30 million + Malouda for neymar in January

I think this would be a fair deal :D

Malouda is probably worth £1m tops, if you rate Neymar at £31m then i think you aren't realising what Santos value him at.

With just over two months to go till the January window opens the transfer rumour merry-go-round is just one chubby kid away from being at full speed! Now Cheick Tiote has been linked with a move to Chelsea once again.

If this is true or not I personally believe that he would be a brilliant signing - looking into the future both he and Romeu could compete for a start at that position depending on whether we want a playmaking defensive midfielder or an enforcer!

Tiote plus a striker would make for a very successful transfer window. Unfortunately I don't think we'll sign a new midfielder till next summer!

Hi Ed

just a quick question are Chelsea really considering selling Daniel Sturridge or is it just a rumour {Ed002's Note - Chelsea would not stand in the way of Sturridge leaving should an acceptable offer be made.}

Hi Ed, As I understand it, the club have agreed that any player over the age of 30 will not be offered a deal longer than one year under any circumstance. Is that correct?

I think Chelsea are wise to offer shorter contracts to older players but surely it should be done on a case by case basis, rather than this blanket policy of 1 year deals for over 30's. For example, it would be daft to lose a player like Ashley Cole because the club refuses to offer more than a one year extension! Whereas offering a 1 year deal to Lampard would be considered more prudent. Cole is still world class, while Lampard's spot in the starting 11 is under increasing pressure from the likes of Oscar and Ramires...

Isn't it possible then that this contract situation will damage our recruitment and retention of players?

J22 {Ed061's Note - I'm sorry mate I'm not 100% on the over 30's policy and Ed002 is travelling ATM so may be best to ask him when he's back. One thing I will say is that if Ashley continually puts his best foot forward I'm sure the club would have no qualms keeping him around for 3-4 more years. But it would most likely be on a year to year basis. What you need too realise is players over 30 become increasingly more injury prone and have longer recovering times then the youngsters, so it makes no sense to offer an older player a long term deal. If Ash really wants to stay at Chelsea and believes he still has claims as starting left back I see no reason why he wouldn't sign. He surely understands the reasons why we have the policy (if indeed we do). People thinks we owe Ashley something and should give him what he wants which is ridiculous. Chelsea took him from a great club, too a great club that wins trophies. He also got a decent pay rise when he moved.}
