after the group stages. I think I am right in saying that each club in the knockout stages of the CL can register 3 players that have been picked in a Europa League matchday squad in their phase 2 squad.

Blue 25 {Ed002's Note - Only one player - noth three (unless the rules have changed this year).}

Agree0 Disagree0

You are correct Ed. Only one. The Uefa rules haven't changed and are just as convoluted as they have been in previous seasons.

Thanks for the update ed. Personally, I think that mata will be the most likely to come out of him and hazard. A question on de bruyne. In an interview he mentions that he will stay at genk for another year. If he is the only winger we bring in, would this still happen? {Ed002's Note - I would not get too tied to the concept of who is a winger and who is not - and certainly Mata can play there. The original issue with de Bruyne was that he did not want to go out on loan but did want first team football - which meant that one option would be to stay at Genk. At the moment nothing will happen unless he can pass a medical, but Chelsea have provided an assurance that they will remain interested if nothing can be done by the end of the transfer window.}

ED002 do you know of the stories that are flying around in all major newspapers that Chelsea approached valencia for Mata and they said they will sell for 30 mil euros? {Ed002's Note - No bid has been made at this time. Valencia will want to drag this out to get the best fee that they can. It is possible.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I personally feel he should of been our number 1 target all along, Would be the perfect player for us. If Man City do get Nasri then surely they wont need Mata, Arsenal seem reluctant to pay the required amount, the 2 spanish clubs seem pretty well stocked in those positions. So if we genuinely want the player then we must stand a big chance of landing him. Im hopeful of a succesful deadline day, landing Modric and Mata would set us up to challenge on all fronts in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 12:39:51

{Ed002's Note - It would appear that that a further approach to Real Madrid regarding the availability of Di Maria has resulted in the same answer being given and I suspect that he is probably no longer an option. This means that a decision will need to be taken over the on-going general interest in Mata, Costa and Hazard. As noted, there are concerns over Hazard's temperament and his desire to play elsewhere. The reports about discussions continuing over de Bruyne relate to an interview conducted a couple of weeks back and before his injury. As we stand at present, Chelsea have said that if he is not fit for a medical before the end of the transfer window they are prepared to wait. As for Mata, reports of a bid having been made are wide of the mark, but one may well be made. There is nothing to report in respect of Costa, Fernando or Neymar right now.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Thanks for the update Ed much appreciated

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the update ed Pity though Di maria is an outstanding dribbler and crosser.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed of the 3, which signing would you say is most likely? (Mata, Costa, Hazard) {Ed002's Note - Perhaps Mata. Senior scouting staff have an issue over Hazard's attitude.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a shame about Hazard though if there are doubts now you dont want another Ego in the dressing room and if he wants to play in spain there is no real point in bringing him to england. {Ed002's Note - Of more of a concern to the scouting team is his attitude.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So do u think we will bid for hazard or not i mean we need wingers quick {Ed002's Note - I have explained everything that I know. Did you bother to read it?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed surely lukaku cud tell chels about his attitude {Ed002's Note - Chelsea are not going to ask references from a teenager playing in a league in a different country.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Great update ED, shame about Di Maria, great player. Perhaps if Real sign Neymar things will change. Really wanted Hazard but Mata is also great. A question Ed, isn't Douglas more of a central player rather than wideman? {Ed002's Note - Costa can play across midfield.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why dont Chelsea try to sign Marko Marin of Werder Bremen

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a shame kroos or gotze are not options good talents and only gonna get better

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Kroos and Gotze will be major target for big clubs next summer; another season to develop in the Bundesliga with some European football too. Thanks for the update ed; I would prefer Hazard to Mata originally, but a temprament/attitude problem sounds worrying on somebody so young who should be proving to big clubs that he is an option to them. Oh well.. {Ed002's Note - MY preference would probably be for Di Maria - but again there is baggage with the lad. I agree that Kroos and Goetze will likely be major targets for the "bigger" clubs next summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Brilliant upadate ed :) i didnt see pato's name come up so does that mean that there isnt intrest in him at all? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any new interest and it could simply be an old rumour being recycled.}

Ed, if Modric is not going to play in Tottenham's Europa Cup match against Hearts.. could this be seen as a sign that they are actually softening their stance on the situation? It seems you really do not like to comment on Modric because my guess is that you aren't really for the move. I understand your view point but can you offer a response better than 'perhaps' because that is the response I'm expecting from you. {Ed002's Note - Maybe.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Modric is injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course that is what the club would 'officially' say... why would they come out and say "Hey, Luka's not going to feature for us today because he's probably going to end up moving to Chelsea so we don't want to risk injury in light of his potential move, nor do we want to take away his European cup eligibility because Chelsea will need him in the champions league." Especially after all the big talk Levy/Harry have been spitting.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is genuinely injured, personally i cant see Tottenham accepting this £27m + Kalou & Benayoun deal and i dont see Chelsea bidding above the £27m cash they have currently offered. If Levy lets Modric go now then he would look like a fool to the spurs fans which is something im sure he does not want to risk.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I think Drogba will go next summer, but i cant see Chelsea selling this late in the window unless the deal included Sneijder

Drogba+20 million for Sneijder would be good, like Didier but think Torres will fill the void this year with a hatful of goals

Reports in Spain are suggesting that we have had a bid rejected by Valencia for Juan Mata? Any ideas about this?

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally prefer him to any other of the wingers we're supposedly interested in

Fabregas goes to Barca for 35m , Aguero goes to City for roughly the same , and heres Arry expecting to get ridof Modric for roughly the same amount , if we pay anything over 30m this is daylight robbery in the highest order Expect a few deals next week , its Chelsea we're used to the last minute deal policy.

A few Questions ED002 answer when your free please

1) If Alex goes will we buy another Centre Back?

2) It looks likely that we will not buy a right back is this the case?

3) AVB has said he wants a winger and a CM If Benayoun leaves will he buy another CM you have said Fernando from Porto is a serious target?

4) If De Bruyne signs it looks as though he will be loaned back to Genk,

5) You have said Di Maria is higher then others on the consideration list for a winger you if else is high on the list ?

Cheers BLUEBLOOD {Ed002's Note - (1) See previous answer. (2) It does not look likely at present - VDW seems happy at Ajax. (3) Fernando remains a target. (4) Refer to earlier answers. (5) Refer to earlier answers.}

ed is hazard being looked at as a serious transfer target {Ed018's Note - he is being looked at yes.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Good He is the only player left in Europe after Sanchez and Pastore that can actually give us that wide quality we need. We should go all out to get him, £30m would be a fair price and maybe throw in Maloouda as well if need be. {Ed002's Note - There are concerns over his attitude and that he has a stated desire to move to Spain that will influence any possible move for Hazard.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I take it then that if Spain is his prefered destination he has eyes for Barca and RM. But Barca are skint and won't be signing any more players after Fabregas and RM havn't got space for Di Maria, Naymar and Hazard. So if we end up with 1 of the 3 it would be a success for Chelsea. {Ed002's Note - As long as it is one who wishes to play for the club. A further complication for Real MAdrid would be any interest they have in Tevez.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point Editor, but he still does look a class act and would be perfect as a creator for Torres? Still i'm surprised so many Arsenal fans believe he's going there, surely A) its too high a price for Wenger to even consider. and B) Chelsea have a better FA Cup, CL and EPL chance than Arsenal who may fail to qualify for the second one? Keep up the fantastic work on the website and Cheers for all of your information Ed

Guardian.co.uk is reporting Chelsea to offer Yossi Benayoun and Soloman Kalou in a player plus cash offer for Luka Modric and that Kevin De BRuyne could be bought then loaned back to Genk for 12 months. Personally i think if we can offload Kalou and Yossi for Modric and a fee in the region of £20m this is good business for Chelsea. They are freeing up a non eu quota spot and getting rid of a 31yr old and also getting rid of one of our most under performing and inconsistant players in Kalou. Do you see Tot going for this Ed and what do you make of the deal if it where to come off.

Thanks

PB {Ed018's Note - they might. if there is another bid from Chelsea, Tottenham are gonna have to ask themselves if they are gonna be happy with keeping a player who wants to leave and if they get the right offer i believe they will sell him, i have no idea if that rumoured offer is enough to make them happy}

Apparently Lille have stuck a £26m asking price on Eden Hazard, reports bbc.co.uk - source talksport. Arsenal are apparently interested but that transfer fee should scare them away. ED do you see us making a move for the player and secondly do you see us making a offer around that price? Thanks

PB {Ed018's Note - if Chelsea are to bid on Hazard they would be willing to meet that valuation, i believe}
